we loved the view from the deck; being right on the ocean was exactly what we wanted. the early April weather was too cool & rainy to enjoy much sitting out or the hot tub, but it was a great home base for exploring local redwoods & up the Oregon coast. The restaurant next door is only open certain nites. Also the description of the beds in the loft is not really clear about how an adult cannot stand upright up there. (this did not matter to the two of us, but would if you brought a group...) The cabin is very well outfitted with everything you would need and Brookings or Crescent City were handy for shopping. There were not a lot of folks at the resort so it was fairly quiet for us; I imagine in season people on the neighboring decks would feel pretty close tho. We have always had great luck immersing ourselves in new locations via VRBO, and I would recommend this rental to anyone wanting to get away to the north coast area... thanks for sharing your home with us.

We really enjoyed our stay, We have four kids, and Chris was so sweet to be hesitant to let us rent the cabin fearing it would be too tight of a fit ... It worked out perfectly (although as our little ones get older, it would be too tight) We enjoyed the cozy cabin, the relaxing glow of the electric fireplace, the view and sound of the ocean from the windows. The beach was uncrowded, and so much fun for Dad and the older boys to explore the rocks! The hot tub was a wonderful bonus each night (now our youngest is begging to get one at home!) The place was clean, comfortable even if compact - (not a lot of storage for the food stuffs). Chris was a pleasure to interact with. We really enjoyed the desserts we got at the Nautical Inn restaurant on site of the resort. My hubby and I thought that we might really enjoy a getaway at this cabin without the kiddos one day :) But the place is very comfy for a family with 2 and even 3 young children.

This has been our 6th visit to the Sea Turtle, and the longest stay. It was once again an awesome vacation. Our large family fit comfortably, and everyone was entertained. The place is spotless and the newer hot tub is wonderful. We didn't find it necessary to even go anywhere else. Every clear day we were on the beach or the deck. Past visits we have ventured into Cresent City, Paul Bunyon and hiking in the Redwoods, this time we just enjoyed each other. We prepared all our meals ahead of time and it was nice not to do so many dishes. Thank you! Can't wait for our next visit.

We stayed at the Sea Turtle on December 17 thru December 22. From looking at the pictures, we were very excited for our stay. When we arrived and went into the property, we were immediatley hit with the most awful smell imaginable (rotting food or dead animal) as well as an infestation of large flies. The property appeared clean with the exception of the smell and the flies. After searching the property for the source of the smell, we narrowed it down to the kitchen sink. The only way we could combat the smell was to keep the small kitchen window open at all times, which made it a little chilly even with the heater on. The property is smaller than we imagined, I think the pictures make it look bigger. We couldn't get the Wi-Fi to work, the dvd player in the living room would stop playing the dvd's halfway thru (we tried several different ones including brand new ones). The dvd players in the bedroom and loft were not hooked up, nor were there instructions on how to hook them up. I think the saving grace was the view and the fact that there was a hot tub, whuch my 2 kids loved. We regularly visit the area as we have family in Crescent City and Brookings and are always looking for a nice place to stay. Not sure if we will return to this particular cabin, we may try another one in the same complex. There is a manager on site, however since this is a rental by private owner they were not much help with the smell.
Owner response:After receiving the call about the odor problem, I first called the gas company to eliminate the possibility of a gas leak. This was not the problem. I then called my maintenance person who found an expired rodent in the outside water heater compartment underneath the kitchen window. He immediately removed the rodent, deodorized, and cleaned the area. The water heater compartment has been resealed to prevent any future occurrences. The DVD equipment is being upgraded to more user-friendly equipment. The wi-fi is provided by the resort management and any issues should be addressed to the office. The wi-fi system has operated well to date. We have owned this vacation property for 12 years and we are happy to say this has never occurred before. We take pride in providing a relaxing, clean and comfortable getaway on the Pacific Ocean.

We enjoyed our stay at the Sea Turtle cabin. We enjoyed watching the waves from the wonderful open deck. The decor in the cabin was beautiful and well coordinated. The cabin was so cozy and comfortable. We would recommend the retreat to anyone wanted a nice quiet three days to get away from it all. Thanks so much! Ray & Shirley Jensen

Our stay the the Sea Turtle was just what the doctor ordered! If you are looking for a place to stay that is quiet and restful, yet not far from incredible sights, this is the place for you! When you enter, the cabin welcomes you in. It is very comfortable and we had very good night sleeps. The sunsets were amazing and walks on the beach were perfect. The cabin is equipped with everything you could want or need. It was very clean! I would recommend this to anyone looking into a romantic getaway.

As with most travelers we were pensive at first about renting something so far away (we live in Central Ohio) without having actually seen it. Our fears were allayed when we walked through the front door and saw the ocean open up in front of us through the deck doors. It was breath taking in so many ways and yet, tastefully simple. The unit was clean and very well appointed without being gaudy. The furniture was in great shape and the master bed was two of the best nights sleep I had during our tour of Nor Cal. We grilled steaks on the deck via the gas grill and enjoyed them as we watched the sun move across the western sky. Followed by an amazing sunset into the Pacific. We would return for romantic weekend except it is so far away. Go Ahead and rent this unit...you won't regret it!

I took my mother to the Sea Turtle. From the moment we arrived we felt comfortable and at home. The cabin is beautifully decorated in an Island motif. The "loft" was large and very comfortable...the cabin should be called a two bedroom. The weather was lousy, rainy and windy. But it was warm and cozy inside. The Hot tub was wonderful. I even got my elderly mom in it once, and she loved it! I enthusiastically recommend the Sea Turtle to everyone. I am already planning another trip to to take my daughter, grand daughter, and son in law, to have the wonderfull experience of the beach at the Sea Turtle! Thank you Chris & Chris for sharing your home, and making the rental experience such an easy process. We will be back!

YES,YES and YES Sea Turtle is a wonderful place to stay. My husband and I love and call this our second home when we want peace and quiet. The decor is wonderful, the ocean sounds and feels like it's right next door (which it is). If you want a place to go eat or have fun it's right up the street from your cabin. What more could you ask for? You could not ask for a better place to stay the "The Sea Turtle". Thanks again for letting us stay at such a wonderful place.

Coffee in the hot tub in the morning...a glass of wine in the hot tub at sunset...the sound of the ocean lapping on the beach below all day...life at Sea Turtle is pretty darn wonderful! The decor and accommodations were great (very comfy bed; well-equipped kitchen) -- we had everything we needed. The location is a perfect "base camp" for anyone who wants to explore the Northern California and Southern Oregon coast line. We did mini road trips from Sea Turtle and it worked out great. The Neptune Inn next door and the Town of Brookings, Oregon just a mile up the road offer plenty of dining options. For those looking for a place of serenity to curl up with a good book and forget the rest of the world, Sea Turtle is perfect. For those who have kids, the loft upstairs is just right. Enjoy your vacation!
Owner response:Bev and Lee, thank you for your kind comments. We are glad you had a wonderful time at Sea Turtle, all the way from gorgeous Hawaii. Chris and Chris

We had the best time here, we have stayed at the white rock resort for the last 5 years but have never had such a great time. The cabin was fully furnished, nicely decorated and well taken care of. We have already scheduled to go back again in July 09 for a week and we cant wait. Thank you Chris and Chris for a great time and a lovely cabin.

My husband and I totally enjoyed our stay here. We came to celebrate our 23rd wedding anniversary and it was very relaxing. The cabin was very clean and the hot tub luxurious after a day strolling the beach. The cabin was well stocked with everything needed to feel like home. The description was accurate and we found it easily even though we arrived late and it was dark. The restaurant, close by, Nautical Inn, served delicious sea food. I would definitely recommend it to anyone wanting a comfortable place to watch the waves and enjoy the surf.

Hi! I would be more than happy to share some information about one of our favorite family getaway locations! We have had two wonderful stays at the Sea Turtle and we are anxious to go back again this August for a 4 day trip! The unit is right above the ocean--a spectacular view (especially from the outdoor hot tub!). The pacific crashes against the rocks below--it really is a spectacle (I have never stayed in a house so close to the water--and felt so safe). It is right next to a secluded and very clean sandy beach that has good tidepools (tons of starfish over by the rocks) and pelicans galore. The rock hunting is great on the beach--my kids love the beach-combing there. The cabin is a great fit for a family of four (we have two boys--ages 5 and 10). There is a nice bedroom downstairs with a very comfortable king-sized bed and a cozy loft upstairs with a twin and a double that is great for kids--complete with videos! The unit has a nice kitchen and a very pleasant and relaxing decor. It also has a nice little sunroom/entryway that opens to the deck and the gorgeous views! And the location! 45 minutes from the jet boat excursions up the Rogue River in Gold Beach--and 30 minutes from the redwoods. Brookings is only a few miles away and has some good places to eat. But--unlike windy Gold Beach--White Rock is much warmer and has a lot less tourists. More often than not we have had Pelican beach all to ourselves. I hope this helps--I would advise you to book right away--you won't regret it!

Well, I am back looking at the web site to see available dates, because the beauty of the place has stayed with me. We loved it, and will be back some time soon. Very comfortable and the ocean view was the best of many that I have stayed in before. Highly recommend Sea Turtle.

We had a great time at the Sea Turtle. It is a perfect location for hiking, cycling, and strolling on the beach. We enjoyed the Redwoods in both California and Oregon. Brookings and Crescent City are great beach towns. It's so startling to see azaleas in bloom under towering palms!

I loved this cabin! You can actually hear the ocean if you have the windows open. The deck is perfect for sipping your favorite beverage while watching the whales swim by, or the beautiful sun set over the always amazing Pacific Ocean. I can't wait for my next visit!

Sea Turtle was the perfect weekend getaway. The cabin was decorated beautifully, the ocean view is spectacular and relaxing in the hot tub was just the icing on the cake. It was a great way to end a very hectic work week. We will definitely go back as soon as possible. Brent and Sheree Whaley
