My family was in Beaufort this weekend for a family reunion that we have every Father's Day weekend. We decided to rent a house this year and found this on the vacation webpage. The house was everything the family reported it to be. The rooms were very comfortable and the kitchen well equipped. We loved sitting on the porches enjoying the early morning breeze. We would definitely rent this house again to enjoy having everyone close instead of in a hotel.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car.

The pictures did not do this house justice, it is so beautiful in person! I stayed in this home with 3 other women for a quick vacation at the beginning of February, and we couldn't have been happier. First of all, the location is perfect, because we were able to walk to Beaufort's downtown waterfront and shopping within minutes. The house was clean and comfortable, and the owners were extremely nice. I highly recommend this home for anyone wanting to experience the wonderful city of Beaufort, SC. I know we'll definitely be back!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We stayed there weekend of 1/20/2012. As our Marine son was layed to rest in the military cemetary. The house was wonderful and all of our family could stay and we had the after funeral dinner there. It was a great time for the grandchildren to spend with family, as they had lost their father, they really enjoyed sliding down the stairs. We hope to visit again for different reasons and a happier time. We walked around the area with the girls and it was really relaxing. And because it was so big, folks could gather in any area to visit. I think we loved the upstairs porch the best. Just a great get a way.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

Great place for a family gathering. Location is ideal for many and diverse interests. A little of everything is readily available. Shopping, restaurants, state parks, beaches, fishing, history, tours, etc all nearby. As experienced renters, very disappointed in the cleanliness throughout house. It did not meet basic cleanliness standards. Sheets and towels require replacement.............some frayed, stained, and with holes. Wonderful house that can and should be improved as a rental.Owner response: To Dawn: We are very happy that you enjoyed your stay and the location of the home, but sorry that you had other problems. We want all of our guests to be comfortable and happy, and will do anything we can to ensure that you have a wonderful stay. I only wish that we had been notified of these issues at the beginning of your stay so that we would have had the opportunity to correct these issues. We would have been happy to have the home completely re clean , and switch out your sheets and towels with brand new ones. I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience. If you want to stay again, let us know and we will be happy to give you a reduced rate to compensate for your trouble. Nathan To future guests: Our guests approval is very important to us. We do everything we can to ensure that your stay is as perfect as possible. The home is cleaned thoroughly after every stay, and the sheets and towels are replaced once every 2-3 months. Our family is down several times a month to check on the property. If you are renting our home and at the time of arrival there are any problems, let us know and we will anything we can to make you comfortable and happy.

We recently had a small reunion of old high school buddies at the North Street House. We found the home very clean and well taken care of. The house was located within walking distance to most everything in downtown Beaufort, which was wonderful. The owners are very easy to deal with. We are planning to come back next year as well. Great house. Wonderful location.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

A group of friends and I stayed at the North Street home in early November, 2011. This is a beautifully restored historic home, and a truly unique place to stay. The location of the home was perfect. We did not need our car do go out to eat or visit downtown Beaufort. The owners of the home are a very nice people. We found the home to be clean and comfortable. Highly recommended to anyone who wants to experience downtown Beaufort at its best. Would love to return.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Four "old" guys/golfers will be staying for the 2nd year at this clean and well decorated historic downtown Beaufort property. The property owners are friendly and ready to help, and are always available by phone or email. The property listing and photos are accurate. The house is within walking distance to shopping, restaurants, grocery stores and the harbour/tourist areas. The kitchen is well equipped. There is a clothes washer and dryer. Good parking space across the street for 2-3 vehicles. This property is highly recommended and is reasonably priced for our Nov/Dec stay. NOTE TO VRBO: Your "arrival date" box would not allow me to put in 24 Nov 11 - the calendar would not scroll past the month of Aug.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, tourists without a car, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thanks very much Walter and we look forward to having you again this year! Nathan Christmus

My family just returned from our stay in this wonderful home. We were visiting the area for my Sons Graduation from Parris Island. The house was well equipped, fit our large family of 12 very well and the location was amazing! Short distance to Parris Island made our two days of visiting the base very convenient. The shops and restaurants were in walking distance and very quaint and enjoyable. The owners are very pleasant and accommodating. It fit our needs perfect! I would highly recommend this property.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, sightseeing.

We so enjoyed staying in the house for the week of our grandson's graduation from Marine boot camp. It was exactly as described in the info we were given. There were 11 of us and we were very comfortable. Walked downtown and around the neighborhood several times. It was so nice to be able to cook our graduate his favorite foods on graduation night. Would highly recommend it to anyone wanting to stay all together in one place.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, sightseeing.

We travelled a long way to Beaufort from the Regency City of Bath, Somerset, England and were totally delighted with the wonderful house on North Street which we found after exhaustive searching. We were three girlfriends - worn out professionals looking for a restful but inspiring trip and the beautiful house - which is enormous, certainly fitted the bill. Nestled in the historic district of Beaufort we were side by side with so many beautiful houses, the beautiful tidal riverside, restaurants and shops to visit - much of which has been discovered by Hollywood as some of the houses have been used for film locations. We ate in most of the nearby restaurants and there is a big basket of helpful information with restaurant in attraction listings in the house. We particularly enjoyed the Tooting Egret where we sat outside and had lunch. Also greatly enjoyed using the bicycles to roam around the local lanes where the Spanish Moss hangs from the Live Oaks - just what we hoped to see. Everything about the house was just as described, it was clean and well maintained, the owner was charming and took the trouble to call by and say hello one morning. We would certainly recommend this house and the family who own it to other travellers. We aim to come back another year to give us more time to spend in Savannah and to visit Charleston which we had to miss - I think we spent a bit too long on the top veranda drinking wine and letting the world pass us by!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We stayed at a wonderful house in Beaufort. There are more sleeping accomodations than the web site said, we found out they had an extra single bed and a double bed that was kind of like a futon. The house is beautiful, the kitchen is big, plenty of room to sleep and it was close to Parris Island. 11 minutes away. We traveled back and forth several times over the three and half days we were there and it was quite easy and quick. We were within walking distance to a nice coffee shop and we only had to drive 2 miles to get to a food lion (continue across the draw bridge and go a couple of miles and Food Lion and Publix are on your left). Walk or drive down to the waterfront by the draw bridge and get some ice cream and swing on the swings overlooking the water. The owner will give you a discount for Parris Island families. I checked the price of hotels nearby and the price for this house if you have a few people staying is way cheaper than hotels and so much fun. 5 star recommendation from this Proud Marine Dad. The address is 608 North Street, Beaufort, SC and the web page is: http://www.vrbo.com/104921Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, sightseeing.
Owner response: Hi Jim, We are very glad that you enjoyed your stay and found the house comfortable for you and your family! Best wishes for the future and congratulations to your new Marine! Nathan Christmus

I came with my family of four a few weeks ago to Beaufort for eldest son's US Marine Corps graduation and was very impressed. Tucked away in the heart of downtown historic Beaufort, this beautiful home reminded us of what it must have been like to live in the Old South. As a owner of a small restaurant and chef, I have pretty high standards, but the home was very clean and well kept. Great kitchen too. The Owner was also extremelely accommodating and friendly when arranging our stay. We were close to the downtown area shopping, restaurants, and just a short drive to the marshlands and beautiful beaches (not to mention the graduation!). My sons and I also played a round of golf at the nearby Secession golf course the day before we left. It was an incredible golf course with pristine views and stunning layout. Checkout was super easy and my family and I all left very happy with the trip. Do not pass up a chance to stay at this home in Beaufort! Our experience with this Owner has been a true representation of genuine southern hospitality and we would definitely come back again! Ps. Warning: summertime storms can be intense here, but fun and amazing. Don't forget your insect repellent and drink plenty of water down here. It's kind of hot some days as is most of the south. Cameras during sunset a must! We had extended family coming in from Tallahasse, Greenville, SC, Virginia and West Palm Beach. We were all able to stay together and celebrate our Marine's graduation. We cooked and ate together and walked in the historic neighborhood and down to the waterfront and shops. The home is roomy and comfortable for a crowd. The Christmus family were so accommodating - our son was ill during recruit training and his graduation was moved ahead 5 weeks while he recuperated. We were able to move our reservation ahead without any problems. A handwritten note of welcome greeted us and everything in the home was clean and beautiful. We are actually looking for another house to rent to celebrate our nephew's graduation in December and I realized I never wrote the review as I had intended. Sadly, this wonderful home is already reserved for those dates. You will surely enjoy the charm of this southern beauty!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

I stayed at this rental home back in November 2008 for my then boyfriend, now husband's Parris Island Boot Camp graduation. Altogether there were many of us who stayed in this house, it accommodated us all. I believe it was 16 people total. My husband's family & also my family all stayed in the house for about 2 weeks. My room was the room upstairs that is next to the bathroom, through the large room with the extra twin/full beds. The house was beautiful, first thing I noticed. I loved the upstairs porch. I sat out there for hours on end. There are plenty of bathrooms, all the rooms are large, nothing teeny tiny or crowded. The downstairs living room has a TV, & the master bedroom has a TV. There's wireless internet & just every accommodation you could want. The house is in town, so it can be kind of tough when you leave the drive way, but not too bad. The drive to Parris Island was around 15 minutes or so. We spent time at the beach, fished for crabs at the park pier which was probably 30 minutes away, can't remember the name. I never found any shopping nearby, but I was too busy spending time with my new Marine. I really have mostly great things to say about this house, it's just amazing. My husband, myself, & his family are all the time saying "we wish we could go back to that rental house!" & we probably will some day, if it's still available. The ONLY negative things I would say: we did find some hugh cockroaches in the house. None were laying around dead, it was a very clean house. I'm a clean freak, too. I've been to GA & stayed in a rental home where we came in the first day & there were dead cockroaches laying around the house. Gross! NOT at this house, it was clean. But they did come in sometimes, it is the south. They're pretty large, about the size of a small hand, so they're easily noticed so you can kill them or get rid of them. They probably come in through drains so if you wanted you could close the drains off at night or when not in use. The only other negative thing I would mention: we never met in person the owners. They were pleasant, but kind of irresponsible with being in contact with us. My husband's family tried renting the house out last year & these people wouldn't return their many calls & emails. They seemed nice, but I don't know what the deal was. Otherwise, everything was completely perfect. Amazing stay in this home!Recommended for: People with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

What a wonderful place to stay! This was the first time we have stayed in a vacation rental. The home is lovely, was very comfortable, and was just a very short walk to town and the wonderful shops and restaurants. The owners have done a great job. It is beautifully furnished. In fact, our daughter said to tell the owners that she wants to come back with a UHaul and take the furnishings with her. And, if she could, she would take the house too!! I certainly would recommend this home to all that are interested in coming to the Beaufort area. It is especially well suited for families coming to the area for the graduation ceremonies at Parris Island, which was our reason for coming!Did you find this review helpful?
