Playa Cofresi house description
When we tell you that the oceanview from our Villa is spectacular, be prepared to have your breath taken away upon arrival. We call it Villa de Los Angeles, which means Villa of the Angels. We think you will find it heavenly to stay here.
Our newly constructed, 4000 square foot Mediterranean-styled villa was designed by a prominent Dominican Architect and is located in the quiet seaside town of Cofresi. You will love the cathedral ceilings, suspended staircase, large arched windows, French doors and circular master bath (even the bathrooms have spectacular oceanviews).
The dining room, as well as the "breakfast nook", seats 10 comfortably. Two of the four bedrooms have king beds, with a queen and two twins in the others (trundles beneath the twins can accommodate two extra children). All bedrooms have air conditioning. Our maid, Juana, will keep the villa immaculate for you and serve delicious Dominican meals if you so desire. There is also a variety of restaurants nearby - German, Austrian, and Italian and of course Dominican.

11 nights in paradise!
11 nights in paradise!
Except for my wife, who spent a week in an all-inclusive 30 years ago, none of our group of 5 58-70 year olds had ever been to the DR. We were looking for a warm weather getaway having spent some 10 previous Xmas' in Bermuda where we decided we wanted something warmer. We had an uneventfull flight to Puerto Plata where we were met by a driver who drove us the 20 miles to Cofresi. The 4 staff members were lined up to greet us and were given the house tour by the english speaking property manager Gabino who was available by phone if we ever needed him. Bienvenida, the cook/housekeeper was assisted by her lovely daughter Carla in keeping the house spotless and preparing our meals. they are there from around 7:30 each morning untill around 3 in the afternoon. Carlin, the pool attendant comes in around noon and is available in the afternoon to run any errands into Cofresi. The house itself is spectacular, it is in near perfect repair, luxurious and roomy. You live outside on the covered verandah, overlooking the sparkling pool and an unobstructed ocean view. The ocean beach is around 300 yards down hill from the house. We were hard pressed to even leave the house as it is just so relaxing there. From the moment you arrive, you have nearly nothing to do but relax and enjoy. Bienvenida prepares breakfast to order and we enjoyed coffee each day, early in the morning on the verandah. Around noon, we would hear the blender going and Pina Coladas were served poolside as a prelude to lunch. If you prefer, Bienvenida will prepare dinner and leave it warming in the oven if you are going out. there are several decent restaurants in Cofresi just a 10 minute walk down the hill. taxis are available in Cofresi to drive you home at night. The DR has stunning scenery. It is also a third world nation with attendant poverty (mainly visable in Puero plata). What was unexpected was the boisterous, friendly, loving nature of the DR populace. Everyone seems in a good mood, ready to party at a moments notice. You are treated as a close friend by everyone you meet. There is lots to do in the area and younger folks would be in heaven with all of the action oriented activities nearby. the only negative regarding this house is that the roads from the house down to the beach are very rough and steep, making the short trek a bit arduous for old geezers like us. A younger group wouldn't have a problem.

Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, girls getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.
We stayed here 2 years ago and have missed it ever since! We were placed here by Lifestyles resorts but had so much more than anyone down in the actual resort. The view was breath taking but what made it the best was our own Housekeeper Bonnita and the House Manager Domingo. Last year, we stayed in the resort and asked to be moved back up to our house in the mountains. No air conditioning except the bedrooms but we had a marvelous time. By the way, we stay at top notch places..Hilton, Hyatt, Mariott and have traveled around the Caribbean.
