My family spent the week of Christmas in this great log home. The kids are already asking when we can go back. Actually they wanted us to move there! This was the best stocked cabin that we have ever stayed in (we usually stay in Pigeon Forge). Cabin was very clean, beds were comfortable. Great views! We took a hike down along the creek - a very challenging return, but fun! Had a lot of fun playing pingpong!! Would love to see a tub of some sort for relaxing in. :-) Kind of hard to find in the dark when it's raining - I recommend arriving while it's light. Nice to be in the country, but not far from basic needs, and close enough to Cookeville for a good meal. Caretaker stopped in to see if we needed anything - very thoughtful! Would definitely send friends! Hope to return in 2014!

Our 3 families (including 4 children) all had an amazing time together! The house has gorgeous views from all the windows! Some of us from Louisiana got to see snowflakes which we hadn't seen in years! Thank you for the thoughtful extras and the excellent cleanliness. The kids all loved the game room, Cumberland caverns, and the trails in our backyard! The house was the perfect size for the 10 of us. We hope to visit again next year!

I'm writing my review from the expansive back porch of this beautiful log home because I just can't wait until I'm gone to sing its praises. Two consecutive summers of schedules interfering with vacations left our entire family craving time away, and this has been the idyllic setting for it. The home is immaculate and comfortably furnished. Even the blankets and pillows smell fresh and cozy. I have read and even napped on the porch swing. We've gone to the observation deck to look over the bluffs, seen a cute little garter snake by the pond, picked a few wild flowers to fill vases, explored the hiking trail, added to our leaf collection (a touch of homeschool geekery), played rowdy games of air hockey and ping pong, and had evenings chilly enough for enjoying a nice fire in the great room fire place. With children growing up all too quickly, we will be forever grateful for these few days away, just the four of us. Thank you for anticipating the needs of your guests and providing this wonderful hideaway for a time of family and rest and family play time. It has been a genuine blessing.

Cabin well exceeded our expectations. Beautiful cabin with gorgeous views. We loved the front porch and our son and daughters loved the ping pong and air hockey tables. There was more than enough room for our family. Cabin is close to Cumberland Caverns, Falls Creek Falls State Park and Rock Island State Park. We will definitely recommend to others and would love to stay again.

The cabin was a little difficult to find tucked away in privacy but once we did were wowed! The view is amazing. It was a rainy weekend and we watched as the fog rolled in then made our way to the basement with all the game tables - still a little sore from air hockey. The cabin was well stocked with cooking utensils, towels, etc. and extremely clean. Hope to return again!

We spent a wonderful 5 nights in this incredible cabin! The pictures and video are very accurate although it is even more amazing in person. The owners did not skimp on anything. Everything was extremely neat and clean and well taken care of. It was very comfortable for my family of 5, my brothers family of 4 and our mom. We loved the huge table where we all sat and ate as a family. We did bring our own crock pot to make meals so we could enjoy the day. The kitchen is well stocked for cooking and meals. The game room was a huge plus as our kids loved it! They also loved the trails, the night bonfires and the huge rock formation out back. It is just a wonderful place both inside and out. We went to Disney last year...this beat that hands down! We love the outdoors and this was such a great balance of having fun, relaxing and spending good family time together. We loved Fall Creek Falls.. We played in the waters under the cascades, climbed rocks, slid down the small waterfalls and had a picnic lunch...so fun! We took a 3.5 hour canoe run through Smooth Rapids in McMinniville which was super fun and a great river to canoe down. The town is very small but that added to the charm. We tried to go to Sandy's Pizza Pit our first night but they were closed, we made our way to Skip's which was closed as well...however, he came out and offered to restart his grills to make us a dinner to go. Super nice guy! We went to Rock Island State Park and had a nice day there but was never able to find the ice hole and warm hole which would have been neat. We would highly recommend this cabin for anyone looking for a vacation get away!

Awesome secluded property that had absolutely everything!! My kids loved the den, the fireplace and especially the groundhog that lived out back!! The owner has taken such care to think of everything you may need and want and they have gone above and beyond to make the place feel like home. They have books, games, blankets and movies galore!!! She even also recommended a quaint little restaurant nearby that we enjoyed.

About the owner: I am a private pilot and could choose to have my vacation home anywhere; but I chose Spencer, TN. Why? Friendly folks, natural beauty, peaceful living. That's what I want in a vacation. You are close enough to Knoxville, Chattanooga or Nashville to go enjoy the Grand Ole Opre for an evening then come back out of civilization to the tranquility of the cabin.

Why the Owner Chose Fall Creek Falls:
There are 10 State Recreational Parks in the Cumberland Plateau area; miles of waterways and some of the friendliest people you will ever meet. Fall Creek Falls is amazing but do not overlook the other attractions in the area: Burgess Falls, Rock Island Falls, Cumberland Caves, Edgar Evans State Park, the Centerhill Lake area and the red roof cabin at Mountain Crest! While the area is beautiful - the red roof cabin at Mountain Crest IS your vacation destination. There is everything you could possibly need for a long term or a short terms stay. No worries if it rains: with over 400 movies, games, satellite TV and internet, there is no need to go anywhere else.

The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
My favorite things to do at Mountain Crest: 1. Sit by the fire 2. Sleep by the fire 3. Work by the fire (do you see a theme here?) 4. Play games in the game room 5. Sit on the porch swing and watch the day go by
