Hummingbird Villa is a quick five-minute walk to the heart of Windwardside village, yet secluded and a world away. We offer the discriminating traveler two suites with full baths, ocean views, and walk-outs to the gorgeous, exclusive pool, decks and gardens from the principal rooms. There is a separate poolside guest house with huge bath and sweeping ocean and mountain views. There are also two apartments with full kitchens and baths. Our total capacity is 12. No matter whether you are two persons renting only the main villa or a group of 12 renting the villa, guest house and apartments, you will be the only people who are on the property when you rent it, so you will have absolute privacy and exclusivity.
Hummingbird Villa is a roomy, elegant Plantation style, state-of-the-art home on two fenced, gated acres that offers every possible amenity, appointment and comfort. The Great Room has 20-foot ceilings, six sets of French doors and views of six islands and the ocean. We have a gourmet kitchen; two indoor and two outdoor dining areas; gate house with intercom that leads to a walled patio with lush tropical gardens; wireless, high speed internet; air conditioning and ceiling fans throughout; huge deck and pool deck for sunning; observation deck with the best views on Saba; Jacuzzi tub in master suite with pool, mountain and ocean views; large, shaded back yard with ocean views. My partner, myself and another couple stayed at the Hummingbird for a week Feb 22, 2013. I have been in the travel industry for almost 30yrs now and can honestly say the Hummingbird Villa has been one of the most amazing and wonderful accommodations I have ever stayed in. For me, what truly makes a place, a trip, an experience unique and priceless is undefinable. I could say it was the fantastic views, the comfortable rooms, cooling pool, fully equipped kitchen, the books and movies available to it's guests. It could be the great location to everything such as hiking trails, restaurants, grocery stores etc. It could have been the excellent attention to detail and prompt service we received from the very moment we emailed the owner to inquire about the property to the house manager and gardener that made sure we had everything and were taken care of immediately. But I think that these are only parts of the sum of a whole experience that will leave you wanting more...and constantly thinking about when you can go back. You know when you are somewhere and you get that feeling of just letting go and exhaling? Come to the Hummingbird Villa and experience Saba....there is truly no place like it anywhere else. Each of us came home with memories to last a lifetime. Thank you Dan, for creating and imbuing the Hummingbird with love and wonderful energy, may we repay you in kind one day. If you're looking for luxury in a remote and exotic setting, Hummingbird Villa's the place for you. Dan has thought of everything. We travel a lot, and rarely have our expectations been exceeded like they were at Hummingbird. Saba is a place of unsurpassed natural beauty, simple yet elegant. The fragrant breezes, the sounds of the birds, tree frogs and goats, and the endless sky and ocean make for a restorative place to rebalance. Walking is not for the faint of heart! There are steep hills and the roads are narrow. But there is little traffic, and people are courteous. Although there isn't much night life, there are several excellent restaurants. And, of course, the caretaker, Paul, is an extraordinary chef and chocolatier.....if you want to be pampered at home. Treat yourself to the most wonderful house and view on the island!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My husband and I just got back from our Honeymoon stay at Hummingbird Villa!! We cannot say enough wonderful things about this property! It was by far the most relaxing vacation we've ever taken! The house is absolutely beautiful and the views from the decks are unbelievable!! Dan, the owner, answered all of our many questions and suggested some wonderful "must do's" during our visit! We are already planning a return trip to visit the beautiful Hummingbird Villa and wonderful Saba!!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

Dear Dan, Christmas in the Hummingbird Villa, the place where dreams are made. The Ruff family needed to relieve stress from the 30 degree snowy weather of New York City. We wanted to share the Christmas season and celebrate our daughter Kyrah's 16th birthday somewhere "nice." We got "heavenly." The Caribbean island of Saba was the location and the Hummingbird Villa was our answer to the place where dreams are made. The warm sun and gracious hospitality will not be forgotten. You all helped make our daughter Kyrah's birthday a memorable one. My favorite room is the den. At Hummingbird, I was able to write and let my creative juices flow with the natural ease of the warm winds, and that feeling was sheer heavenly pleasure. The 7 AM sun was all I needed to start my writing juices and in the evening, the sweet harmony of the little frogs was a delight. Continue giving and sharing your fabulous villa. As I'm sitting outside absorbing the morning sun, with a view of the Caribbean strewn in front of me, thinking of how to describe my time here...our time here...at Hummingbird Villa, I realize the pillow in the great room says it all...this place truly is a slice of heaven! This is our first time to Saba, but definitely not our last. I'm plotting stragegies to get back here as soon as possible. It's a place you never want to forget. The Hummingbird House is definitely the place to stay if you're planning a trip to Saba. The diving on Saba is not to be missed and was the main reason we traveled there, but staying at the Hummingbird House was another highlight of our trip. The house is very clean, well furnished, and has incredible views of several other Caribbean islands. Sunrise every morning was worth getting up early for! We spent far more time at the house than we'd expected, just because it was so comfortable! I definitely recommend staying at Hummingbird House.Did you find this review helpful? We are two couples from Saba's sister island of Statia who wanted a close-to-home getaway to relax, unwind and rejuvenate. Hummingbird Villa was just the ticket to do that. The four of us thoroughly enjoyed our time reading, relaxing, seeing the island and just enjoying each other's company in such a fabulous home. My niece was married on Saba. That is why we came to Saba. We LOVED staying in Hummingbird Villa. We saw many other accommodations, but we all thought our house was THE BEST. We loved the deck and spent mornings and evenings there....watched the sun and moon rise. I would love to spend a week here just relaxing. Thank you Hummers. Carol R. The visit here is beyond words. I will try to paint a picture of Hummingbird Villa and Saba. The grounds, pool, foliage, beauty and comfort of hte home are incredible. The view from the deck is amazing. This is more than a place to stay, it is a place of calm, secluded peacefulness, a welcoming that embraces your body and your mind. We have eaten some fabulous food, met some very friendly and interesting people and enjoyed the local culture. This has been the trip of a lifetime. We will return. Ciao! About the owner: Having grown up on the ocean, I'm a die hard diver, fisherman, swimmer and surfer.
Why the Owner Chose Windwardside:
I visited Saba on a diving trip and immediately fell in love with the incredible reef, pristine hiking trails, unspoiled natural beauty of the topside, but most importantly the people, who think and live outside the box and are among the most loving and kind in the world.
During my first visit, I was invited to people's houses for dinner, everyone waved as I passed, and people remembered my name. When I went home, I had Emails from the locals asking when I was returning. I felt like I had left part of my heart on Saba, so I returned 5 times and eventually bought a property and created Hummingbird Villa. My family and friends love it here, and we go out of our way to make each guest's stay a memorable experience.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
Hummingbird Villa truly has a soul. It beckoned to me from the moment I set foot in the main house. The unique, warm, 18' wide cedar plank floors seem to come up to meet your bare feet. The spectacular sunrises over the ocean, with a view of 6 islands, is one of the most beautiful in the world and one never tires of it. The property is maintained with love. The villa is right across the street from the mountain road up to Mt. Scenery, so you can walk across the street and hike up to the highest peak in the Netherlands, or walk 250 feet in the other direction and hike down to Spring Bay, or walk 5 minutes and be in the center of the Windwardside village. At the same time, the villa sits on 2.5 secluded acres, so you can swim in the altogether without a care in the world. The property is substantial and designed to accommodate a large group while giving everyone privacy, space and unimpeded access to all common areas. Between the main villa, the guest house and two turnkey apartments, this property will comfortably sleep a group of 12 with plenty of breathing room.
