We're eager for your business, so check our availability and bring us an offer...
Named after an Austrian ski chalet, "The Alpenrose" is a unique and charming log cabin located on the romantic West Shore of Lake Tahoe.
Very "Old Tahoe" in look and feel and tucked away in the pines, an easy walk from the lake, Ward Creek, or Kilner Park with its tennis courts, swings, sand volleyball, and play structures. "The Alpenrose" offers a wonderful and rejuvenating escape from civilization. Majestic logs embrace the downstairs living room, kitchen, and dining area. Curl up with a book in front of the stone fireplace. Hardwood floors and tree-filled views round out your experience. Despite the rustic décor, there is wireless broadband internet, the kitchen has all the usual modern conveniences, and there is a full-size washer and dryer.
Upstairs find two comfortable double bedrooms, a separate "kids room" with two twin beds a bunk bed, and a (small) trundle bed, a newly remodeled full bath, and a "media room" with an outstanding home theater (61" Samsung TV, Blu-Ray DVD with streaming internet video / movie rental, and high quality (Miller Kreisel / Yamaha DSP A1) surround sound system), cable TV and a Playstation. A small video and gaming library is also available for your use. The bathroom and adjacent mudroom downstairs were also remodeled last year allowing for a convenient back door entry, a new knotty-pine bath with shower, and a new extra-large water heater to help get all those vacationers out the door and on to the slopes or hiking trails.
TESTIMONIALS!
"We LOVE this cabin! Great location on the wonderful West Shore. We have rented it twice and will be back again. Great for kids-walk to creek to catch tadpoles in Summer. Very positive experience. Owner is very friendly and responsive."
M.C., Martinez, CA
"We have rented cabins at Tahoe during the winter for the last six years, and the Alpenrose is our favorite so far. It is so cozy; the heat just radiates from the spiral staircase, and the owners spare no expense on the bedding. The location is perfect; we were skiing at Homewood five minutes after breakfast! The neighborhood is safe enough to allow kids to roam. I walked down to the creek - didn't want to leave. The owners are very gracious."
K.H., Woodbridge, CA
"We loved the Alpenrose! This was our first visit to Lake Tahoe with our daughter and dog. The Bernese Mt. Dog was in cold heaven and the teenager gave it two thumbs up! We especially enjoyed the warmth of the cabin after really cold dog walks to the creek. We'll be back when the snow flies! The cabin's location is fantastic and we had a wonderfully relaxing visit in what felt like our home away from home. We really appreciated the friendliness and accomodating nature of the owner."
L.C., Mill Valley, CA
"This cabin is a great place to stay with kids. Very quiet, great location to creek, park, lake, and everything! Great sleeping arrangement for kids-very quiet at night. Our best cabin rental in Tahoe yet!!"
K.S., Napa CA
NEARBY ATTRACTIONS:
Although this Lake Tahoe cabin is quiet and secluded, the lake and numerous activities are within easy walking distance. Choose your season for fun in the mountains. Do not forget, Spring and Fall can be fabulous.
SUMMER:
Kilner Park, with two tennis courts, a sand volleyball court, and wonderful children's play structure is less than a five-minute walk away. In the other direction, is the rush of Ward Creek, where our young children have spent many an hour. A wonderful bike lane winds through the trees for miles around the lake (bike and boat rentals locally available).
In your car you are 15 minutes from some spectacular Lake Tahoe beaches and less than that from beautiful state parks, or shopping in downtown Tahoe City. Perhaps you would rather float a raft down the Truckee River. A little longer and you can enjoy sunshine at Squaw Valley, or night life in Truckee or a local casino.
WINTER:
Snowshoe or ski in the nearby park, or drive minutes (against traffic!) to the family-friendly Homewood ski area. Note that the property is in a flat neighborhood, minimizing the risk of needing to put chains on your car. The driveway is also regularly plowed.
Drive a bit further to world-renown skiing at Squaw or (our favorite) Alpine Meadows.
NOTE - Avoid Driving!! - On the weekends there is a free shuttle bus that goes to Alpine's backdoor (10" ride to bottom of the Sherwood chair lift). Pick up is a 5 MINUTE WALK from the cabin!! Tickets can be purchased on the bus. See Alpine's website for more info.
Après ski at the local Sunnyside Lodge or the Black Bear Inn (both within walking distance) is a perfect way to wind down the day.

Unique Log Cabin! (Wifi, Netflix. Walk to Lake, Creek & Park)
Year Purchased: 1994
Why the Owner Chose Sunnyside
We were engaged at Inspiration Point (Emerald Bay), Lake Tahoe in '94 and had been in love with the area before that. We bought our "cabin house" the same year and have never looked back. The Tahoe "West Shore" retains the heart of the traditional "Old Tahoe" and has always been our favorite part of the Lake: a little more quiet, traditional, old school...
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin
The "West Shore is the Best Shore" they say. Mornings at The Alpenrose are quiet and peaceful. In just 2-3 minutes one can walk down to Ward Creek, or the other direction to Kilner Park to play with the kids or hit tennis balls. A 10 minute walk takes you to Sunnyside Lodge for sunset cocktails on the deck (highly recommended) or just walking along the shore of Lake Tahoe, checking out the boats and the views. Beautiful!
Kid's playground with slides and swings, tennis courts, even sand volleyball, all hidden in the trees!
Beautiful and on the lake. Great for lunch or dinner. An easy 10 minute walk. Sunset cocktails on the deck can't be beat!
Local market for all those last minute necessities: milk, charcoal, movie rentals, marshmallows/chocolate/graham crackers!
Public access trail. Across the creek is wide open protected forest. Playing at the creek has been a kid favorite for years...

Great Family Vacation Cabin

This is a great cabin! If you are looking for that Tahoe "log cabin" type of vacation then this is just right. It had more than enough room, and everything you need. The appliances were top notch, there were lots of dishes and the heater worked wonderfully. And the place is very clean. The cabin is close to everything, including Homewood, Granlibakkan, the lake, and the Fire Sign Cafe. Lots of room to play outside, and lots of boards games and video games to play inside. It also has a really nice theater room. We had such a relaxing time. The whole family just had a great time and we would definitely stay again!

Amazing cabin in the heart of the Tahoe. Next to the Tahoe City and yet away from touristy traffic. It is quite conveniently located near Alpine and Squaw (about 10 min away) and few minutes from the lake and awesome kids friendly park. I stay there for 2 weeks over Christmas and New Year with my family. We were welcomed by clean and neatly prepared rooms. It was plenty of space for all of us with-in 4 rooms. I was pleasantly surprise to see that tv room had convertible bed as well. Kids enjoy playing video games while adults relaxed by cozy fireplace. Kitchen was all packed with all necessary modern appliances and utensils making cooking of the meal a breeze. During the stay we had to use washer/dryer in the mud room that helped us to reduce amount of cloth we had to take with us. It seems that owner of the place stays there often themselves and look after this place. That created a small unexpected issue that we had to share drawers between ours and theirs cloth. After relocating some it around we had plenty of space to organize our stuff during the stay. I would definitely keep this place on my list for next stay in Tahoe.

Our family of 4 (plus the dog) rented this rustic Tahoe cabin for a quick weekend getaway in January. From the initial contact, the owners were responsive, easy to deal with and very accomodating. We loved the charm of the downstairs, which seems to be the original cabin. The upstairs is surprisingly spacious with 4 comfortable bedrooms and a bathroom. The large screen TV and video games were a big hit with the kids after a day on the slopes, while we were happy to kick back in front of the cozy fireplace downstairs. The kitchen was well stocked with all the necessities from pots/pans to olive oil & condiments. We found a great neighborhood hill for sledding a couple short blocks away, and the cabin is just a short drive to Homewood, Alpine and Squaw. Overall, a very comfortable location for a family weekend getaway.

Out of all the cabins that I've stayed in during my visits to Tahoe, this is BY FAR my favorite! Aesthetically speaking, it's absolutely charming. From the outside, the cabin looks like something the cookie Keebler elves would reside in. Inside the cabin, the walls are covered in various art pieces, ranging from scenic mountains to skiing artifacts. Very nice touch. Aside from pure looks, accommodations were first class. Heating was working on queue, shower water was always warm, and beds were very cozy. As beautiful as the cabin is, I'm the harshest critic when it comes to cleanliness (I'm a clean freak). This place was spotless! The owners must spend quite a bit on cleaning services since cabins in Tahoe are particularly susceptible to dust bunnies. Was surprised to not find any in this one however. Guys, this one is definitely a winner. I HIGHLY recommend it!

Sitting on the cozy couch in the down stairs sitting area in front of a roaring fire, I couldn't help but imaging the Keebler elves whipping up a batch of cookies in the quintessentially adorable cabin! The showcase of the house is the amazing spiral staircase that gives the cabin a tree house feel. The owners, however, have done a great job updating the cabin to suit modern day amenities without compromising the cozy feel. The kitchen was outfitted with everything I could imagine I'd need and had really nice new appliances (It is nicer than my kitchen at home!). The upstairs TV/ game room was a huge hit- the TV is gigantic and has every gadget a kid could ask for. Since the TV is so big, sporting games are really fun to enjoy when the weather doesn't allow for outside play time. The short walk to the Sunnyside Lodge is ideal and there was a really great breakfast the owners recommended in their comprehensive welcome packet that really guided me through my stay. When it was time to leave, we were all trying to come up with an excuse to stay another night because we enjoyed it so much. Tahoe is such a fun place to visit, and your Tahoe trip isn't complete without this adorable cabin!

My wife & I spent a relaxing month at Alpenrose and it is in an ideal location. 1/2 block from Ward Creek and miles of Forest Service hiking/biking trails, 3 blocks from Sunnyside resort, and 1 mi. from Tahoe City. The first story is of classic log construction with stone fireplaace. The kitchen is well stocked with modern appliances and there is a bathroom with shower off the "mud room". 2nd floor consists of 3 bedrooms, one bath and an entertainment room with 62 in. TV, blue ray DVD player, and a knock-out surround sound system. Highly recommended!

We had a good time at the cabin, this was our first time in Tahoe, location is good, 2 miles south of Tahoe city, where you find a save mart, for part of 7 , we avoided dining out this way, thus money was saved. The cabin was perfect for 7 of us, 4 kids were in the same room ,a bunk bed and 2 separate beds. The kids spent long times in the TV room(60 inch). They walked to the creek, except they came back 1st time with wet shoes(oops). our little dogs also made friends with these 2 older dogs in the neighborhood, who freely invited themselves to all the cabins' yards. We enjoyed the lake, Truckee river rafting and 2 day trips to Reno and Carson city.

I brought my two sons (ages 6 and 2) for a "guys" weekend away. The cabin was much more room than we needed for just 3 but very comfortable. Everything we needed was there. Very convenient to outdoor activities, river and lake. Playground right down the street. We rode our bikes (2 yr old in tow) around the area. We didn't even use the media/game room because we were outside most of the time. Perfect for children of any age. The cabin was perfect for our needs! Owners were great and provided all the info we required before arriving. Highly recommended!

We had a great time, great location - we took many walks in the neighborhood, the neighbors were all so friendly! We had tons of snow the weekend we went (Easter) which made it perfect for the kids! The kitchen was well stocked, which was handy because I cooked a turkey dinner one night ;) The owners are easy to work with, we would stay again! Very safe, comfortable and clean.

This cabin was really clean and comfortable with all of the amenities that you would have at home. It was a great couple's getaway, very puppy friendly with trails right up the street. Really close to Squaw and Homewood! Thanks so much!
