Our house - an old stone house recently restored to maintain its original character - is a few miles from Lucca in the green of the Tuscan countryside. The town of Lucca, with its famous ring of walls, can be reached in a quarter of an hour.
The motorway, which is close at hand, brings you in less than an hour to the artistic treasures of Pisa, Florence, and Siena.
The rolling hills of Chianti country and the Etruscan town of Volterra can also easily be reached. For rest days, there are many interesting excursions locally - on foot or by bike - to explore the Bientina marsh with its interesting birdlife, or the Pisan hills. Otherwise you can relax in the garden or beside the swimming pool.
The Appuan Alps, with their spectacular summits and historic marble quarries are less than an hour away, whilst on the other side of the Garfagnana valley there are the more gentle slopes of the Appenines.
For those who prefer the sea, the Riviera is half an hour away at Viareggio, whilst the wilder coastline of the Cinque Terre is only a little further afield.

Why the Owner Chose Lucca
We looked for a home fairly close to our work - and which also had potential for holiday renting.
Stonehouse was ideal - in the countryside - but with easy access to Lucca, Pisa and the motorways - ideal for our guests and ourselves.
In the first year we offered bed and breakfast accommodation in the house itself whilst we created 3 holiday flats in the winecellar and agricultural building which formed the other half of the house.
The flat advertised is one of these.

This villa was outstanding - from the central location, to the comfortable remodeled apartment, to the incredibly gracious owners - our expectations were eceeded in every way. I would highly recommend this villa to anyone who wants to immerse themselves in the beauty and culture of Tuscany.

Questo nido nel cuore della Toscana è proprio accogliente. Grazie per la torta inaspettata, per le luci di natale che hanno reso l'ambiente ancora più caldo e familiare e per il gattone rosso che ci ha indicato l'accesso scortandoci fino alla porta.
