This is a lovely place to stay in on the North shore. Couldn't ask for better. It was close to the beach were we could be by our self’s besides from the turtles that could come up on the beach. The neighborhood was quiet and friendly. About 5-10 minutes with car to Halewia where you can find shops, restaurants and the best shrimp truck in Oahu. Close to Waimea falls and to Dillingham airfields if you want to skydive or do some gliding as we did. Fantastic experience. The rental was perfect for us. We were two couples that lived here for two fantastic weeks. It was clean and had everything we needed such as beach towels, boogie boards, ice machine and a big BBQ grill outside. It was great! Doug and Elaine were very kind and helpful. We arrived after midnight and they stayed up to greet us. After travelling 34 hours (we came all the way from Sweden) it was nice to find a basket full with fresh fruit and some cold beers in the fridge. They have a lot of ideas and good information about what to do when in Oahu. They are the best! We are definitely coming back again!

This property was within walking distance to both the beach and the local kids' park in Waialua. The owners were helpful, especially with setting up the tv in the living room. There were all kinds of dishes, pots and pans in the kitchen. Chairs and sand toys and coolers were available for use. These were all the positives about the rental.. However it was dirty...and not well kept up..needing paint; both the entrance and the kitchen area...The floors and kitchen area needed to be cleaned much more thoroughly. I would only recommend this rental if all others are unavailable.

Recommended for: Families with teenagers, girls getaway.

Owner response: We are very sorry that you felt our rental home was not cleaned to your standards. We always try to greet our guests when they first arrive if we are not at work, and we did introduce ourselves and let you know that we would be here if you needed anything. We take pride in the cleanliness of our rental home and would have been happy to address any areas that we may have overlooked.

This a great place, great value, and nice folks. The kitchen was well equipped, rooms were nice, and we were close to the beach for nice walks and swimming. There are stairs but my 81 year old mom had no issues. If you are staying on the North Shore this a great place to stay.

We enjoyed our stay here, the house was thoughtfully supplied with extras like soaps, beach towels, boogie boards, a cooler. It's in a neighborhood, so you feel like you live there, as opposed to being in a touristy area or hotel. Nice kitchen - we did our own breakfasts. Lanai porch is very nice. Owners are very nice people. You could see the ocean a couple of blocks away, we walked to the nice little beach park there.

This was our first trip to Hawaii and the few requests the 6 of us had were to not stay in a tourist trap, to be within walking distance to the beach, and that it be kid friendly.. Doug and Elaine's rental was exactly what we were looking for! There is a park on the beach that I took my son to atleast twice a day, its only 2 blocks away. We bbq'd almost everyday on the large back deck of the rental. This was the first time in many years where we all vacationed together and it couldn't have been for perfect. We didn't spend a lot of time in the condo so we were not in need of ellaborate ammenities. Like I said the rental perfectly slept 5 adults and 1 child with 2 bedrooms and a full size futon. Only down side was there's just 1 bathroom, but it still worked. We also entertained a few nights with friends who lived in Hale'iwa so at one point there was 11 of us in the rental and it was not crowded. Doug and Elaine provided a delicious fruit basket of local treats upon arrival... which didn't last past the first night, there were beach toys in the garage to use, and they were happy to answer any questions or concerns we had. The rental is close to all of the fresh markets which is where we did our grocery shopping for the week, Waimea falls, the north shore, and is centrally located to all other activities to may want to do. It was a 35 min. Drive from the airport. We are looking farward to making this an annual trip and would definitely rent here again!

Exceeded all expectations and then some. We would definitely stay here again. The property is nicer than in the photos, very clean and well maintained. Easily will accommodate 4 adults (in our case, 2 parents, a 20 yr. old and a 17 yr. old). The beach is only a 1 minute walk (Doug and Elaine provide chairs, towels and boogie boards) and from the front porch and back deck you get a breathtaking view of the mountains. The deck is quite large with a nice table to eat out, along with a full size gas grill. The kitchen is large and fully equipped and the only thing we needed to buy was our food. Its a short drive to Haleiwa (less than 10 minutes) for shopping, more beaches, and excellent restaurants (including Opals, best Thai food we've ever had and Ku Aina, for great burgers). We can't thank Doug and Elaine enough for their hospitality. They couldn't have been more helpful and friendly both before and after we arrived. They made us feel like family visiting relatives (and as it turns out, they live in the unit next door) rather than paid guests. You will be making a great choice if you choose to stay at this property.

Doug and Elaine are wonderful and this is a very nice place to stay. Close to the more "country" side of the island away from the hustle and bustle, which is just what we were looking for. Complete kitchen saved us $$$ eating out all the time and it was relaxing to be in an area we felt very safe in. Accomodations are very clean and well maintained - accurately described. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking to truly relax and wind down. Thank you for a memorable 1st trip to Hawaii! We will most certainly be seeing you again.

My family had a great time at this place. The location is perfect. 2 minute walk from the beach, 10 min drive from Haleiwa, beautiful mountain background - exactly what we wanted in a vacation to Hawaii. I would definitely come back to this place in a heart beat. Doug and Elaine are very nice and willing to work with you. It's a perfect place for 3-4 people. Their balcony has a nice deck where you can just lounge around and even BBQ. They have a fig tree and a lime tree in their backyard that we picked from in the morning for a little treat. :-)

In my opinion, my favorite part of the property was the lanai. We had all our meals but one there, was a wonderful place to sit and relax and read. The shade was welcome, the breezes were warm and the views were very nice, especially of the mountains. The beach, less than a 2 minute walk away was a good place to snorkel and get to know the local turtles. The house itself was a perfect size for three of us, and the rooms were clean and inviting. Our hosts were gracious and friendly without being intrusive, but always ready to assist if needed. Having a washer/dryer on site was a real asset. Waialua, a nice area in itself, was a great jumping-off place for exploring the North Shore of Oahu. All the surfing beaches were conveniently situated for short driving times, and even Honolulu was reasonably reachable. I'm sure that we'll be back again soon.

Like the other reviewers, I like the lovely beach close to this house (just 1-2 min walk)! You can swim, snorkeling and surfing. There is a playground on the beach park, our 3-years old enjoys it a lot. The house has a lot of space, and we use the kitchen a lot. Thank Doug and Elaine for their hospitality! We will recommend it to our friends.

We had a great time, this is not our first visit to the North Shore and relished the slower pace. Our condo accommodations were as represented, super clean, and well stocked with essentials very close to a park, beach and a great bike path that I used to jog on. The owners live on the property and were readily accessible and friendly, Thank you! Sun and surf were good, close to the best fruit stands. Had our share of rain, but even that didn't keep us from doing the things we liked - walking to the Waimea falls - taking the glider rides at Dillingham airfield (wonderful experience, birds eye view at 3,500ft.) - eating at the Crouching Lion (great clams) - walking through the Valley of the Temples (peaceful with an abundance of Koi in a large lagoon who love to be fed). Dole Plantation is a must if you love pineapple like I do. Dinner at Lei Leis (yum) Turtle Bay and beer and pizza with the locals in Haliewa, we will be back!!

This place was a really nice, clean, comfy place in a local neighborhood. The Hawaiian quilt, the handmade soap, the welcome bowl of fresh fruit all made our stay very enjoyable.Short walk to a beautiful local beach where I saw sea turtles just offshore. My son took a surfing lesson nearby in Haleiwa, a surfing town with big waves. Be sure to stop at the local Farmer's Markets and support the local farmers , bakers and artists. We cannot wait to return.

My friend and I stayed July 1-8, 2011. With Hale'iwa always being my FAV place on the North Shore, I wanted to stay in an area that I had stayed before, Waialua. Being a first time user of VRBO I wanted to do some research first. Upon reading the reviews for this unit I booked immediatley, for I knew I was making the right choice. Then upon speaking to Elaine on the phone to confirm my reservation her friendly manner assured me I had definatley made the correct desicion! When we actually arrived at the townhouse we were not disappointed, the pictures and reviews were 100% true. The place is clean, spacious, and has spectacular views of the ocean and mountains...plus we felt very safe, as Doug and Elaine were very hospitable and made us feel more than welcome. I would recommend this place to anyone who is looking for an adventure on the North Shore, the beautiful beachs and short drive to Hale'iwa this townhouse is paradise and perfect!!! The Hale'iwa Farmers Market, Cholos Mexican Restaurant, Surf n' Sea, Wai'mea, Pipeline, Sunset, Le'ia Point are all must see's when visiting the Island. Thank you to Doug and Elaine...I'll be back!!!! xoxox

This was a perfect getaway spot! This home is literally a 1-2 min. walk to a wonderful little semi-private sandy beach complete with bathrooms, shower and lots of sea turtles. Doug and Elaine were ideal hosts, too. They were incredibly welcoming and helpful - willing to provide tips for everything from great local restaurants to the best places to buy local produce! The home was situated perfectly to take advantage of the soft ocean breezes, and there's even a peek-a-boo view from the back deck! We will most certainly return - thank you Doug & Elaine for such an amazing vacation!

We appreciated the well-maintained apt equipped with everything we needed, and more. We especially made good use of the huge gas grill on the lanai. Be sure to stop in at Costco on the way up and stock up on grillables! The proximity to the beach meant we could get there in less than 5 minutes. It was windy most days unfortunately, but still the turtles were out in force every day. The nearby park also has a playground and basketball court the kids used a few times. You do need a car, but the drive into town is less than 10 minutes, and the shops at the sugar mill are even closer. The owners are great people, and having them next door meant we could always ask a question. It was fun chatting with Doug about all kinds of topics.

This place was amazing. The house was cozy, very clean, charmingly decorated, and well stocked. It had everything we needed. It's location in a real neighborhood, with such close proximity to the beach and to Kamama Highway made it the perfect location. We had a beach just a block away and easy access to the highway so we could venture out and explore the surrounding areas. The beach was amazing. The sand was gorgeous, the waves strong, and the sea turtles adorable. It was nice to have a beach so close by that wasn't over crowed. And being so close to Haliewa was really great. We could pop over there and check out everything, but we still had our cozy neighborhood beach to enjoy if we were feeling kinda lazy. Doug and Elaine were great hosts and made us feel right at home. I would rent this place again and I've already begun recommending it to others.

Hello Doug and Elaine, We can't tell you how much we appreciated staying in your comfortable and clean rental. It was truly a home away from home while we were doing our work on the North Shore. The location was perfect for quick trips to be the beach after work, and life on the North Shore is so much more laid back than the Honolulu area. We would recommend this location to anyone, even if they plan on making day trips to the southern part of the island. And Doug, the glider ride was an absolute blast. The scenery was beautiful and we felt very safe with you as our pilot. -Potato Gals, Bozeman, Montana
