High above the rat race, yet minutes from I-40, this spacious, rustic and elegant cabin lets you escape Above it All! Up here, you’ll enjoy discovering the special touches that await you throughout this charmingly appointed log home. Whether enjoying the cozy elegance of the four bedroom, three bath, three story cabin or discovering the local attractions that are conveniently nearby in Maggie Valley, Waynesville, Asheville or Cherokee, you will feel welcomed and instantly at home.
Every detail has been attended to and you will find special touches in every room from big fluffy bath towels and luxurious pillow top beds with hotel quality linens; to a graveled terrace in the yard, complete with a fire ring; to hot chocolate and candles waiting for you in the exceptionally well equipped kitchen cabinets; to a deck swing that lets you float out over the endless mountain views, soaking up relaxing moments, above it all.
With so much to see and do nearby, you’ll have a hard time deciding if you’ll spend the day at home enjoying the creature comforts and activities provided at the cabin, such as books, board games, video games, movies and satellite TV on the High Definition Wide Screen TVs (the one in the great room has surround sound), getting family or friends involved in a rousing game of pool in the rec room, or just relaxing in the oversized Hot Tub out on one of the two decks, perhaps after a stroll, hike or jog (you decide your speed!) along the endless country back roads that wind up and down in our area. Among never ending carpets of wildflowers, beautiful trees and abundant wildlife, the impressive ridgeline views of the Smoky Mountains will take your breath away, if the hiking doesn't! There’s even a Civil War period graveyard just around the bend, inviting the courageous to explore.
Just a short scenic drive will take you into the Great Smoky National Park and the Cataloochee Valley where more hiking trails beckon. This valley is home to the only herd of Elk this side of the Mississippi. The elk have been re-introduced into the park and are freely roaming through the valley. Wander and explore the preserved pioneer community while watching for the elk to come down to the open meadows for their morning and evening grazing. There are a number of beautiful waterfalls also in the area and you won’t want to miss the thrill of Sliding Rock – a 75 foot natural water slide!
In nearby Maggie Valley, you’ll find lots of fun activities. There’s skiing and snow tubing in the winter at Cataloochee Ski Area. In the summer, play golf, go rafting or horseback riding. The kids can race go carts, play mini golf or mine for gems among other things. Less than 10 minutes away is the delightful town of Waynesville with all the amenities you’d expect to find in a small city. The award winning downtown area of Waynesville has been restored to its earlier charm and glory, boasting wonderful shopping and dining. Downtown Waynesville is sure to be a highlight of your vacation-it always is for our family. And if you are up for a slightly longer drive, Harrah’s Casino is in nearby Cherokee and in the other direction, a mere 20 minutes away, is Asheville and the famous Biltmore Estate.
We invite you, whether as a couple for a romantic getaway, or a larger gathering of family and friends (we have a network of friends with other cabins within walking distance) to enjoy this wonderfully charming mountain getaway -- Above it All! |
