Great Fall Getaway

A friend and I rented "Blue Shutters" for the week of November 1st. The cottage was all that we hoped it would be, and we loved every day of our week on St Simons Island. We love to stay in real neighborhoods when we travel, and avoid strictly tourist zones. This was perfect. The cottage sits in a peaceful, quiet neighborhood of unpretentious homes. We walked to the village every day, and enjoyed bountiful, leisurely breakfasts at The Sandcastle. When we weren't walking, we were bicycling. It is possible to see the entire island by bike, and this is a great way to work off the food. The rental was easy to arrange, and we thought very reasonable in cost. We enjoyed a day in downtown Brunswick, where there is a beautiful restored theatre called The Ritz, as well as some great "upscale resale" shopping at Entre Nous Boutique. Also some lovely art galleries, and several antique malls. We spent a wonderful afternoon walking about the grounds of the Jekyll Island Club, and that is where we decided to have our special dinner out in their elegant dining room. It was always nice to return from the days activities and enjoy a drink on the "cocktail terrace" of our home. The yard is beautifully landscaped, and a very private and relaxing place to be. We plan to return, and recommend this cottage to others.

Just wanted to let you know how much we enjoyed our stay at your beach cottage. SSI is one of our favorite places year round. We love the history of the islands and just love being there! Your cottage is so nice and comfortable. The landscaping is lovely and the cottage is decorated so tastefully. "Adorable" actually does describe it! Our favorite spot soon turned out to be your precious sunroom....a great space to relax, to snuggle up with a good book and soak up the beauty of the mighty oaks. We hope to be able to visit again soon.
Owner response:Thanks so much! We glad you all enjoyed our cottage. The sunroom is my favorite spot also. Hope you will be back soon. Melanie

Very good experience! Location is fabulous...5 mins to Beach, Food, Town, everything. House was very clean and comfortable. The pool seemed small at first, but our family really enjoyed it and spent a LOT of time in it. The pool is partially shaded (just right) during the heat of the day. Backyard has privacy and lots of nice trees with spanish moss. Also, owner is organized, efficient and responsive to inquiries. We definitely recommend this property.

What a wonderful beach getaway! We loved everything about our stay in St. Simons and the cottage was absolutely perfect. It was comfortable, well-maintained, and we felt "at home" the minute we arrived. We enjoyed being close to the pier and village and spent several evenings watching the locals fish off the pier. East Beach was close by and really nice!! We had a great time and hope to return next year. The cottage provided everything we needed and we loved the pool and backyard - it was soooo relaxing!!! Thanks for making our vacation so perfect!

We loved the house and St. Simons. This was a senior high spring break outing with 5 wonderful young people. The house was perfect for us with the wonderful private backyard and pool. The house suited our needs well, especially with the two separate TV viewing areas. We loved everything about the house and island. House nicedly located to enjoy the village and all the fun activities around the island. In fact, I'm going back this year for a girls trip. Terryn, Bill and the "seniors."

The house is decorated beautifully and is very cozy. The pool was an extra bonus, along with the hammock, it looks and feels like your relaxing in a tropical garden. We have been vacationing in St. Simons for 12 years renting various condos, but no more. We have found our island vacation home. Thanks Melanie for being so nice. GOD Bless!

We stayed in this adorable cottage April 12-19, 2008. From the moment we arrived we knew we would have a great stay. This was our first trip to ST. Simons Isle. and what a good first impression. The cottage was clean and fresh and so warm and cozy. It was large enough for my family and the yard is immaculately groomed and beautiful. The huge Live Oak trees are breathtaking. My kids (3) were in heaven with the lovely pool in the back yard with the privacy fence. They swam all hours of the day and into the night. The little enclosed porch on the back of the house made it nice to watch the kids from inside the house. Everything was thought of for you. There were many things there just in case you forgot them from home. The house is centrally located between town and the beach. We rented bikes and pedaled our way around the island and had a wonderful time. The cottage had many books, some of which were from our favorite authors. There were 2 TV's, DVD/VCRs and we just had everything we needed and more. Thank you for your hospitality. The decor made us feel at home and we had one of the best vacations ever.
