Welcome to the Bluewater Star, our half-million dollar beachfront home, located in the sleepy village of Surfside Beach on the Texas Gulf Coast.
Our home, only 3 years old, sits among the dunes on a large private lot and is an idyllic place for a relaxing retreat only steps away from the beach.
Decks surround three sides of the house and each room opens up to a deck, giving everyone lots of elbow room to enjoy the Gulf Coast breezes and enjoy the unobstructed view of the ocean.
Of the 4 bedrooms total, two are masters, each furnished with a king-size bed, tv/dvd, and private bathroom. The downstairs master has a large bathroom with a jacuzzi tub and separate shower. Both bedrooms open out to decks facing the ocean; the upstairs one is great for star gazing.
The third bedroom has two queen beds and the fourth bedroom has two bunk beds for the kids - both bedrooms share a bathroom and both bedrooms open to a shared covered deck.
One final child's bedroom, located in an alcove under the stairs, is fitted with a toddler bed. Our home is also stocked with an additional toddler bed, two cribs and three hi-chairs for the comfort of our littlest renters.
The beautiful and functional kitchen was designed and equipped to be appreciated by people who love to cook. Recessed lighting, granite counter tops, pendant lighting, stainless appliances, and restaurant quality cook-ware, bar ware and utensils are all top of the line. The owner of the house is a restaurant manager who loves to cook in his spare time and he knows how to stock a kitchen with all the essentials and then some.
The kitchen and wet bar overlook the great room and was made for entertaining. One of the best features is the wall of windows giving you an unobstructed view of the ocean from anywhere in the kitchen or living room. We also have a huge flat screen tv over the fireplace, complete with satellite cable and dvd, and stereo system with surround sound. Additional speakers have been placed outside so you can listen to music from the deck.
Right across the street is a pier for crabbing, and fishing is everywhere. You can fish in the surf, in the bay, off a pier or deep sea with a charter boat. If you don't feel like cooking, there are plenty of great restaurants nearby and a seafood market of the local catch. Galveston, with its historic homes and local entertainment, is an easy and scenic 1/2-hour drive up the coast.
For bird lovers, you only have to step outside onto one of the decks to watch the antics of the pelicans and seagulls and we are also close to several bird sanctuaries where lots of species over-winter.

Weekly rentals are 7 nights and are available year round. Prices on this site are strictly for family rental. Call for rates for special events. 15% premium charge for holidays and are only available for a full week rental.
Weekends are only available in off-season and are from Thursday 4 pm to Sunday 11 am (3 nights)or Friday to Monday. Check in and checkout times are sometimes flexible, depending on whether place is rented before and after you. During peak season, weekend rentals will only be available as last minute bookings.
A $350 deposit is required to reserve your dates. This is cashed upon receiving but will be refunded to you within two weeks of your stay, less any damages.
Well-behaved dogs are accepted, conditionally, with prior approval and payment of $125 non-refundable fee, two pets max. No puppies please.

Why the Owner Chose Surfside Beach
When I was a child, my parents would rent a beach house in Surfside for one fun-filled fantastic week each summer. Family from out of town would come in to join us and we'd spend our days fishing, crabbing, swimming and eating wonderful things. It instilled a life-long dream to one day have a place of my own for my own children.
The Unique Benefits at this Beachfront House
Going to Surfside is like stepping back in time. There are restaurants that take checks but not credit cards and convenience stores that close down in the off season. When we go down to the house, we invite all our loved ones to join us. Our caravan of cars pull into the driveway and everyone scatters in different directions - little ones with their mamas scoot off to the beach with shovels and pails, the older kids go crabbing or swimming, and dads go fishing while the ones who just want to relax head off to the deck with a book for a little peace and quiet. Hours later everyone congregates, sunburnt and starving, around the dinner table to tackle platters of fresh fried fish, steamed Gulf Coast crabs and chilled shrimp. Nights are spent on the deck, listening to the surf and watching the night sky for shooting stars while fire flies blink in the dunes. At some point before bed, we'll rouse ourselves and head down to the beach, lanterns in hand, to build a bonfire in the dark. The kids love to toast marshmallows for sandy smores and once they've had their fill, we all head back to the house exhausted and happy and ready to do it all over again the next day.

In 2006 my husband and I completed construction on our dream home, a beach house to be used as a weekend getaway. Before we'd had a chance to use it, we discovered that our beautiful baby boy, who was by then almost two, was autistic. Our savings and extra income intended for the beach house mortgage, vaporized as we began intensive therapies that Bobby desperately needed. We had decided to put the house up for sale when I stumbled across the vrbo website and an idea was born. What if we could open up our home to other families who enjoy the beach as much as we do. So, overnight my husband and I became managers of our beachhome-turned-resort rental property. And boy what a fantastic ride these last three years have been. It's been an absolute blast getting to know so many wonderful people and to help them create their own family memories.
Bobby, now almost 5, is doing great. He has started talking (after 3 years of hard hard work and many hours of therapy)and his favorite place on this earth is our beach house. We give a heartfelt thanks to all the families who have stayed at our home, and extend a warm Texas hello to all the families we have yet to meet.
