We loved the "Cottage". Although, it is larger than a cottage, in fact, larger than we expected. We enjoyed our stay so much. Our family came to visit while we were there and didn't want to leave. The creek in the back is just steps from the huge deck and was calming and peaceful! Our grandson loved the paddle boat and our nieces enjoyed the canoe. They also played pool in the garage that was styled nicely. The bedrooms were more than adequate - 2 bathrooms were handy when my brother and his family decided to spend a few nights with us. Oh, the kitchen, can't forget the kitchen! Fully stocked! We cooked Shrimp Creole and served 13 people on the deck! Plenty of everything to throw a little party! Susan, thank you so much for being easy to contact. I hope I get to stay there again. My family is already telling all their friends about the cottage!

This was a huge vacation for my family. I want to first say the owners were fine to deal with and very helpful for the few things we needed tended to (A/C wasn't working properly which they quickly brought us a window unit). This house is an older home. When we arrived I was a little taken aback by the cobwebs on the garage. There are 3 bedrooms, 2 of which are down stairs the master and a room with two small beds. The 3rd is upstairs in the "attic" room is what we called it...you have to duck to go up to the futon or the twin beds. not the best for adults...the kitchen was capable of serving a family 6. The deck is nice. The biggest draw back for me was the bedrooms. I felt they lacked attention to detail/cleanliness and as far as the master one of the lamps was really dirty and broken. The master shower curtain has mold/mildew...again a detail that could be tended to. Leaving anything other than positive comments is really difficult for me; however, I heavily relied on all reviews for everything while in PA, so I felt it only fair to represent. The pictures of the house are only of the living area and patio...no bedrooms are shown...I would recommend asking for one prior to renting The game room is in the garage however it is very musty and hot.....for a pool playing family, we never used it! Again, this house is old and it shows...nonetheless it did meet our needs. One other thing I think bears mention...When we came home from a day trip I noticed that there was new furniture on the patio and the boat and chairs were straightened....This would have been fine if a note was left stating what was done....however, it was not and left me feeling as though the owners family (which lives next door) came to check on the house while we were out. I AM NOT SAYING THEY DID....just a feeling. As grateful as I was to be with my family I have to say that I could not recommend this house. We have rented several VRBO's and we know we have been really lucky with our homes....this one was a let down.

Owner response: "I was disappoint to read the recent review as it is just the opposite from the comments we usually get. It was especially disconcerting given the extra effort we made to immediately address any of the concerns that the renters brought to our attention. But we welcome the feedback and will look into each of the issues that were highlighted. FYI, I do not live next door but try and visit the house as much as I can, the new patio furniture and the cleaning of the boat were provided as a courtesy during my most recent visit. We live 2 hours away, and make ourselves available to respond to any and every request or concern. The bedrooms are well described. The upstairs bedroom has 2 single beds, as does the downstairs bedroom. The master bedroom has a king size bed. In addition, there is a queen size futon upstairs that can be used if additional bedding is required, and we advertise it as such. The house is definitely old, but has been renovated many times since its original structure in 1950, when it was a quaint little cottage. The kitchen is completely modernized, and we enjoy a family gathering of about 20 (and sometimes more) every Thanksgiving, which not only includes Thanksgiving dinner on Thursday, but many more meals over our 5-day family holiday. I welcome all comments.

As I type this, I am sitting on the back patio (the one in the photo), "drink" in hand and listening to the creek waters roll by. My fiance and I got this place for our wedding reception and for however great we thought it was when booking, we were blown away when we got here. Outside is peaceful and inside is spacious and cozy. If you are looking for a place to rent in Boiling Springs, this is the place to go...plus the owners have been great to work with.

We had a fabulous time at this quaint and lovely home! There were 6 of us who had rarely, if ever, spent time away from our husbands/children. It was better than we anticipated and certainly the relaxing weekend we were all looking for. We are anticipating another trip here in the fall!

We just returned from a relaxing week at this cottage with family. It was the perfect location for our mini-reunion. It is nicely decorated and stocked with high-quality linens and kitchenware. It made it feel like home to have such nice details. We got out on the paddle boat and canoe where many of the funniest memories took place. :) And the brothers enjoyed the pool table well into the night. All our daytrip destinations were much closer than I even expected. We intend to return next year a little earlier in the season to catch some of the summer attractions we missed.

We just returned from our visit to Boiling Springs and have to say that we had a wonderful time! The house is beautiful and well furnished. We were pleasantly surprised by how spacious it is and how tranquil. The fishing was good, loved seeing the ducks (whom we named Bob, Bernadette, and George), and just relaxing in this great setting. The owners were friendly and saw to our every need - even once we arrived. The location is very convenient for day trips to Hershey and Gettysburg. Boiling Springs itself is a beautiful setting. The pool in Boiling Springs and the Children's Lake are definitely highlights. This is definitely someplace that we look forward to returning to again!

This property is a treasure. Well maintained home right on a creek with use of a canoe and life jackets available. Linens provided of very nice quality and washer and dryer makes unpacking once home a breeze. Owner was a pleasure to work with and make arrangements with. A great place to relax and unwind, but also centrally located to many central PA day trips. We will be trying to find a sight to see near by just to use the property again. Thank you so much for sharing your home!

If you are looking for a get-away that is near a big metro area, but still feels like you are a million miles away, this is it! With a short 2 hour drive outside of DC, we were able to enjoy a tranquil weekend of relaxation and fishing. We took advantage of the use of canoe and paddle boat, and lovely dock in the backyard. We also were able to grill and enjoy the deck, swing, and grassy backyard. We also enjoyed walking around the lake and historic homes in the village of Boiling Springs. The home was clean and had ample space for six adults. The owners were very informative throughout the rental process.

My family and I rented this cottage for a holiday weekend and were very happy with the accommodations. The cottage was clean and well maintained. It had all the necessary household amenities with a nice fireplace that made it very cozy. Sheets, linens and hand soaps were provided. It slept 5 adults and 1 child comfortably with a large master bedroom and bath. It has a nice deck and swing in the backyard which we enjoyed. And the view of the creek was pleasant. A train does cross close to the house, but we did not find it to be detraction to the property at all. The location was relatively easy to find in the area and the owner was very pleasant and responsive. I would recommend this property to a friend. We rented it site unseen and were pleased. If in the area again, we would rent this property again. It is a nice getaway!

In addition, I have received many positive responses via email. The following are just a couple: We had an absolutely delightful time. The accommodations were terrific, the weather and fish cooperated, we had some nice quiet time on the deck as well as a great hike up the South Mountain, and fully enjoyed several meals at the Boiling Springs Tavern. All in all a perfect weekend.. Thanks for making your wonderful house available to us. Just wanted to let you know again how wonderful everything was at the house. We enjoyed it immensely. We hope to come down again maybe in the fall. I think this will be one of my favorite spots to visit with my family. I hope you found everything okay on your end when we left. Again thanks so much.

Loved it! What a peaceful little cottage to get away from it all. Our group of seven Moms made the short 45 minute trip from our homes (just far enough to get away from the kids and husbands) for a weekend of scrapbooking, movie watching and alot of just silly girl talk. We highly recommend the pizza at Anile's, yum! Next time we plan to try the Tavern. We just can't say enough about the place. The word "picturesque" definitely fits. - The Scrap Sistas Katie, Heather, Melinda, Laurie, Linda, Beth and Holly

Our family of 6 stayed at this beautiful cottage, and had a wonderful time. It had all the conviences of home. It was so peaceful sitting out on the beautiful deck or on the dock feeding the ducks and geese. My kids ages 5 to 15, especially enjoyed taking the canoe and paddle boat out on the shallow peaceful creek. We even tubed from the beginning of town to the cottage. It was like relaxing on a lazy river. We also enjoyed going into the friendly town of Boiling Springs and swimming at the local pool which actually has four pools and waterslides. We took day trips to Hershey, Gettysburg, and Harrisburg. All were within 30 minute drive. I can't say enough good things about the cottage. It's great place to get away, yet close enough to all the modern conviences of shopping and resturants. The owners were outstanding, and truly went out of their way to make sure our family was comfortable in the cottage. Thank-you for helping us to make wonderful memories for our family.
