Viking Estates is easy walking distance to Big Bear village shops where even shopping’s an adventure, charming art galleries, antique shoppes, and unique dining experiences creating the perfect atmosphere for romance…later, hop on the Big Bear Valley Trolley and tour down town, a town full of character from the old mining days of the early 1800’s.

A breath of fresh air…nestled in the heart of the San Bernardino National Forest where Serrano Indians were the first occupants 3000 years ago among towering pine and oaks, Big Bear Lake is a smog-free, four season mountain resort 8,000 feet above sea level and 180 degrees from ordinary. Big Bear Lake is a fresh water lake and is eight miles long and over a mile wide. It is so crystal clear that all the breathtaking scenery stands out in high definition. You will feel the weight lift from your shoulders, because you will discover a gem of a vacation spot to let go of the tensions and pressure from the world below. This vacation retreat will sweep all the clutter and cobwebs from your mind and recharge your spirit. So take a deep, relaxing breath, kick back, and enjoy life in this immaculately detailed home located in a spectacular alpine setting.

Call or reply to this website via email...you will reach my wife or I, the owners, and we will be attentive to your questions.

Big Bear is a premier winter wonderland with over 120 inches of snowfall average where every Winter sport imaginable is here. By late November you have got your choice of skiing, boarding, tubing, cross-country skiing, snow scooters, snow biking, snow mobiling, snow shoeing, or sledding... and the only fight you will have with your kids involves snowballs! With over 300 days a year of sunshine, Spring is a naturalist’s dream where everything is reborn and renewed. Mountain or cross country biking is the order of the day and don’t forget golf!

Summer has you basking in the warm days and cool nights. The skis and snowboards are set aside, and fishing poles and wake boards are brought out. Bring your own boat and moor it to the home’s private dock or rent one at the marina...it is boating season! Parasailing, wind surfing, wakeboarding, wake skating, knee boarding, wave running, tubing, air chairing, waterskiing, parasailing, "no license needed" fishing on the trout, bass, catfish, and blue gill stocked lake, or jump on a banana boat, it is all up to you! Fall ushers in the first hint of chill watching the leaves blush and illuminate the shorter days with a golden glow as locals start to pray for snow. But before the ground is covered with the white stuff head out and explore The Biggest Family Room on the Planet!

Be quiet and listen very carefully--here is a local secret! If you want to dodge the weekend crowds in the winter and summer, here is what you do. Do not come up on the weekend. (It is amazing you have not thought of this before). Instead, come up midweek (you need some time off work, anyway) when the lifts are clear in the fall/winter and the lake is empty in the spring/summer and the deals on this place are going down!

Why the Owner Chose Other Big Bear Lake Properties

Because it is a a gated , secure community and is well maintained by the home owners association. We love the fact that it is on the lake with a heated pool jacuzzi and sauna and also has a basketball court and a tennis court. The location is perfect and we can bring our boat because there is a dock.

The Unique Benefits at this Condo

Its a clean, just remodeled home. The interior is decorated with a cabin feel and there is a cozy fireplace in the living room. The home also has internet available in the living room and a TV in every room.

Owner's Map of Other Big Bear Lake Properties

We are a family of four and this is our vacation home. We use it when we can with friends and family. It has been remodeled and has two decks and a garage. We have a heated indoor pool, jacuzzi and dry sauna and we are on the lake with a boat dock. We are only a mile from the village and three miles to snow summit. Its a summer and winter good time whenever we go. We're sure you will enjoy it too.

Great Condo, Nice Location, Very Nice Owners

Guest: Jay R. (Las Vegas)
Date of Stay: 05/14/12 Review Submitted: 05/17/12

After a very rough start and I thought originally this would be a completely different review, but I enjoyed my stay at the Lakeside Condo very much. It was a rough start due to some things out of control of the owner but Al stepped up to plate and took responsibility anyways and took good care of us. You can tell this is his family's home also, its located in a nice gated community right on the water and I cant say one bad thing about the place. I have a bad back and hate sleeping elsewhere but the king bed in the master was more comfortable then the one in my house. The condo is very nice inside it has everything you need and then some. Flat screen tvs in all the rooms, two balconys, one in the master and one in the dining room and a COMPLETELY stocked kitchen. They obviously take pride in their home and it shows. The facilities are nice too with indoor pool, spa, sauna and even tennis and basketball courts.I only used the spa myself but it was nice having all those options. Thank you again AL for letting us stay in your home and I definitely recommend it to anyone and would love to stay there again.

Condo was Cozy!!

Guest: Krudger (Hawthorne)
Date of Stay: 03/22/11 Review Submitted: 03/26/11

This was a very cozy, warm place to stay. Unfortunately, none of the indoor pool or game area described was open. It was closed for construction. Housekeeping didn't come until after we got there to change out the linens, but it was no problem... they were in and out. The condo is in an excellent location, very close to food and the Village. As one of the reviewers before stated, the children's room is literally as small as a closet, but it's okay, LOL. I wouldn't call the customer service from the owner "bad". The owner just appears to be pretty straight to the point and expectations of how he wants his home to be treated. I am pretty sure renting the vacation home is not all he has to do all day. I wouldn't stay here again only because I never stay in the same place twice.

Nice condo. Poor customer service.

Date of Stay: 11/24/10 Review Submitted: 12/04/10

We stayed at the condo over the Thanksgiving holiday- a group of 4 young professionals looking for a place away from LA to escape. The condo is pet friendly and cozy, and Big Bear offered many quaint corners to explore. We had a wonderful time, but we will not be returning to this rental, specifically because of the proprietor's poor customer service. We experienced glib responses to any inquiry both prior to and during our stay, inaccurate price quoting, and undisclosed fees. In the interest of full disclosure, here is the text of the email I sent after money was withheld from our deposit. "I received the partial refund of my deposit tonight. To say the least, I am frustrated by the withholding of a significant paypal fee which was never mentioned when you requested payment via paypal, nor in the correspondence we have had since regarding deposit refunds and condo details. I have revisited the VRBO listing, and I do see that-- in the fine print-- a "small fee" is mentioned. That oversight was my responsibility and I take ownership of it. However, I consider it very bad business to keep this information out of direct communication with your renters until they are returned only part of the money they presented in good faith. I see from your reviews that another renter had this problem, and your response was that the fee information is "clearly stated on the website." I do not consider ambiguous language (i.e. "small fee") on a website that has already contained previous errors (i.e. inaccurate rental fees for the Thanksgiving holiday) to be "clearly stated." If you are going to charge a fee, list it in the contract and mention it upfront. ..... The condo is comfortable and credit will be given where it is due, but I cannot recommend that anyone deal with you and expect a satisfactory level of communication. "

Owner response:The pay pal fee is annnotated on our website in the rate section. It is the same size print as the rest of the rate infor so shes not telling the truth. It also says there that they had the option to pay by check. I assume then if tenants dont rquest to pay by check then they are ok with paying thru pay pal and willpay the fee. Also dont know what she is talking about that the thanksgiving rates are not accurate. They are and have been since we began renting the place. Bottom line she didnt like paying the pay pal fee (but like the place) so she posted non truths.

Okay Condo, Terrible, Frustrating Owner/Renter

Guest: Patrick (Los Angeles, CA)
Date of Stay: 11/24/10 Review Submitted: 12/02/10

Just got back from a Thanksgiving weekend at this condo. Good location, okay condo, magnificently terrible owner/renter. The location is correct, right off the water. The condo is starting to get run down though, the second bedroom has slippery, thin, dirty sheets (you can tell that although they've been washed, they are old and worn). The lighting is mediocre and a little creepy in spots. The room for the bunk beds is nothing more than a closet, very tiny and extremely cramped. I would suggest not renting this condo based on the average quality and more importantly, the unhelpful, glib, rude nature of the owner/renter. Al took days to return emails, was rude and short on the phone - basically a nightmare to deal with. And to boot there is a $30 hidden 'fee' for using Paypal with him, that he takes out of your deposit. I can't stress enough how frustrating and unhelpful the owner/renter was, we won't be renting again because of him.

Owner response:The pay pal fee is not a hidden fee. It is annoated right there in the rate section with the rest of the rates. It also says they have the option to pay by check in the mail (if they dont want to pay the fee) And the bunk room is not a closet. Its a small room specifically for little kids! I told them that they cant exepct to put adults in there and they rented anyway and now are complaining about it. It specifically states that the bunk room is for "LITTLE KIDS".

My family had great time at this place. Excellent location on the Lake and near everything. Very comfy feel with a lot of character. Liked the fact that one bedroom is downstairs and one is up. (great with kids). Nice kitchen with large fridge. Kids really enjoyed the rec room with pool, spa, weight room and pool table. Won't hesitate to stay there again. Gary and Penny

Skiing Vacation

Guest: Alice and John (Thames Ditton - UK)
Date of Stay: 02/14/10 Review Submitted: 02/26/10

The home is in a great location by Big Bear Lake and 5 mins drive to ski resorts. It has all amenities and the washing machine tumble dryer were great to allow us to go home with a clean case of ski clothes. The kids loved all the ornaments. The adult beds were comfortable with plenty of spare blankets if it's cold. The bunks were fine for children. The home was clean and there were even welcome packs in bathrooms. If there is anything we would change is - more lights or white walls - it was on the dark side. I'd suggest going to the Discovery Centre, picnic by the lake, Big Bear and Summit Mountain skiing. We had a great time and would recommend.

Condo decor like a rustic cabin!!!!

Guest: Al Riba r. (san diego)
Date of Stay: 01/01/10 Review Submitted: 02/03/10

Our family loved this home. Its been rennovated recently and decorated obviously with items collected around big bear. Fireplace was cozy beds were soft and the two decks were nice to sit out on. The indoor pool and jacuzzi were awesome for the kids and my husband and I after the day was done. I liked the dry sauna ...very relaxing! Our kids loved the little bunk bed room. The owner installed a stack washer dryer in another area of the home and converted the old washer dryer utility room into a bunk area for kids. Its not that big but the kids loved it! They closed the door and they had their own private little sanctuary. It had a heat vent (so they were warm), lights and a dresser for their stuff. The master bedroom was great because it had a separate sitting room with a sofa and TV so my husband and I could retreat to ur room and have more than just a bed to sit on...nice and private. Just cant say enough nice things about the place. Will come upp during the summer because they have a tennis court, basketball court and a dock where we can swim and fish from and dock our boat. Cheers!

very disappointing

Guest: Kevinbarbie (Hawaii)
Date of Stay: 12/23/09 Review Submitted: 01/08/10

our family stayed at this condo over Christmas. The owner was difficult to deal with. The hot tube was broken four out of the five nights we were there. Shower knob missing...don't plan on taking a bath. Bar stools and dining chairs not very stable due to missing cross bars. Bunk beds for a person 4ft and under; built into a walk-in closet. AND we are fighting for our security deposit back. There are many places to rent in the this area. I would not rent this one again ever!!!!

Owner response:The diverter knob in spare bath broke. Called plumber to fix and he did that Monday. Theres nothing wrong with the chairs in the dining room. They are ethan allen chairs weel built. They called and told me the spa was hot but no jets. I called and reported it to the HOA management company which got it fixed but not before they left. Their depsoit I refunded les the small pay pal fee. She objected to that even though it clearly states in the rate section that there is a small fee for using pay pal. We converted the washer dryer room to a bunk room. Its not a closet. The bunk beds are standard bunk beds purchased from IKEA and intended for kids, not adults! And its more like 5 foot 6 inches and under is what its intended for not 4 feet like she wrote. This lady was very diificult to deal with. Her dad was very pleasant though and understood that things happen. I was readily availble to take their calls and worked diligently to address their concerns.

We just returned home after a five night stay at Viking Estates,it is a relly great condo! The decor is so original, many interesting vintage items, and the beds are comfy. The location was great,we could bike to town and the beach or marinas. The best part though was meeting the owner of the unit across the way,we had kids the same age and it really made their trip.I would reccomend this property highly to any wanting to go to Big Bear and get a great value.
