Adorable Cozy Downtown Durango Home - 15 Min Walk to Downtown
Year Purchased: 2001
Why the Owner Chose Private Homes, Downtown
Durango has always been one of my favorite Colorado towns. The people are friendly and very proud of their little town.
The Unique Benefits at this House
I love to sit at my front porch watching children passing by, sometimes deer, while I sip on my coffee. I enjoy walking to downtown and meeting up with friends at any of the numerous wonderful restaurants, shop at any of those cute shops, or just plain listen to folks tell me how cute my dog is when I take her for her walks :)
Love the near by hiking trails.

I just adore this cozy Durango home. It is comfortable, great location, and I feel very fortunate and blessed to own such a home. I love it when renters tell me it feels more like they are guests.
I hope you enjoy my home and for a short time, make it your home.

I stayed here in August with extended family to attend a mountaintop wedding. We stayed for three days in this lovely and comfortable home. It's the owner's home, and consequently has anything you might think you'd need (corkscrew, hair dryers, sugar, you name it!) We needed to count on the air conditioning, and were not disappointed. There were eight of us, and we visited easily in several different locations in the house: the kitchen table, the dining table, the living room, and the charming sunroom. Also available is an anteroom of sorts off the master bedroom upstairs. The location of the house is excellent, on the north side of town, poised for a quick drive into the mountains, but close to downtown as well. Magaly, the owner, was helpful and generous with her time and belongings, and we had a super visit. The restaurant behind the house (I think it's called "Brick House") was fantastic, and I wish we'd been able to eat there several times. It's only open for breakfast and lunch, so don't wait!

Our family of four spent 6 weeks in this Durango home this autumn and we had a wonderful stay. It is a well kept and very clean older home in a neat neighborhood just north of downtown. We used it as a home base to explore the countless nearby hiking and biking trails, Mesa Verde, Pagosa Springs, Durango Mtn Resort, Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta, The San Juans, and Durango itself. The kitchen is very well stocked with everything, and we made most of our meals at home during our stay. The kids played safely in the fenced in back yard. We stored all of our bikes in the big garage. New washer and dryer. Cable, WiFi internet. Location: Many days we never had to get in our car because from this location you can walk or bike to a number of cool spots. 6 blocks west is Overend Mtn Park for hiking and mtn biking; Animas Mtn trailhead is one mile north, Animas River Trail 4 blocks; Public Library 3 blocks; Rec. Center (gym/pool) 0.9 miles north; Historic Downtown 9 blocks south; Free Trolley to downtown stops one block away. Saturday morning Farmer's Market 10 blocks south; Durango is one of the most bike friendly towns I've seen. The owner was very helpful straightforward and sent us a list of restaurants and activities and festivals she recommends. There is a private basement apartment with a separate yard and entrance and the gentleman who lives there was very helpful with local information and recommendations , but we did not see very much of him. Before settling on this home we debated whether to rent a more remote mountain retreat or a home in town. We have 2 young kids and it turned out we really loved living right in town with easy access to everything as I mentioned above. This is not a palatial retreat with killer views, it's a clean and nice 3-bed/2-bath fully stocked home in a cool older neighborhood that is near the killer views. We would recommend this home and we had a splendid 6 weeks exploring Durango and the region.
Owner response:Thank you Peter, I am glad you enjoyed your stay. Durango is indeed every bit as wonderful as you have described, I feel very lucky. You were fantastic tenants and left my home so perfect I didn't have to get it cleaned, a first. :) Hope you come back soon. Best to you family, Magaly

I have stayed at this house a few times, and it it AMAZING!! It has a very cozy old charm that makes you feel like you're at home. In the winter, the skiing is fantastic, and the cozy front porch is perfect for sitting and drinking your hot chocolate after a long cold day on the mountain. In the summer, you can walk across the pedestrian hanging river bridge into town and stroll down Main Street looking at all the cute shops, not to mention the best restaurants anywhere. I highly recommend this home for any type of vacation.
