We just returned from a fabulous week. The condo is as described in the listing or better: the condo was extremely clean and had everything we needed for the week--plenty of towels (including 6 beach towels), the beds were very comfortable, the wi-fi was 100 % reliable, and the service from Mundaca was unparalleled. I recommend staying at a Mundaca managed unit: Lilo (the Mundaca representative) was superb, and took care of all our needs in high style. The location is perfect--at the end of the main street of shops, and in the center of the best beach. I would definitely stay in this unit again. It was one of the best, stress-free VRBOs we have used. Our kids (7 and 11) also loved it--the beach and the pool were fantastic--and they provided beach toys and "noodles" at the pool. We did a fantastic trip to Isla Contoy, which Mundaca arranged--we had a wonderful experience there.

Best location on Isla, Great Condo

My family stayed at this property for a week at the end of November. We were met by Will, who walked us to the Ixchel Condo, while our luggage was brought to the Condo by a bicycle taxi and the driver and our luggage was waiting for us. Along the way. he showed us his favourite places to eat. The Condo is exactly as described, with very comfortable beds/linens. The view was spectacular. The beach and ocean were also incredible. The Ixchel properties are very close to Hidalgo, which has numerous great places to eat and shop. The property manager Lilo, was very helpful with any questions you had. Thanks Rick, I can't wait to visit Isla again!

I can't say enough good things about this unit at Ixchel after a positively flawless stay in late September. It looks even better and more polished in person. The living room furniture is a tad different, and I like it better than what is pictured. The big leather chairs are incredibly comfortable, and the futon was, too. The woman in our group who slept on the futon was very happy. She even loved the ocean view from her pillow when the curtains were open. I'd stayed in an Ixchel condo with a different layout, and I prefer this one. It felt more spacious. The master bedroom was absolutely dreamy. The bed was one of the most comfortable I have ever slept on. The people who slept in the second bedroom, with the two double beds, said the same thing. My mother's words were, "My body, mind and soul have never been completely at peace like they are right now." The view is nice. It's not obstructed. More than sufficient. Loved the location at the top of one flight of stairs. No need to wait for the elevator. The condo is privately managed. The front desk at Ixchel doesn't handle anything. Don't worry about this at all! The property manager, Lilo, is always available. He meets you at the hotel to check in, gives you a cell phone, and you never have to recharge it. He always answered when we called. Lilo was a lot of fun and very responsible, and we were in good hands. Guests in condos not managed by Ixchel directly cannot run a tab at the beach bar and pay upon check-out. We ran a tab and paid at the end of each day. After enjoying the weeklong tab on a previous stay, I was concerned that this would be a bit of a hassle, but it wasn't. Nothing to worry about here. Try paddleboarding - you'll see lots of folks doing it around Ixchel. The rental place is down the beach to the right, toward Avalon. Also, try a windsurfing lesson with Juan at Carlos & Charlie's! He's a terrific teacher for any level (even my 70-year-old mother got up on the board - no kidding. She's in good shape and skis and snowboards, but Juan was still surprised... it's a testament to his teaching skills). Ixchel's location simply can't be beat. It's at the end of Hidalgo, the main pedestrian street. It's an easy, safe walk to all the restaurants and cafes downtown. Literally 2 minutes to great dining. And it's right in the middle of the best beach on Isla (the best in Mexico, in my opinion). I've stayed several places on Isla, and this place is my favorite, hands down.

Comfortable, Well Furnished and a Nice Location

Having been to Isla Mujeres several times I was familiar with the Ixchel and saw this condo as an opportunity for extra space since my daughter was bringing a friend. The condo is managed separately from the hotel which at first struck me as unusual yet the management company did a great job (you're provided a cell phone which is almost like a virtual concierge; it was unique and effective). We occupied the two bedroom layout which was a one bedroom suite connected to a one bedroom room. The place was well furnished but managed to avoid having that look or feeling like you're occupying someone's personal space. The beach was maintained and monitored and there were a bit of fish schooling around the break barriers to check out with a snorkel. The gentleman who runs the rental hut on the beach in front of the hotel, Miguel, was helpful and had plenty to add to our fun. A short walk away are the more commercial beaches which made for great people watching and mingling. As long as you buy your drinks from them, take a couple of the free chairs that are set up in front of the beach bars. The four of us could stay all day and be full of beer and coladas and never crack more than $35 (tip big right out of the gate, when they're setting up an umbrella, and incrementally from there on and you'll find you're chairs reserved the next couple days). The pool was fine to end the day though it was a bit warm - it's August, 'natch - but mixing in a bag of hielo bought from across the street elicited plenty of fun. Around the area we employed the laundry service on the corner before leaving and found it of good service and quite useful. I enjoy horse trading with vendors and cab drivers but our guest was new to this so on our departure I spoke to the gentleman who has a small snorkeling/whale watching booth at the corner next to the laundry service and he set up our cab back to the airport for $35. Finally, if headed to baseball tacos don't be surprised that you're not at the baseball field and that it's not called Baseball Tacos (should be called Playground Tacos these days). The process of securing the condo for our vacation was refreshingly easy and transparent. It is obvious that the owners have done this before and are familiar with the business, therefore we encountered no surprises.

Great Time at Ixchel

My husband and I stayed 6 nights here recently and would certainly recommend it. The condo was exactly as described. Nice, clean, quiet. The management staff were wonderful. Lilo will help you make reservations, book tours and even get you directions to restaurants. The beach was clean - free of seaweed and the sand was powder soft. The Ixchel staff were good about setting up umbrellas too. Thank you for an awesome, relaxing vacation!

Best Arrangement on the Island

Rick was extremely helpful in guiding us, as first timers to the island. Above that, the condo, view, facilities, and services are spectacular and just as described. Before you look anywhere else, especially as a first timer, I would recommend checking in with Rick.

A Beautiful Place

There is only one way to describe Isla and this Condo: Beautiful. We enjoyed our stay from the time we arrived until we left 9 days later. We didn't have any problems. Everything is as described. The pool is perfect. The Beach outside the Condo is perfect. The people at the front desk as well as at the pool side bar were great. The food in town was great. The one place we went to that i would recommend over any other is a resturaunt called El Patio about half way to the grocery store on the left hand side of Hildigo. The food was good the the music was great. I was sitting there on my last night and it started raining and no one got up and left. It was perfect. Anyway i would recommend renting this condo anytime. Stayed here in March of 2006 and it was awesome. We have stayed on the island and in Cancun before but this place takes the prize. We brought our kids and they loved it. Pablo and the whole staff were very friendly. Simply OUTSTANDING!

We stayed at this condo the first week of May, 2007. The condo is beautifully furnished. The view from both bedrooms and living room are gorgeous. It was quiet and relaxing. The pool is great. The owners are very helpful with restaurants, transportation and anything else you may need to know. We found most everything was within walking distance. We'll be back!

This condominium is located in THE most beautiful property on the entire island. The pool is fabulous and the beach will leave you speechless. The staff is wonderful and if we are fortunate enough to visit Isla again, we will definitely stay at the Ixchel Beach Hotel. The owners of this particular condominium were very helpful and pleasant. Highly recommended!
