Perched on the edge of a cliff, overlooking the undeveloped island of Great St. James, Cabrita Cliff Haus is one of the most 'island-elegant' additions to the St. Thomas repertoire of fine villas.
From the moment you open the doors you are swept to sea by the alluring infinity pool and panoramic view. Waves swirl dramatically on the rocks below. You could watch them for hours. A spiral staircase leads you down the cliff to the second level accommodations. The Trade Winds blow almost endlessly around and through the house. Although it's fully air-conditioned, you probably won't want to use it, especially if you like being lulled to sleep by the sound of the waves.
We love to watch the parade of boats, turtles and tarpon on the reef below and seabirds flying by (we're pelican height), not to mention parasailors from the Ritz Carlton, which is a 10 minute ride away with its beautiful beach, fine dining and shops.
This elegant and beautifully appointed residence filled with original artwork, towering live palms, travertine marble floors and mahogany doors has 5 bedrooms each with a king-sized bed and a media room with a leather queen-sized sleep sofa. The bedrooms have private baths with glass vessel sinks, marble showers, flat screen T.V., DSL and fabulous views from the terrace of each room.
The master bath has a whirlpool tub and is tiled with gorgeous red Italian marble.
Two of the five bedrooms are downstairs with another full kitchen, living/dining room and full sleep sofa in the America's Cup Suite. This could be utilized beautifully as a two bedroom suite for a couple with children.
The large living room with a vaulted cypress ceiling opens through sixteen foot wide sliding pocket doors to a covered terrace for dining alfresco or just lounging, giving you an unobstructed view of the islands beyond. Furnished with custom furniture from Bali, you'll feel transported.
A formal dining room, with a six foot round table that seats 10 and is crowned by a designer, crystal chandelier, has a stunning view of St. John. At night while dining, the twinkling lights in the distance are beguiling.
The fully equipped granite and mahogany kitchen has a six burner duel-fuel range, French door refrigerator, additional ice-maker, dishwasher and microwave all built around a central island. A chef's dream and it has a 'dream chef' as well, available by reservation for your convenience. Cabrita Cliff Haus also has a gated driveway, two car garage and its own generator.

- Cabrita Cliff Haus is a 10 min. drive to the ferry dock in Red Hook, where you can take a 30 min. ferry to the British Virgin Islands of Tortola or Jost Van Dyke (passport required). It's a 15 min. ferry to St. John with it's fabulous beaches and hiking trails. Just a 30 min. flight from Cyril King airport or the Seabourne seaplane ramp takes you to St. Croix for 'gambling' at Divi Casino or 'rambling' through Whim museum. Old San Juan is just 40 miles west and offers a charming 'old world' experience with its fort, El Morro, art galleries, cafe's, restaurants, museums and shopping. St. Thomas has great golf at Mahogany Run. Coral World marine park for all ages. Also, some humpback whale watching Jan. through April. There are Kayak and snorkel tours through the mangroves as well as Atlantis Submarine tours. Why the Owner Chose Cabrita Point
We bought the piece of land a few years earlier on what happened to be our jogging route. I told my husband that I thought it was the last great view on the East End of St. Thomas. You will, too, if and when you stay there. I usually do the orientations for our guests and I just love to see their expressions when they walk in the door!
The Unique Benefits at this Villa
Cabrita Cliff Haus is unique, in that it is very private, spacious and the views are mesmerizing. One can sit for hours just watching the sea and sky or the parade of boats passing by. At night it's even more beautiful with the moon rising over St. John or the star-studded sky.
CCH it's also conveniently located to Red Hook, the small community on the East End, where you fine great restaurants, bars, boat rentals, shopping and the ferry dock to St. John, downtown Charlotte Amalie and Tortola, B.V.I. Sitting at the mouth of Great Bay, CCH is also near the Ritz Carlton, with it's obvious allure. Their Beach is also the nearest although famous Magens Bay is a mere 20 minute drive. Everyone knows that the East End is THE place to be.

We are avid sailors and love swimming and diving. The Virgin Islands are the perfect place for these pastimes.
My husband is a builder/developer and 45 year resident of St. Thomas who sailed here from Hamburg, Germany. He came out of retirement to build CCH and I've never seen a man happier in his work. We opened the doors to delighted guest on Dec. 26th 2006.
I'm originally from Ft. Lauderdale, Florida and have always been an 'island girl' at heart. This was my first decorating experience from scratch. Each piece of furniture was made in Bali. Giving each room a theme lessened the huge task. The Haus is over 8,000 square feet! We have suites named, appropriately, Antilles, Africa, Asia, Australia and the America's Cup Suite.
My husband and I travel extensively and we're always scouting for somewhere else we might like to live. Every time we see our tiny island coming into view on the approach, we're so happy to call St. Thomas 'home.'
