Location: Tahoe Donner, Lake Tahoe North Shore CA, Lake Tahoe California, California, USA (Truckee to Reno=45 min, to Sacramento=2 hrs, to SF=4 hrs) View Map
Accommodations: House, 2 Bedrooms + Loft, 2 Baths (Sleeps 4-10)
Keywords: House, Home, Cabin
Behind the street-side flat driveway and garage (great in winter) you'll enter the bright house from the western front deck (there is another deck off the back of the house which gets great morning light). The environmentally friendly pellet stove and central gas heat will warm you in the cold months, while the house stays cool naturally all summer long.
The loft covers over half the floor plan, allowing for good air flow and a feeling of spaciousness. Downstairs the living room, dining room and kitchen are open to each other. The 2 entrance-level bedrooms face south and comfortably accommodate up to 6 people. There is a Master Bedroom (west) with a queen bed, and a Family Bedroom (east) with a double bed and twin bunk. You can expand upstairs into the Loft which can also accommodate up to 6 with a twin bunk, double futon, queen futon (on the floor) and extra twin mattress (on the floor).
You’ll feel connected to your friends and family in the warm and social atmosphere of the house’s layout. Whether you’re cooking, relaxing on the couch, watching a movie (many old VHS videos are available at the house, or bring your own DVDs), reading (many books are available to peruse during your stay), eating, or stretching after a long day out on the mountain, you’ll have the space to do it. If quiet privacy is what you’re after, simply hide away.
The house is easy to get to even in bad weather - it is on Northwoods BLVD, the main Tahoe Donner road, which gets plowed well, and since it is at the far end of the road’s loop, there is little traffic. Also, the driveway and front deck are plowed for you on heavy snow days, so you can get in and out of the property without hassle.
Well-stocked but not excessive, you’ll find what you need to be comfortable, relax, and enjoy your vacation no matter what the season. We are looking forward to working with you.

Why the Owner Chose Tahoe Donner
I (Lori) found myself visiting Tahoe Donner year after year, renting different houses with groups of friends. When the idea struck to invest in a property, the answer to "where?" was quite obvious. So I looked for a house that would accommodate a group of friends or a family, that had 2 bathrooms, was easy to access even in bad weather, and felt comfortable to hang out in. I think we found just the right place!
The Unique Benefits at this House
I love taking advantage of the proximity to all of the ski areas. We decide everyday where the best snow and weather are, and we go there. Then, we head to the jacuzzi on our way back home for dinner... or maybe we eat at one of the awesome restaurants at the ski areas or around Truckee, Tahoe City or Kings Beach.
As much as Winter in Tahoe is Fabulous!, Spring, Summer and Fall visits allow for hiking, biking, rock climbing, swimming, tennis, golf (I play mini, but there are several world class golf courses nearby), visiting the hot springs in Sierraville, exploring local history, boating and playing at the lakes (Donner and Tahoe).
There is always heading to State Line or South Lake for a bit more excitement, and so much more it would take too long to add it all in here.

They bought this lovely vacation home to have a "home base" in the Sierra Nevada Mountains after Carol bought a condo in Park City, Utah before the Olympics. We had a fabulous time !! Staying at Tahoe-Donner makes it easy to enjoy your stay even when there isn't much snow (we LOVED the pool at the Rec Center); the cabin was very comfortable and spacious; kids loved the loft and we enjoyed the Lazy Boys; and we spent most mornings just hanging out. Now we are just waiting for more snow so we can come back. Thanks for sharing your cabin!!!

We had an amazing time at this cabin. We so much appreciated everything being well stocked and clean. Ski passes were available for a local resort. Plenty of linens, pots, pans, and dishwear were available. Close to stores. The garage was big enough for two cars and stocked with shovels and anything you could need. Our trip was awesome. The management was great and the cabin was better than the pictures. I have no complaints. We didn't want to leave. :)

Ama, Thanks for following up. I should let you know that we had a great time at the house. I appreciate that you were able to pull this together at the last minute. We made use of the Tahoe Donner pool as well as the bread maker. Everything went great. That's it... thanks again, JB

Hi Ama, Thanks for setting us up with your rental house. We all had a great time and really enjoyed being able to hang out together in one space. I liked the place a lot, it had lots of room and was also cozy. We will probably try to rent it again next season. We went to northstar for snowboarding and I had an awesome day.... Thanks again, Lisa

Hi Ama, Our stay was great, we liked the house very much and the weather was nice as well. We would definetely consider your house for our future vacations again. However you really need to install high speed internet connection - this is a must nowadays and many houses in the area do have it! Thanks, Alex.

Everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves and thought the house to be "tres mignon" (very cute). We made full use of all the facilities and even baked three loaves of fresh bread in the bread maker! Kate and Emma set off to go swimming one evening but ended up sitting in the jaccuzi for an hour. Erin watched Jungle Book every day, Kate watched as many of the other movies as she could manage, Ted slept in the massage chair (several times) and we cooked every night and had family dinners with lots of laughing and chattering. We had two cars so we were pleased they both fit in the garage. Every time Erin looked out the window she was amazed at the snow (her first time in snow and apparently every time was like the first time!) Lots of fun, Thanks! Erica
