We have stayed at the Riverhouse many times since first discovery. The accommodations are charming; better yet, the host is a delight! We now feel more like family than friends. The location allows for travel to Acadia, Camden, Deer Isle and all the "hidden gems" of the Penobscot region. Can't imagine life without The Riverhouse anymore! Peace to all who enter...S&SDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 5/6

Our week has seemed like two -- We have done so much from sightseeing on the coast to walking nature trails in Dennysville. We also greatly enjoyed the view from the deck of the Riverhouse. Thank you for a wonderful week in Maine.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We have fallen in love with Maine and your quaint little house. We have felt so at home. From lazy days on the deck enjoying the sunshine to busy days visiting beautiful areas such as Stonington, Blue Hill and Bar Harobr.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

The Riverhouse is a wonderful, comfortable vacation home. I suspect it would also be a wonderfull full-time home. If you ever decide to sell, let us know!.........Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

It is one thing to find a nice vacation spot, but quite another to discover a place that feels like home. There are many things about the house and its location that make it a deal, but have no doubt that it is your friendship and the unending kindness of the entire family that have us picturing ourselves growing old right here at the Riverhouse.........Did you find this review helpful? Owner info
Year Purchased: 1988
About the owner: I'm a retired corporate auditor who grew up 2 houses from my rental property so know the region well. Many hours were spent during my 'growing' years on our beach as that was our playground. I, now, am living in my mother's house which is where I grew up.
Why the Owner Chose Orland:
While growing up near my rental property, I delivered the weekly paper the 'Grit'. After many years of decline, the house was eventually passed down to family members living in New Jersey. After they realized that the distance was too great for them to use the property as a vacation house, they offered the property to me as my parents owned all the ajoining property to the water. I bought the house and started renovations which took about 1 & 1/2 years to complete.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
The most unique benefit for visitors would be the private beach where one can sunbath with or w/out clothing, fish, swim or just walk looking for treasures. A short 5 minute walk will get you there. If that is too much of a challenge, try relaxing on the deck overlooking the river.
