Hayesville house description
The covered porch with its rocking chairs and big cedar swing is just 25 feet from the crystal clear, rushing water of this certified trout stream. There's a deep swimming hole right out front and miles of trout-filled waters for even the most avid fly fisherman to enjoy! There are big tubes to 'tube the Tusquittee Creek,' a creekside fire pit under the lush green trees, lots of Hummingbirds and flowers, apple trees, and wonderful mountain views all around you! High speed satellite internet in home.
Have supper on the big glass patio table at creekside, then curl up in front of the fireplace and watch the sun go down through the big French doors in the greatroom with its hardwood floors and vaulted ceilings. Let the creek lull you to sleep in the big master bedroom with Queen bed and full bath while the kids settle in to the two twin beds in bedroom #2 with a second full bath. Got extra company with you? There's a big sofa sleeper in the great room. The kitchen and breakfast bar are sunny and roomy and there is a second covered porch with a gas grill just outside the kitchen door.
Visit the quaint courthouse square Farmers Market for fresh mountain grown produce. The square is also site a of many festivals and craft shows. There is a community theatre, rodeo, an old fashioned 'pickin' with mountain music at the nearby music parlor on Saturday night. Lots of great restaurants and shops. Visit the Ocoee Olympic rafting site for an afternoon of whitewater adventures!
Take a cruise on Lake Chatuge with it's 133 miles of shoreline or rent a jet-ski or pontoon for an afternoon on the lake, hike the Appalachian Trail. Visit John C. Campbell Folk School with mountain craft classes for kids and adults and mountain concerts and festivals, visit the Georgia Mountain Fair and music show in nearby Hiawassee, Georgia, ride the Smoky Mountain Railroad (with dinner theatre on board) or Blue Ridge Mountain railroad scenic tours for the most spectacular mountain views ever. Visit the Cherokee Indian Reservation for outdoor dramas, crafts, and a Harrah's Casino.
You may plan a short vacation but you'll never want to leave!

Comfortable Relaxing Cottage by the stream
Comfortable Relaxing Cottage by the stream
This was a great little place to unwind, relax, read, meditate, fish, use as a home base for sightseeing and other activities. The cottage is stocked with everything you might need. It is clean, cozy but comfortable, furnished nicely, and has enough privacy for relaxing but it is not isolated or in any way creepy. It has a nice large yard and plenty of space for a walk. The very large front porch is inviting and has good outdoor furniture and comfortable rocking chairs.. The sound from the water is fantastic and we saw tons of small trout and a few very large ones. The home is convenient to town but far enough away to be very quiet. The neighborhood is very comfortable and safe. Adorable, friendly little dog came for his daily visit. Too cute! The weather was fantastic too! Leaves and valley landscape were beautiful. The owners are very friendly, accommodating, and informative. For the money or more, this is the place!

Relaxing stay in a lovely house
Relaxing stay in a lovely house
We had the pleasure of a very relaxing week in this lovely house "on the creek." The home is exactly as pictured, and is very clean and comfortable. The backyard is lovely, and the porch provides a great place to just sit and listen to the rushing water, read a book, or take a nap. Hayesville offers a five star restaurant (The Copper Door), which is wonderful, just five minutes from the house, and we also found a great little Mexican place, the Anejo Grille, right in Hayesville. We ate there twice (!), but there was also everything we needed to cook right there at the house. We visited a couple of wineries within a 30 minute drive: the Calaboose Winery in nearby Andrews, and Cherokee Cellars in Murphy. Lovely folks and excellent wines (and craft beer at Calaboose) at both. We also ate at Michaelee's Chocolate Caffee in Hiawassee (unique and amazing); rode the Jackrabbit bike trail just a few minutes away; and rafted on the Nantahala w/ Paddle Inn Rafting company (about an hour's drive from the cabin). Our dog LOVED playing and swimming in the creek, and the two sweet dogs next door visited us daily and made fast friends with him and us. We only tubed once, because the weather was unseasonable cool and the water is pretty cold (which was great!). Didn't catch any fish this time, but my husband had fun trying. We didn't have cell service at the house (AT&T), but picked up once in Hayesville. There is a landline at the house for emergencies, so you are not completely w/out phone service. There was satellite tv and internet, which our teens appreciated. I, personally, was thankful for the break from the phone and the outside world! My only suggestion would be to add a hammock for the back porch or to hang between the backyard trees. Otherwise, everything was truly great and for such a reasonable price! Thanks so very much for sharing your home with us!

Our favorite getway!
Our favorite getway!
My husband & I have been coming to this wonderful cottage on the creek every time we can get away for several years now. The cabin is perfect- almost new, spotlessly clean, has plenty of room and the owners have thought of everything. The location is quiet and easily accessible. The fishing is great, so, while I enjoy the sun rise over the mountains behind the creek, my Husband grabs his waders and fishing rod and spends most of his daylight hours every day trout fishing or we'll relax on the porch with the dogs and enjoy the views, visit the saturday Farmers Market or some of the intriguing little shops I've found in town. We always make a stop at The Corner Butcher Shop on the town square for the worlds freshest cut steaks and spend one lazy evening grilling on the porch, listening to the crickets and the creek rolls by.The cabin is well equipped to "cook at home" and there is a great little fire pit right at the creek to roast marshmallows for S-mores before bedtime . Many morning we'll visit The Cottage Deli for their all you can eat breakfast buffet, then head back to our cozy little getaway which now almost feels like our own little "home away from home"! There's plenty of great restaurants in town and we love them all. The owners are friendly and keep us posted about fun special events in the area to visit during our stays so we've been able to visit rodeos, fairs and festivals! They even invited us to visit their farm on one of our visits and we really enjoyed meeting them and seeing their miniature Horses, pygmy goats, and baby lambs! It's so nice to be able to bring our two small dogs along with us and let them enjoy the creek right out front of the house, and to take them on our excursions around the wonderful hiking and walking paths at Lake Chatuge and the several of the county parks and Rec areas in and around Hayesville! We brought our In-Laws with us on one of our weekend getaways, and they loved it! The bedrooms at the cabin offer plenty of privacy and space for two couples and they often hint to us how they'd love to sneak away to the mountains with us again soon!

Charming, comfortable, peaceful, fun. Our week stay in August, 2005 with our 4 year old grandson in this lovely home was a blessing. Every need was anticipated by the furnishings and amenities. Hard to believe it is a rental home; it is so well cared for, and so lovely. We read on the porch, roasted hot dogs and toasted marshmallows on the fire we built in the fire pit, played and floated and fished in the creek, and enjoyed having time for each other. Didn't feel the need to go else where for ejoyment, but so glad we did. The fresh picked corn, and blueberries were most delicious!
