Wow, what a wonderful home. My family and friends were so happy and had the best time during our stay. Everything is so nice, from the kitchen to the game room, to the hot tub! Not to mention the Porsche, golf course, and the views! I have stayed in almost 20 VRBO locations now, liked them all a lot, but never wrote a review. That says it all. If your staying in Telluride, this is the place! Thanks Barry!!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, people with disabilities, tourists without a car, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

What a beautiful home! And the owner was so accommodating. We had 11 people there during the Blues and Brews Festival, great fit! Enough space and more for everyone. Kitchen had everything we needed. Great shuttle and Gondola service!! Most of all what an amazing setting. Beautiful views from everywhere. This is an outstanding property which accommodated our diverse group very well. We were traveling with grandparents, (2) families, (3) college age boys, and (2) high school age girls. We successfully cohabitated in this wonderful home because of the many separate living areas that are all well appointed. We have travelled extensively worldwide and definately rate this property a "10".Recommended for: Tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

We just returned from our third visit to this home. We love this place, and dread each time we must leave. In planning our last family vacation before our oldest leaves for college, we wanted to spend that time in this house and at this location. Every detail is ideal, and the double rainbow that preceeded the last sunset offered a perfect ending. Thanks again, Barry. We'll be back.....Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

What a wonderful place! The pictures on the internet were beautiful but nothing to compare to the real thing. We had six adults, an 18 month old, and two dogs, so we all had plenty of room to relax, watch TV or escape to the game room. The view of the mountains is absolutely spectacular, and across the fairway are herds of elk and cattle. Our little granddaughter ran barefoot in the soft grass in the evenings with the dogs at her heels. We have such great pictures of that. The gondola in Mountain Village takes you right into Telluride free of charge, but you can also drive into town and hike beautiful trails with the dogs off leash and then come home and hop into the hot tub with a glass of wine and enjoy the gorgeous scenery. The guys in our group went fly fishing several times once with a wonderful guide, and played golf on what they described as the most beautiful coarse they had ever seen. Everyone and everything about our stay made us feel welcome. It was a real treat for everyone, especially our weimeraner who played so hard he could hardly walk at the end of the day. Great memories.Recommended for: Age 55+, tourists without a car, pet owners, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

We have a mixed group of adults that has been skiing together every year for about 10 years. This was our first trip to Telluride. This was by far the best accommodations we have ever had. Your house is beautiful and the descriptions and pictures don't do it justice. We had 9 adults and saying we had plenty of room is an understatement. The views from the great room alone are worth the price of admission. The house is exceptionally well appointed and equiped. The use of the SUV was great because, except for needing the car to stock up on groceries, the transportation system was great and we had no need for a rental car. The shuttle from Montrose was easy, the Mountain Village shuttle service service was wonderful and the gondola system was a treat. The people that work at Telluride Resort were unexceptionally friendly, welcoming and helpful. Several of us are already thinking about how we can get back there in the summer now that we have seen the area. Thank you for entrusting such a beautiful home with so many exceptional furnishings and decorations to us.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing.

We had a wonderful time at your beautiful home in the Mountain Village of Telluride! Your home was more beautiful than the pictures on your website. All of us could find places in your home to retreat to enjoy the peacefulness and serenity of the area. One morning I saw a herd of elk passing and at another time I saw a fox. Your home was very family friendly and perfect for enjoying our Thanksgiving time together. We really enjoyed taking the gondola into town from the mountain village. Quite unique, fun, and beautiful! As you told us, the ground was covered in snow where we could not see the grassy golf course. This makes us want to come back and visit in the summer where we can enjoy the golf and see the beautiful green scenery. It will be totally different, but still beautiful, I'm sure. Our daughter who has lived in Durango and now Boulder could not get over how close and magnificent the mountains felt. One day, my husband went fly fishing and caught some fish and looks forward to returning to the area. Thank you for renting your home to us! It was perfect! Sincerely, susan morrow (Tulsa, OK)Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, people with disabilities, tourists without a car, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2005
About the owner: My name is Barry Cox. For 25 years Steve Butts was my best friend. We met in Aspen where he lived and I had a vacation home. In the early 90’s Steve left Aspen for Telluride speculating on it’s future and started Telluride Properties now the largest real estate company in Telluride. Steve loved the outdoors and took advantage of it everyday. He was an excellent and avid skier, sailor, scuba diver and spanned the globe golfing including the notorious St. Andrews course in Scotland. We spent many adventures and vacations together. Tragically and ironically in January 2005, he lost his life at the age of 48 to an avalanche while 2 groups from Aspen and Telluride were helicopter skiing in Canada. I was in the other group. For 16 years, Steve had skied the same outfit and run and had said that if he died he wanted it to be in Canada powder skiing with his friends on a run called Subaru Trees. And that’s what happened. Steve is one of the greatest person’s I’ve ever had the privilege of knowing.
Why the Owner Chose Mountain Village:
In 1997, Steve built a beautiful home early on in the development of Mt. Village. It’s situated on the 8th fairway with breath taking views of mountains and wilderness from every room (sprinkled with a few homes and ski runs now) in all directions. In August of 2005, a group of Steve’s friends started a memorial golf tournament in his name with proceeds going to the local youth’s ski team. Steve’s house was currently on the market furnished including the Porsche Cayenne. During the weekend someone mentioned that I should buy the house and keep it “in the family.” I was already staying there and the next morning I got up and started looking at every room and saying “this is a great house” tasteful furnishings, stereo system throughout, game room with pool table, outdoor spa, master steam shower & Jacuzzi, and a SUV!
The Unique Benefits at this House:
The rest is history so to speak as guests will notice there is a refrigerator outdoors with a plaque on it that says “This one’s for Hilby!” Apparently, Steve Butts settled a commission to local realtor Steve Hilbert by keeping the refrigerator stocked with Coors beer forever! I maintain the tradition in Steve’s honor along with an assortment. So when you see the golf carts drive up and people get out and help themselves to a cold one you can bet they knew Steve Butt’s and still call him friend.
