Lakeway house description
You will begin to unwind and relax on the undulating drive upward towards 334 Explorer, the luxurious Chateau Lakeview, located in the heart of the beautiful Texas Hill Country. At first glimpse, it is nestled, tall and proud, among shady trees that overhang its many covered decks. Large, at over 3000 square feet, with sleeping accommodations for 16, it offers comfort at every level. No amenity has been overlooked.
We welcome wedding groups. We are geared up for families of the bride and groom as well as the bridal party.
As you enter the Chateau and step onto one of the four spacious decks, you will be thrilled by the breathtaking views of Lake Travis and the surrounding Texas Hill Country. Proceed up the stairs to the recently added Super Deck. Don’t forget your camera! The stunning views of the lake framed by stately oak trees in daylight, and the shimmer of a glorious Hill Country sunset reflecting off the lake at dusk, as well as the spectacular star gazing in the evening will provide cherished memories of your Hill Country weekend or vacation.
The luxurious master suite will lure you with its cozy fireplace, shower for two, and roomy soaker tub perfect for two. Recently remodeled in 2013 we are set up with great mirrors and lighting, loads of electrical outlets and a place to steam special clothing.
A separate sitting area in the master suite affords desirable privacy. On the same floor as the master, is the main living area with a large television, a sofa sleeper for two, separate wet bar/fridge, half-bath, dining room with vaulted ceiling, a breakfast room and spacious kitchen; the envy of any gourmand. The kitchen is designed for large groups and contains a double oven, cook top, two warming drawers and warming trays to keep dinner warm for the whole crowd. With four separate dining areas, there is lots of flexibility for serving and feeding your crowd. Don’t go buy the paper plates until you see the number of dishes and flatware the kitchen contains.
The upstairs decks will entice you with ceiling fan, speakers, and chic furniture for dining and lounging while you lazily watch violet and gold sunsets over the lake in the distance.
With three ice-makers in the house, you will never want for ice. Downstairs are three bedrooms. One, a mini-suite, serves as a second master with its own private bath. A Jack-and-Jill bath accommodates the other two bedrooms. Open to the spacious, shady backyard, lounge on the patio and watch your kids or pets play. A second large downstairs living area, with a sleeper sofa for two, boasts its own wet bar/fridge and second television. If staying connected is necessary, a desk here provides high-speed internet. A propane gas grill is located on the deck off of the formal dining room. Makes for easy access from the kitchen. There is a table and chairs there as well so folks can visit while the chef cooks. Don't forget to pick fresh herbs from the kitchen garden below in the back yard to make your meals extra yummy and pleasing to the eye.
Stored are two additional roll-away beds, and two 12 inch thick blow-up beds, just in case you need to sleep 16 guests total! A washer and dryer are conveniently placed in the upstairs master closet, and also at the back entry, where there is a spacious garage and large driveway for multiple cars. Pet lovers? Not to worry; the fieldstone floors are pet-friendly.
The fenced backyard, framed with a variety of fruit and shade trees, provides a wonderful home-away-from-home for the family dog. The covered patio in the back yard has luxury furniture for relaxing and a ceiling fan to keep you cool.
Our golden retriever Geraldine strongly recommends Chateau Lakeview for your pet. There are three separate areas for water and food for your favorite pet...no horses, please!
Information for boaters. The Lakeway Marina is about a mile from the house. Phone number is 512/261-7511. You can rent boats or a slip for your boat. Call the Marina about where to put your boat in. Slip rentals are $30/night or $150/week.

Pulling in to the driveway of this beautiful home, I knew I was in for a relaxing weekend. Nestled in a quiet neighborhood surrounded with trees and boasting several decks in both the front and rear of the house, this house looked like the perfect place to relax. How could it not be? Walking in to the house, I got the same impression. The house was beautifully decorated, comfortably furnished and complete with all the essentials for a great stay. There was even a variety of University of Texas pieces that are essential for any Austin area home. We really enjoyed sitting on the front decks in the comfortable chairs and watching the sun set over Lake Travis. Not only was the house beautiful and relaxing, but it also had plenty of room for all your friends and family and a kitchen big enough to cook for all of them.
Lake Travis is just a few minutes from the house and it offers endless outdoor entertainment options. Whether you're boating, swimming, hiking or enjoying a picnic under a tree, you’re sure to find something fun. If you’re looking for something different, make the short trip to downtown Austin and check out one of the many clubs for some live music, restaurants for some delicious food, or any of the other hot spots that make Austin a great city.
Whether you choose to spend your days enjoying the beautiful Lake Travis or exploring downtown Austin, you couldn’t ask for a better, more relaxing place to lay your head.

We have rented numerous properties in Austin the past 7 years and this is the best so far. Gorgeous views from the many decks that are furnished with comfortable patio furniture. We grilled out several nights due to the very nice propane grill and multi-decks. Very roomy and everything you need is provided. Living area was great for watching football with a bar with ice maker in the living room. Incredible master bedroom and bathroom and the other rooms are very nice. The photos are very accurate. Close to many golf courses and restaurants. We will definitely plan to stay here in the future. Thanks

We needed a place close to the venue of our daughter's wedding, and this location was ideal. We had everything we needed. When the bridesmaids came over to get dressed, we set up both hair and makeup in the master bath. It was perfect! We had room for both activities even with the occasional visitor coming in to check out the progress. The next day we hosted a farewell luncheon for the bride and groom and all of their out of town friends. I knew they all were eager to get into Austin to shop and hang out, but the multiple decks were so conducive to relaxing conversation that everyone stayed later than we expected. We could not have found a better location. The pictures are very accurate in showing the property, and it has everything you need, including my favorite - nightlights! To top off the wonderful experience, Sue and Royce were incredible in their hospitality. They were very familiar with mother of the bride nerves and were most helpful and accommodating. I lucked out in finding not only a great location, but great owners as well. I highly recommend this property.

The home and surroundings are so beautiful! My husband and I fully planned on hitting the Austin scene, but once we got to the property, we just wanted to sit on one of the peaceful decks and enjoy the view. The home is beautifully decorated and luxurious. Do not miss out on staying at Chateau Lakeview! We waited way too long to experience this beautiful home. Sue and Royce: Thank you so much for opening up your home for people to relax and getaway to! Oh, and Chris, my husband, would like to thank you for the UT decorations!

We rented Chateau Lakeview for the week of my daughters wedding at the Lakeway Resort. We had lots of family in town for the event and it was the perfect location for us. The house had plenty of room for us to entertain family as well as complete all of our wedding projects. It was right in the neighborhood and easy to go back and forth to the resort for wedding events. The house was so clean and well kept and had everything you could possibly need for cooking. We loved sunsets on the deck and morning walks in the neighborhood and watching the deer. I highly recommend this rental. Thanks for sharing your beautiful home.

Great girlfriend getaway spot!
Great girlfriend getaway spot!
I stayed here last night for a girls getaway in celebration of my birthday and upcoming marriage. The home was spotless and extremely spacious, especially the enormous master suite! Everything is in fantastic condition. The large kitchen was wonderful to cook in, with every possible piece of cooking equipment you could need. We loved sitting on the upper deck that overlooks the lake--it's a little ways away, but still gorgeous and peaceful! With so many bedrooms, we all had plenty of space to spread out and have a little privacy. The dining room and living room are large, making it really easy to have together time with a group. It's also really nice that there is a second living room downstairs. I highly recommend it for a girls getaway or large family vacation! We had a great time there and felt right at home.

Sue, I just wanted to tell how wonderful your home was this weekend for my Mothers family reunion. My Mother is 86 years old and wanted her entire family together one more time. The family came from California, Chicago, Washington and London to be with her. She stayed at our home in Lakeway but we would take her over each morning so it was a constant visit for three days. The Château was perfect. Everyone couldn’t believe what a wonderful house was available. Your hospitality was tremendous and is greatly appreciated. I will continue to suggest to friends that this is a perfect place to have a weekend in Lakeway. Thank you again. Best regards, Ron

Charming House - Dream Kitchen!
Charming House - Dream Kitchen!
My family and I stayed at Chateau Lakeview to celebrate my husband's graduation from MBA school. The house definitely lived up to the pictures and extremely clean (even for a germaphobe!) We were greeted by UT paraphernalia which was a very good sign on our arrival! We planned many meals to cook and grill at the house and it was a dream to cook in the kitchen! It had every single gadget, spice, pot, kitchen utensil you could ever ask for. And there is so much room on the countertops when so many people are in the kitchen at once. Last but not least was the amazing herb garden!! We picked fresh mint for mojitos and also parsley and thyme for our turkey burgers. If you are staying here, you don't have to worry about bringing many basic staples because they have thought of everything! We loved the decks - and had dinner while watching the sunset one night. The deer seemed to come out in the mid afternoon and also in the evening. That was a sight to see (being from Houston)! The grill was fabulous and we all had a great time in the house. Lakeway Marina was very close by, as well as shopping and grocery stores if we needed. We were pleased with everything and had a wonderful stay. Thanks so much Sue!

Relaxing Lakeview Stay!
Relaxing Lakeview Stay!
We only had the opportunity to stay at this beautiful home for a few nights, but when the time came, I didn't want to go home!! The owners enforce over-the-top vacation stay service by providing cooking utensils and pantry staples, and even soap! I've stayed at homes before that didn't have soap, and you don't realize until you're there that you'll want it! My favorite part was just sitting on the deck and listening to all the birds and the wind in the trees. This house has a great view of the lake, and is close enough to "everything" that you can still go out to breakfast or go into downtown Austin for the music scene. The owner was fast and pleasurable to work with as well! I wished we were able to stay longer, and anyone needing a place to visit in Austin will love this home!

Seven sorority sisters from the SIXTIES stayed at the Chateau last weekend and it was just perfect for our group. The house was beautiful and clean. Sue was super nice and very helpful. We appreciated having access to spices, zip lock bags, and other things that are usually not available in other houses where we've stayed. Though we didn't need them, she offered herbs from her herb garden also. We loved the warming oven and having two ovens since we had 21 ladies for dinner. Sue has every utensil or pan you would ever need! We had a great time and would definitely reccommend this house to others!!

About the owner: We are Royce and Sue Holland. Our principal residence is in Dallas, but we love Austin and the hill country and so we are here often. Royce is the Executive Chairman of Masergy Communications.
Why the Owner Chose Lakeway:
We are in Austin quite frequently. We have rented many homes from vrbo and decided to purchase a home for ourselves and rent it when we are not using it.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
We are quite popular with the wedding crowd. With so many great wedding venues in the Lake Travis area we host many a bridal party, and families of the bride and groom. We are outfitted with a large master bathroom for the bridal party to do hair and makeup. There is a steamer and two places to hang and steam your long wedding dress. Many families host a luncheon or brunch on the Sunday after the wedding and we certainly have the facilities for that. So if you are thinking of getting married and need a place to stay, Chateau Lakeview is the perfect place. If you want to preview the place before you decide to rent, we can do that too.
