Our wedding party moved here to celebrate a Family Moon. 2 sets of in laws, one set of newlyweds, siblings and friends for a party of 12. It was wonderful. Plenty of room for everyone. Scott was very helpful and Kristina created a wonderful Fijian dinner for us. The area was beautiful, we snorkeled, hiked to a waterfall, took a day long boat trip to another island. The ability to use the surroundings resorts is a real bonus for the days that you just want to lounge by the pool. We couldn't have dreamed of a better spot.Did you find this review helpful? This was our first family holiday overseas and we preferred to stay in a large spacious house away from the resorts. We have 3 boys - 13, 10 and 6 years respectively and they absolutely loved it. We hired a 4WD from the airport which we needed for the driveaway and when we drove off the beaten track. I would recommend checking the size first as we ended up with a 3 door Suzuki Jimmy which was a little cramped with our luggage. Scott and Cristina were such lovely hosts and really made our stay very memorable. We had the fijian feast for our son's birthday which was absolutely delicious and Cristina bought an Indian sweet as an extra for him to try - yummy. Driving in Fiji was very easy and safe and it was great to be able to run to the rhythm of our own schedule. Having 24 hour security on the property was very comforting if we needed anything. There are so many things to do: island day trips, river safari which includes a kava ceremony and embracing the local culture, snorkelling in our own private bay, visits to the local waterfall, kula eco sanctuary, Natadola beach, drinking from the freshly cut coconuts on the property by Imosi the list goes on and our 1 regret whilst staying in Fiji was we didn't book long enough. The combination of eating in for breakfast and most lunches and then going out for dinners really worked for our family. Food shopping in Sigatoka was an interesting experience. The house was very spacious and the beds very comfortable and the views spectacular!! The photos my husband took with his new camera were just amazing. We are already planning our holiday for next time..........Recommended for: Families with teenagers, adventure seekers, sightseeing, families with young children.

My friends and I stayed at Heavensdoor in September 2012 it was a bit windy in Fiji for our stay which was unfortunate, but having such a wonderful, beautiful, peaceful base to come back to, the wind did not matter. Scott was so interesting to talk to, he has such an intimate knowledge of the beautiful island and its people I could have asked a million questions, his wife, Cristina, cooked us a sensational Fijian dinner which all of us could not get enough of. The house is very secluded with a million dollar view and everyone one of the 5 bedrooms are just lovely, we spent the majority of our time on the front patio, the most wonderful spot to overlook beautiful bays and palm trees and sip wine. I would recommend staying at Heavensdoor to anybody, it is the only way to spend time in Fiji, thank you so much Scott and Cristina we will be back!!!Recommended for: Tourists without a car, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, girls getaway, sightseeing, people with disabilities, families with young children.

What a beautiful home! The house was perfect for the three generations of our family who stayed there, with room(s) to spare. The view is absolutely breathtaking, and starting each day taking it all in with a cup of coffee on the deck could not have been sweeter. Scott and Cristina were hospitable beyond the call of duty (and trust me, we tested them - not intentionally, mind you, but...) - visiting the horses with our kids, preparing a delicious Fijian feast, getting our van unstuck, answering 1,001 questions, etc. Needless to say, our whole family came away with fond memories and can't wait to return.Did you find this review helpful? I've personally traveled most of the world. Fiji has always been a bucket list item as probably is for most of us so finally making the trip from New York City I was filled with excitement along with the wonder if this place is cracked up to all I had hoped for. When we arrived in Nadi, the first thing I noticed were the people and there kindness toward you. The drive was short, about an hour to Heavens Door. When I arrived the place was more than I had hoped for. The neighbors immediately greeted us with kindness and were more than willing to help every step of the trip. The house was in great shape and very clean. The yard/landscape was breathtaking and the views from every room in the house truly amazing. Island living was the true feeling the entire time and the house really helped create that feeling even more apparent. The coral coast is breathtaking overall. The only place I recommend not going to is Suva. Its busy and reminds me of being back in the city with people pushing you to buy trinkets, etc. The drive there is also long. If you do make it that far out the drive is very nice a views are great. There is some ZIP Lining just before Suva if thats your thing. We ending up doing it but it can be pricey unless you bargain a little like we did. The waterfall was a great experience, its right before the Warwick (dirt road 1000 feet on right before the hotel). The ride down the dirt road is about 3 miles. When you cross the small wooden bridge pull in on the left and the house in the back is where you want to begin. You defiantly want a guide for this as its a 30 minute hike through the rain forest. ASK FOR SUKA when you get there. We were fortunate enough to have him come back to the house and cook us some authentic food after the hike along with the fact he has contacts all throughout the villages and we ended up with 4 spiny lobsters that were just caught for $25 FIJI (and they were about 2 pounds each). Between that and the fact that on our way back from the hike we all picked edible leaves and veggies from the forest and cooked them back at the house really started making this trip more whole. The beach is about a 10 minute walk down hill. Its about a 15-20 minute walk up hill too (lol) and you will need to keep some enegry drinks on you cause its steep and long, but the excerise is great. Driving up the hill can be somewhat of a challenge and makes you feel like your in the outback.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children.

Their saying "Million Dollar View" is right on. 180 degrees of ocean, you are literally perched on top of the world. We stayed with a total of 3 couples for a week and the house is a great base camp for exploring the island. It is 15min to Sigatoka, 1.5hrs to Nadi, 5min to the Outrigger and the same to the Sunset Strip where you'll find a few good restaurants and a pretty little beach. Pros: - Good value, amazing view, beautiful grounds, friendly hosts, "coconut gathering", friendly onsite dog "Sydney", great outdoor patio, cool wood burning BBQ, spacious bedrooms Things to just take into consideration: - The driveway...long, steep, rough and 4WD an absolute. It doesn't say 4WD is needed on VRBO but it does on their blog. Keep this in mind for sure. It was pretty hairy, but we became expert Fijian drivers by the end of the trip. - The downstairs living room, is really more of a small lounge. The upstairs had a larger room where the TV was, but felt like it was more of a private area for the upstairs bedrooms. - It could be a description thing, but when I read 5 bedrooms, I assumed 5 separate and private bedrooms and had we been traveling with 5 couples it would have been a problem. The two downstairs bedrooms are separate and private (one is a little dark and smaller and the other is much more spacious with bunks, a crib and is an ensuite). And then there is a master upstairs which is very lovely with a huge dressing area and private ensuite bath. The other 2 upstairs bedrooms is where there was an issue. The description says "Double Room with 2 queen beds separated by a shared bath", which to me means 2 separate bedrooms with a bath that both can access. But in reality it is two bedrooms that are open to each other with a bath in the middle. There is no way to privatize them, so it can't be used for couples, only kids. - The house leaked. Granted it was almost a cyclone storm that went through, but a house still shouldn't leak like that, but the owners cleaned everything up very quickly. - Shampoo is not provided, bring your own. - If you love your coffee in the morning, bring it from home as you can only get instant in the markets. IMO, this home is best for a family rather than couples. To make it more couple friendly, l'd suggest that all the bedrooms be more equal in style/decor to the master (pillows, art, lighting). Since we shared the cost, it wasn't fair that 1 couple got a far nicer room than the others. But all in all we had a great time!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, adventure seekers, sightseeing.

Heavensdoor Fiji is undoubtedly the best holiday rental we've ever stayed at (and we've stayed at a lot!). We're a family of 4 with 2 little ones aged 3 and 1. We stayed for 10 days. Firstly, the house is just fantastic - even better than the photos show. The gardens and grounds are just a joy and we eventually stopped trying to take photos because nothing could capture the true beauty of the place once you're there. Something to note, as others have said, is that the driveway is steep and a bit rough, but as long as you hire a decent car it's just fine. We had an all wheel drive station wagon and took it very slowly and had no trouble at all. The interior of the house is beautiful as well - so many lovely touches by the owners like fresh flowers, bowls of shells and local handicrafts (apologies to Scott and Christina that we moved some of them to keep them out of reach of our 1 year old!). The beds are very comfy and the linens and towels are all lovely. The kitchen is pretty well equiped - we certainly didn't want for anything and we usually had breakfast and cooked dinner there. Everything was clean and well maintained, and the staff came and swept the patio and took the rubbish every 2 days (including nappies - extra thanks for that!) The owners are just fantastic. Having them on site was brilliant - they were there for anything we needed and they set you up with a mobile phone so you can call them any time. Honestly, (and I don't mean to gush!) they are 2 of the nicest, most friendly and genuine people you'll ever meet and they helped make Heavensdoor the amazing experience that it was. There lots of things to do in the area and since you really need a car if you're doing the holiday rental thing, you're able to get around see a bit of beautiful Fiji. We drove into Sigatoka most days for coffee (at Cuppa Bula - great coffee!), and food shopping at MH (the biggest supermarket in town with all the basics) and the fruit and vegie markets. We also used the Outrigger resort for the pool, ate at Le Cafe, Beachside Cafe, and Koko's - all good food, especially the curry at Beachside right next to the Outrigger. We also visited Vatukarasa villiage - an amazing experience and definately recommended - see the staff at Baravi Handicrafts who can organise it for you. Heavensdoor Fiji is just one of those places - you leave knowing that you'll remember it forever, and that you want to tell everyone about it and go back again and again!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children.

We are very lucky to have found Heavensdoor. Since we return to Fiji often we can look forward to the beautiful views from what might be described as a private island in the sky. Scott and Cristina made us feel very welcome and the house has everything you could need for a great self-catering holiday. The standard of cleanliness was very impressive and the style and décor of the house makes you want to spend time there. We definitely recommend this house for either a large group or a romantic getaway as it was for us. Vinaka, Dave and ReneeDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 6/6
