Our family of 5 (kids: 10, 13 &16 yrs) really enjoyed our stay at this very nicely located condo-we would really rate it 4.5 stars; it was as described. The gardens are beautifully maintained, and are home to many gecko friends and song birds. There is a lovely big mango tree. The condo provided all the comforts of home was tastefully decorated. We were able to easily prepare our own meals in the kitchen and with the barbeques in the pool pavilion area. Dealing with the owners was a pleasure; they are very friendly and helpful. The second bedroom is an open loft area with its own bathroom-the kids were thrilled with their own space. The laundry room is a very welcome addition for families. Our only request is a portable rack for drying towels, as no articles are to be hung on the lanai. The lanai has a full size table and everyone enjoys an ocean view while dining, thanks to a cleverly positioned mirror. We found that the breeze and ceiling fans kept the unit a comfortable temperature-we didn't have a need to use the air conditioner. The pool is a good size, with depth ranging from 3-7 feet. No pool toys are allowed, with the exception of flotation devices for non-swimmers. The hot tub is also a decent size. The nearby beach was good for sunset strolls and collecting ocean treasures. Other beautiful beaches for water and sand play are close, including good snorkeling. We suggest getting there early in the morning for decent parking and calmer, clearer water. We appreciated all the beach toys, umbrella, chairs, towels and coolers available in the condo. There are many amenities very close by and a grocery store just a couple minutes walk away. For the budget conscious we suggest Safeway and Costco though. The Kihei Farmers' Market (open weekdays only) is great for fresh local produce. We were very disappointed with the Royal Lahaina Luau after attending the Old Lahaina Luau 14 years ago; the food was awful, and the entertainment and location were mediocre - fold-out tables cramped onto a gravel pad. The extra cost for the Old Lahaina Luau is worth it for a good experience! We highly recommend booking a tour with the Pacific Whale Foundation. They are very professional and provide a junior naturalist program, and the food is great. A family membership of $60 provides a 20% discount on excursions and purchases at their store-lots of wonderful gifts and souvenirs! All profits go to their conservation and education efforts, so everyone benefits. Mahalo!

My husband and I stayed here in March with our 4 year old and 15 month old. For a family, we were really pleased with the amenities for children. The play yard, high chair and baby gate were much appreciated, and the pool/beach toys were awesome and well-used. There were many sizes of coolers, great beach chairs, an umbrella, snorkels, masks, fins....truly, it is well-stocked! The nearby beach, while great for strolling along, was not very appealing for us, particularly with kids. The water (in March, anyway) was murky and the bottom was rocky. It wasn't a big deal to us, because there are LOADS of amazing beaches just a few minutes drive away (some favorites of ours: Keawakapu, Makena & Walea). The grocery store next to the condo unit was ideal. Also within walking distance is Coconuts where I had amazing fish tacos - you must check it out! A word about air conditioning. The main living area has a AC unit, but it does not cool down the bedrooms. For me, it was fine, as I tolerate heat well, but my husband found it warm at night (although he was still able to sleep well enough). Yes, the breeze is nice the evening and there are ceiling fans, but if you are a person who does not tolerate heat well, you may have trouble sleeping. Also, the second bedroom upstairs is actually a loft, so noise is a factor if everyone does not have the same sleeping schedule. The other bedroom has a door and is tucked away from the living room, however. The lanai is a nice place to enjoy a meal or a drink. It faces a parking lot and quiet street, and there is a partial view of the ocean. The condo common area is lovely, and the pool/hot tub area was nice. Overall, the place was in good shape and the owner was organized, prompt with email correspondence, and helpful. One other tip if you have young kids. Go to Kalama beach park in the evening. We picked up Greek take-out at Pita Paradise, walked across the street to the park and ate while we watched sunset. Then we let the kids play in the awesome (lit) playground right there. Lovely evening!

The condo is in a quaint little neighborhood that is close to the beach and many shopping areas. We really enjoyed the place. It was clean and comfortable. We had our four children with us (age 7 mo to 9 yrs), and the condo worked great for our family. My kids loved to play in the pool and we used the gas grill by the pool a couple of nights for dinner. The condo had lots of beach ammenities which made it nice for the beach. The kids loved the body boards and my 3 yr. old loved all of the beach toys. For the price paid, I think this place is a great value!

The condo is in good shape and well maintained. Close to the beach (less than 1 block) and with an ocean view from the lanai. Well equipped, specially for families with young children. There is a safety gate you can use in the stairs, a high chair and a playpen; I would definitely recommend it for families with infants / toddlers. The owner also provides with beach gear like chairs, mats, umbrellas and even beach toys for the kids! The condo also has a pool and BBQ area, also well maintained (water was crystal clear, all amenities were clean). Direct access to Wailea & Makena beaches, 10 to 20 minutes drive through S. Kihei Road. Big grocery store 2 minutes walking distance. Very convenient. The best of it all was the owner, both over the phone and by email. Provided all sorts of information and tips, really fast to answer emails. Outstanding service. In short, an excellent place to spend your time in Kihei, highly recommended for young families.

We stayed four nights and wished we had booked longer. The beach and grocery store were very close as well as shops and restaurants. Their condo was very clean and felt like a home rather than a rental. We have already recommended this property to many family and friends.

My family of four stayed in Melanie's condo in June 2011. We found it to be tidy, well-organized, and pleasant. The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed for cooking, and the washer/dryer were very convenient. There were clean beach towels and accessories for us to use (my kids especially enjoyed the boogie boards). The closest beach was a minute walk away, and was a pleasant place for a walk along the shore, but not so much for swimming. However, there were plenty of other beaches with great surf just a 15 minute drive away along South Kehei road. The complex was quiet and friendly with a clean pool and hot tub area. In addition, there are many resturaunts close by; we particularly enjoyed Cafe O'Lie for seafood. Melanie was very accessible and helpful in providing information about her condo. We've stayed at hotels on Maui before, but we prefer the condo for space, value, convenience, and location and will recommend it to our friends. Thank you, Melanie!

We call ourselves the Maui Girls. There are six of us who went to Maui together, stayed at Kihei Garden Estates, and had so much fun. We really appreciate the cleanliness and amenities of this condo and it is just right for a group of friends. We stayed there two years ago, too, and enjoyed it so much we wanted to go back and stay there again. I would definitely recommend it to others - the location is just right whether you want to relax on the beach or go on various adventures each day. We look forward to another trip there in the future.

We just got home from our first trip to beautiful Hawaii. The condo was so clean & organized. It had everything anyone could ever need. We liked the location. Walked to the beach to watch the sunsets! Grocery was really close. We enjoyed the pool/hot tub area with the bbq, we cooked there one night. It was nice to have the laundry right in the unit also. Melanie is so helpful. She told us about some great snorkeling areas. We made the right choice for our Maui stay. Would highly recommend.

The place was great. It accommodated two families travelling together very well. It was well maintained and equipped. The baby gate was a life saver or we would have been chasing more than relaxing. The location was ideal, close to everything. The washer/dryer was a life saver for us. The owner was great to deal with, always had quick responses.

Entire process was smooth. Appreciated quick, reliable, accountable and friendly communication with owner especially after a horrible experience with another owner I found on VRBO. Emails were responded to in 24 hours. Appreciated follow up from owner. Accurate description and photos in ad. Immaculate accommodations...so clean and organized! Ideal location. Free no-hassle parking on property. Fully equipped condo so I didn't feel like I was in a hotel (yuck). Have already referred family and friends to this property. Will always want to stay here when I'm on Maui.

My family of 6 loved our stay in Melanie's condo!! This condo is very clean, well organized, and really has everything you need. Quiet complex across a residential street from the beach, which was great for walking, flying kites, and throwing rocks! (I've got 2 young boys...). Not a swimming beach because of the seaweed, though I did see some people swimming. The kitchen is very well stocked (plenty of dishes; blender!! we like smoothies; toaster; etc.), as are the bathrooms (towels!! lots). And the storage closet is VERY well-stocked with everything you need for the beach (coolers, beach chairs, umbrellas, beach toys...). There was also a pack n play and booster seat for the table that worked well for our baby. There are a few guide books and maps, as well as games my kids enjoyed. The laundry room was key for us! I guess not all the condos at this resort have one, but this one does, and it was great. This condo is immaculate. The grounds were very clean as well. We swam in the pool several times and sometimes we were the only ones there! My kids liked that. BBQ area was clean, too, and right next to the pool. Melanie was wonderful to work with. She gives a very detailed description of the condo in an e-mail after you contact her, and is very thorough and pleasant. Again, we really enjoyed our stay at this condo, and would definitely return and recommend it. My 3 year old keeps talking about how he wants to go back to "our new condo!" Don't I wish! Thank you, Melanie and family, for sharing your condo with us!

Owner response: Mahalo! We are pleased to hear that you enjoyed our Island Ohana! Depending on the tide, algae will come ashore along this shore line, from Central Kihei, which is where we are located, to the North Kihei shore line area. We are also just under two miles to Kama'ole 1, 11 and 111 Beaches, so it is just a matter of a few minutes to get to the most popular Kihei beaches, and yet you are able to maintain being in a quiet area and not by the condos that are side by side. We encourage all to explore the many beautiful beaches that Maui has to offer! Aloha!

We were attending a family wedding on Maui and wanted a place that was centrally located. We found the accommodations to be exactly as stated, easy to find and the location to be very convenient to everything. Having the beach right there was fantastic for walking and watching sunsets. The store was very close by, and since we stayed for 2 weeks, that made grocery shopping easy. We also made good use of the pool and jacuzzi in the complex. Lovely condo, would recommend it to anyone.

The condo turned out to be the best one of all that were rented for the wedding weekend in Maui. All the avalible services were used except for the pool. I just didn't have time to get there. The condo was neat, clean, and comfy. Everything that was told to me online and in the emails were exactly like they said. This is a perfect place for a stay in Maui. Close to the beach. Food stores within walking distance and shopping. I have no problem staying there again and will when I go back. Thanks.... Rich

Our family stayed in this unit for 10 days in March 2008. We found the unit exactly as described online. It was clean, comfortable, spacious and very nicely decorated. We loved the closet full of beach items (chairs, umbrellas, boogie boards, cooler, beach towels and sand toys for the kids). You can see the beautiful ocean from the lanai, we even saw whales. The complex is quiet and very well maintained and features palm trees, flowers and a variety of happily singing birds. Our only disappointment was the beach. Although close, it is not really a swim beach. But you are on a fantastic island with amazing beaches nearby so we won't complain too much. We did walk along the beach at night and you have a great place to watch the sun set. We actually did some research and spent our beach days at some of the smaller and lesser known beaches. Sometimes there were only 10-20 other people on the whole beach. The location was more than convenient. There is a Star Market just steps away and a very nice Safeway a couple of blocks down the road. We ate at Da Kitchen on S. Kihei Rd and had a fantastic authentic Hawaiian lunch plate. Great pork and teriyaki chicken. Yum. We also tried Fred's Mexican restaurant and found it to be very tasty. Whale watching with the Pacific Whale Foundation was amazing. If you are in Maui during whale season we highly recommend them. Very knowledgeable crew and not expensive. We saw many, many whales. On our last day we enjoyed the Haleakala Zip Line. Again the crew were fun, energetic people, making a very exciting day even better. If you are thinking about visiting Hawaii, Maui is a slam dunk. We visited the Big Island and Ohua during this trip and found that for our wants Maui was superior. With many great memories we would like to thank Melanie and Dale, the owners. They answered all of our questions in a friendly and timely manner. Their customer service was five-star! There are many place you can stay on Maui but with our budget and for the activities we knew we wanted to do this condo was just what we were looking for. They have done a great job making this unit feel like a home away from home. Mahalo!!

Owner response: We are pleased you enjoyed your first visit to Maui and mahalo for your kind review. Waiohuli Beach is in a nice quiet area with great sand to walk on and is just minutes away from our door which does make it very convenient for those great walks along the ocean! Although you will see some swimmers here, Kama'ole Beaches 1, 11 and 111 are located just down the road. We encourage guests to explore all the beautiful and different beaches Maui has to offer! Aloha!
