BEACHSIDE Cottage is your vacation home - not a condo, not on a busy street, and no roads between the cottage and Lake Michigan! Located dead center on Sleeping Bear Bay beach, the cottage looks directly out at the two blue and white Manitou Islands. On the map, it is off of - not on - M-109, between Glen Arbor and Glen Haven in Leelanau County, Michigan. Approximately 35 miles from the Cherry Capital Airport, 5 miles from Camps Leelanau and Kohahna, and minutes from the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore.

4 1/2 hours from the Detroit area, and 6 hours from Chicago. Day Drives include Petoskey, Harbor Springs, and Mackinac Island are to the North. Beulah, Frankfort and Benzonia are to the South. More information on things to do and see in the area is available upon request.

This quaint cottage has two floors, with a 3/4 bath and two bedrooms above, having a full bed in one and a two twins in the other and a Stall shower. There are steep 10 inch stairs, 8 inch is standard. There is a rollaway on the screened-in, furnished front porch. Carpeted office and laundry room can house your port-o-crib for Baby or the porch bed.

Other features include walk half a mile down the wooded highway and treat yourself to an ice cream cone, as you watch the band on the outdoor deck at Boonedocks Restaurant. Rent a canoe for half a day and float down the Crystal River, just minutes from the cottage. Shop till you drop at the many gift shops and galleries in the area.

Climb the magnificent sand dunes at the hill climb, just 3 miles away. Take a sunset drive on the Park's scenic drive overlooking Lake Michigan from on high. Park yourself on the beach and watch the waves roll in. Build a sandcastle. Swim in the clear blue water. Evenings, put jigsaw puzzles together on the porch, or play board with your family at the kitchen table. Rent a movie in Glen Arbor and watch it at the cottage. Build a bonfire after dinner and roast marshmallows for s'mores as the sun sets.

Our renters are repeaters. That says it all.

Charming, Quiet, Beautiful ... Amazing!

Guest: glparker389 (Grass Lake)

My family spent a week at this wonderful cottage, which more than lives up to its billing! Amazing views of Lake Michigan, a great sandy beach for kids and adults, and all the amenities you could wish for. I'd stay here again in a second. My son keeps asking me, "When can we go back?" I've been coming up to the Leelanau Peninsula for more than 20 years, and this was the best trip yet. Highly recommended.

Perfect Lake Michigan Cottage!

Guest: Grams (Ann Arbor, Michigan)
Date of Stay: 08/06/11 Review Submitted: 08/16/11

Beachside cottage is exactly what a Lake Michigan cottage should be! It is very well-appointed (more kitchen gadgets than you'll need), with comfortable, clean, and cheerful furnishings. You can take the boardwalk to the Lake or sit inside or on the screened-in porch and watch the world--and the ships--go by. You will want to stay forever.

Owner response:JoEllen, Thank you for posting your very kind and lovely review. I'll be in touch soon re: the refund. Linda

What a wonderful home and peaceful place you have there. The location was perfect for us. I hope to be able to come back sometime for at least a week and hopefully more. We travel quite a bit and I'd have to say this is the best equipped home we've ever rented.

July 4th on the beach

Guest: Tom (Louisville, KY)
Date of Stay: 07/02/11 Review Submitted: 07/12/11

Had a most enjoyable week at the Beachside Cottage. It is a charming place in a great location, on Lake Michigan and a short bike ride from Glen Arbor. We had wonderful weather all week which allowed us to eat outside at the picnic table and enjoy the firepit almost every night. The binder in the cottage with recommendations of the many things to see and do in the area was most helpful--swimming, kayaking, biking, golf etc. We were a group of 8 which is probably too many for this cottage but it worked out fine due to the great weather. This was our first time in Northern Michigan and we can't wait to come back. Highly recommended!

We had the most wonderful stay. The beach, home and area in general were just everything one could hope for and more. This is truely the most beautiful area of the state. Glen Arbor is delightful as always. We will return every chance we can. Thank you.

Owner response:Thank you Laurel. I am so happy to have you again as an upcoming guest in 2011! My sister's family, who stay next door, especially enjoyed you!

Fall weekend at the Lake

Guest: Peggy (Benton Harbor, MI)
Date of Stay: 09/24/10 Review Submitted: 10/14/10

Despite the cold rainy Sat. (temps in the 50's and wind 20-30 mph) we had a delightful time with our friends. Enjoyed the Dunes and the shops, the maritime museum, and the good food in the restrurants.Loved the fireplace in the cottage, beds comfy, and all in all a very pleasant stay.

Owner response:Peggy, Although I can't guarantee the weather, I'm so glad you found the cottage perfect for your getaway in spite of it! Glen Arbor really is wonderful, and I'm sure you hit the Fall sales at their peak. Wine-tasting tours are fun for an adult group on weekends like yours, as you probably already knew. I'm so glad you enjoyed the cottage. Please come back soon.

Beautiful Spot Right On The Ocean!

Guest: Laura (St. Louis)
Date of Stay: 07/17/10 Review Submitted: 09/13/10

We spent a lovely week at this home with everything we needed. Lake Michigan is right outside your front door. Many nights were spent on the beach roasting smores by the fire. Just beautiful. Lots of well appointed bedrooms with plenty of room for my kids, parents, and sister in law. Short bike ride into town. Cannot recommend highly enough!

Owner response:Although it's the "lake," it's amazing how many people call our view of water "the ocean." Looking out at the blue and white Manitou Islands, 8 and 10 miles out, really adds to that view, i think. And the fact that we're in the middle of the bay, with the dunes on the west arm and Pyramid Point on the east arm, really makes the view spectacular. So glad you had a good time here!
