L'Escaliere, our family home of 45 years, also features a separate apartment occupied by our long time cook and housekeeper. She will provide you with the most wonderful, traditional, Provencal cuisine, from recipes of her mother and grandmother.
The magnificent views from all of the rooms must be seen to be appreciated. They range from the lush valleys to the exquisite sunsets of the Esterel mountains, to a birds eye view of the Mediterranean. As for the evenings, nothing can compare with the hills of the city of Grasse, lit up like twinkling stars in a bright sky.
There are four large bedrooms, each with their own separate bathrooms. Two of the bedrooms are air conditioned. The huge living room, with it's fireplace, is elegantly furnished. The dining room accommodates 8 people comfortably. Adjoining the living room, is a lovely glassed-in sitting room with fireplace, perfect for romantic aperitifs or lazy breakfast, taking in the magnificent views of the surrounding valleys and hills. All meals can also be served on the huge terrace, overlooking the pool and the valley. The kitchen has been completely redone, with much love and care, in the summer of 2006.
The house and grounds are set in the middle of a mature olive grove. Our 70 olive trees provide us with our own extra virgin olive oil.
L'Escaliere is tucked away on a quiet, one way winding path, yet is only a short 10 minute drive to all shopping. St Tropez, Monaco and San Remo in Italy, are just one hour away from l'Escaliere. The hiking in the National Parks and Forest is superb, offering unique views of snowy peaks and the blue Mediterranean Sea. Nightlife on the Riviera is, of course, very vibrant with restaurants, casinos, and live entertainment. The house is a good base for The Cannes Film Festival, as well as the Grand Prix of Monaco. |
