Location: Wilkesboro, Blue Ridge Mountains, North Carolina, USA (by the Blue Ridge Parkway, Boone, and Wilkesboro off 421)

You will LOVE our SERENITY SUNSET CABIN on beautiful Buck Mountain! This GATED community offers a stocked fishing pond, a 65-foot waterfall, beautiful hiking trails, a covered picnic pavilion with grills and firepits. PLUS there are over one hundred miles of ATV trails.

You will be supplied the gate entry code to our magical getaway. The location feels "way out in the country" and our cabin is on SIX ACRES - so you have plenty of privacy. BUT we are close to Highway 421 (four lanes which are snow free all year round!), and then right up the mountain WITHOUT those death defying twist and turns some locations require! Our driveway turns right off the main paved road in the community, but from our house you cannot see anything but mountains!

We are between Boone (art galleries, restaurants, and ski resorts), the Blue Ridge Parkway (flowers and wildlife), and Wilkesboro (Wal-Mart and Merlefest!), and there are SO many activities to do. OR you can simply sit on the porch in one of our rockers and watch the spectacular sunsets over the breathtaking mountains.

The cabin is a real log cabin with great views. The three bedrooms have plenty of room with a king-sized bed in the master suite and two twin beds in the sleeping loft, then a king sized bed, sitting area, and bathroom downstairs. Our beds are the finest quality Kingsdown mattresses with high quality sheets.

The master bathroom has a shower/tub combination. When you enter the cabin you will feel like you have stepped back in time being surrounded by all of the authentic wood and lodge furnishings - but do not worry... there is a flat screen TV. PLUS HIGH-SPEED INTERNET with a little desk perfect for your laptop.

The great room has soaring ceilings that continue out to the roomy porch. The kitchen is EQUIPPED with everything you need - toaster, coffee maker, dishes, pots and pans, refrigerator with ice maker, full-sized stove, and MORE! Downstairs you have a full-sized washer and dryer. Local art covers the walls to make you feel right at home.

PLEASE NOTE THAT OUR PROPERTY IS NON SMOKING. If you do smoke - please choose another property as we are unmoving on this rule!

The property around the cabin is wonderful for hiking and deer watching. We also love to feed the HUMMINGBIRDS which frequent our feeders on the back porch.

We are very familiar with the surrounding area and would love to give you suggestions on the best places to eat, ski, boat, fish, shop, or spelunk! Several small towns close by have fantastic art that should not be missed.

There are some great mountain music festivals and events close by. Let us know your interests and we will steer you in the right direction... local style. We especially love to eat so we know the best place for biscuits and gravy, fried chicken, and GOOD BARBECUE.

  • This was a wonderful cabin getaway! Very clean, and just as advertised. We enjoyed the hiking, waterfall, nearby attractions like Grandfather Mountain, and time just relaxing, unwinding and being together in secluded nature. Highly recommended - by both parents and our children!

  • This is a lovely,easily accessible, cabin nestled in the woods, very private but with a Wal-Mart and Grocery store about 20 minutes away. Very very clean, and I am particular about that! We loved that there are three separate levels of living area: large upper loft with true high-speed internet, main floor AND an entire lower floor suite! The deck has a stunning view of the mountains and a beautiful sunset every single night can be witnessed. Beds are very comfortable, nice sheets (the same as I have at home). A little over a mile away is a wonderfully kept secret it seems: a BEAUTIFUL, lush, private, waterfall, even with a little 'beach' and picnic table and shallow water for wading and playing. Waterfall is a great place for a photographer (bring your wide angle lens)! Have nothing negative to say about the property and area whatsoever. Thanks! Oh yeah, icing on the cake is that the Blue Ridge parkway is basically a straight shot up Highway 421 only few minutes away!!

  • We loved the cabin. It was very comfortable and the view of the mountains was so refreshing and beautiful. Our son and his girlfriend joined us for 4 days and brought bear, our dog. We love that you allow pets to stay and enjoy the vacation too. We went up to grandfather mountain and loved the waterfall, We had a picnic there and went hiking. Our son enjoyed the privacy of the downstairs. This was our second time renting from you in 4 months. We loved your house in Little Torch Key too. They both were so homey and inviting and spotlessly clean. We wish you had a home in every state, We would enjoy them all I,m sure.

  • September 1 - 30, 2007. Loved the cabin. Saw lots of deer and humming birds. It was everything we had hoped for, and more than we expected. Loved all the hiking nearby. Blue Ridge Parkway was breathtaking. Stone Mountain, and Grandfather Mountain are just two of the beautiful places nearby. Wished we could have stayed longer.

  • The cabin is in a wonderful location. It is absolutely beautiful. The dect to sit on is great to watch the sunset and look over the mountains. The cabin is very clean and up to date. The waterfall and the fishing pond is very clean and beautiful. This is a piece of heaven for a get away place. Everyone must stay here for a peaceful quiet get a way. I loved my stay.

  • Debra Jo and family, We have stayed in numerous log homes in NC & TN and your home by far is the cleanest,most peaceful and relaxing place we have stayed in. The location of the home is perfect and the privacy and views are wonderful. Buck Mountain is a great location for a home,views,views views!!!! Your home has a great floor plan and the furniture is so comfortable. We just loved it and enjoyed our stay from February 10th-17th,2007. We spent several days driving around the Buck Mountain roads. It's such a big place with big views. The waterfall and pond is beautiful!!!! The Patterson's are so nice and they maintain and keep your home so clean. Your home is the cleanest vacation rental we have stayed in. I am so glad you allow pets,this is very important to most pet owners who travel. When we win the NC Lottery,we are headed to Buck Mountain to stay!!!!!! Hopeful you will add more pictures to your website showing the beauty of your home at it's fullest. We look forward to renting again!

  • What a beautiful and peaceful place! Your cabin was so clean and cozy and had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. We really enjoyed all the hiking trails and scenery (even spotted some deer and a fox on the property)and loved ending the day relaxing around the firepit watching the sun set and making s'mores. We will definitely be back!
