My husband and I stayed a week and would definitely do it again. The complex is older but well kept. This unit looked just like the pictures and had a perfect peek a boo view of the ocean, which very few of these units do. We spent lots of time just hanging on the lanai enjoying the waves and surfers. Kitchen and bath are a little cramped but the room is plenty big. And we weren't there to cook much. We had no problem with parking but then we could walk to about any restaurant or activity in town so were seldom out driving around at night. The pool and lobby have a great layed back feel.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, age 55+, sightseeing.

We very much enjoyed our stay at the Heart of Kona studio. We stayed for a week and were so happy we chose a place so close in to Kailua town. Every morning started off with a breakfast on the Lanai facing the bay. The walk to restaurants and attractions were all within minutes of our door. While it was a cozy place, it was also very comfortable (especially the king bed). At night, we would sit on the lanai with a cold beer, listening to waves, people passing by on Alii and the torches that lit the property. The unit itself was fairly modernized and while there was some evidence of wear and age, it didn't bother us. We looked at some other units in this complex and found this one was in the best shape out of all the ones we could research. While we weren't bothered with the condition of the complex, it is older and you aren't going to get away from that completely. That being said, this unit's price, along with its exceptional view, made it a bargain. This isn't the Four Seasons but it isn't in bad shape. The unit was well maintained and clean. Parking is an issue and we did have to park across the street once. $5 for 24 hours. No big deal. Also, Alii traffic in front of the unit can be bad at times and occasionally loud. We closed our door at night and ran the air conditioning though so we never heard any of it. For the price, we were able to do many more activities in Kona and stay on budget. All while still living very comfortably. The owner was super helpful and you can tell she cares about the property. While we didn't need anything special from her, setting it up was easy and she was very good at getting back to us quickly. I travel for business frequently and stay at Hyatts, W Hotels and Hiltons. We weren't looking for that for this trip. We were looking for a clean comfortable place that was close to everything and would allow us to walk and explore this area by foot. We're super happy about our stay here and would recommend it to anyone else in a similar situation.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, sightseeing, adventure seekers.
