We truly enjoyed our stay at the lake, the property was more than we anticipated, the view is great, we took our boat out and caught some perch...walked along the shore and found beach glass..the rental was fully stocked with everything we needed and the owner chuck is great...we will definetly come back again..bon fire in the beach at night was a lot of fun...such a short drive from pittsburgh..it was a perfect vacation..

Recommended for:Adventure seekers, age 55+, sightseeing.

The best place to stay in Northeast!!!

My husband and friends have been coming here for the past 4 years. Charles is just wonderful and so is the apartment. Everything is clean and fresh upon arrival. The beach is lovely and perfect for strolling. The local wineries are fantastic and we always stop at The Freeport Restaurant for breakfast. Overall, this is a great place and we will certainly be back!

Great Lake Erie Spot!

In mid September my family stayed at three of the units to celebrate my youngest son's 21st birthday with his older brothers and their girlfriends. We had a wonderful time just relaxing around the bonfire at the beach at night and spending time together. During the day we rode bikes to a nearby winery, rode our kayak and shared meals on the decks overlooking the lake. The units were well equipped and comfortable and the owners were very helpful and hospitable. We would love to make this trip a family tradition and it is such an easy ride from Pittburgh with a lot of nearby attractions. Everything was very clean and well maintained with plenty of dishes, glasses and cooking utensils to make our stay convenient.

Recommended for:Age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway.

Perfect Family Vacation

After much research on fun family vacations with small children I finally landed on this place, and I`m so glad I did!! With a 5month old and a 3 year old this location was perfect!!! Quiet for nap times and lots of running space for our son. Its located back a dirt road so we really didnt have to worry about traffic. The beach is just a few steps away and my son enjoyed playing in the freezing cold stream more than the warm water of Erie! We spent endless hours combing the shore for beach glass, and took home quite a haul! The owner was so helpful and was ready with fresh towels at a moments notice. It was wonderful having a fully equipped kitchen and a grill so we could grocery shop and prepare our own meals. I must say this was one of our favorite family vacations and we can`t wait to go back!!

Fabulous Family Reunion

My husband, two of his children and 5 of our grandchildren ranging in age from 6 to 14 just spent a wonderful week at this property. We rented all 3 apartments and it was everything we had hoped it would be and more! Every family had a degree of privacy, but we were able to easily gather together for meals, etc. All the apartments were immaculate, the location was perfect and you couldn't ask for a better landlord than Charles McClelland! Our grandchildren loved the bonfire on the beach and Presque Isle State Park. We all agreed the highlight of the trip was renting a powerboat and tubing on Lake Erie. We were never at a loss for things to do. We so enjoyed the peace and quiet of the Woodmere Beach Association and the friendliness of all we encountered there coupled with the access to Presque Isle, the Erie Seawolves, the Erie Zoo, Waldameer Water Park and numerous wineries within a short drive. Having access to 3 grills and easy access to grocery shopping allowed us to gather for fun meals every evening. While we hated to leave, but we took with us memories that will last a lifetime and have already had discussions about returning to create new memories.

Our family of 4 stayed 6 nights here and loved it! We were visiting family and it had so much more to offer than a hotel. We had a bonfire on the beach two of the nights as we watched the most beautiful sunsets. The beach is directly across the street from the apartments. The owner was very accomodating and even came down and built our bonfire for us the first night (as a favor of course!). The apt. was very clean and open. The kids enjoyed the DVD player attached to the TV. We enjoyed sleeping with the windows open at night to the sounds of the crashing waves. We would certainly stay again!

We had a super time in North East Labor Day weekend, 2008, staying in one of these apartments. Chuck McClelland is the nicest human being you could ever hope to meet! The Lake is gorgeous and the apartment was just right. We definitely hope to return here someday!

I unfortunately had to cancel my reservation for August 2008, but I wanted to say that Mr. McClelland is a very sincere, kind and understanding man. At late notice he was VERY accomodating about the cancellation and returned the FULL deposit without question or hassle. Prior to having to cancel he was ALWAYS there with an answer to EVERY question we had. It is not often that people shine these days, Mr. McClelland is one of them. I highly recommend contacting him in regard to his rental. Hats off to you sir!

We loved this place! The location was perfect for wine country and Presque Isle. Also a good jumping off point for Niagra Falls and points in Ohio (Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame). The beach across the street kept our kids entertained for hours, finding beach glass. The public beach down the road was also a wonderful place to hang out with the kids because it was guarded, yet less crowded than Presque Isle. The owners were very hospitable and made sure that we had everything we needed. We would stay here again!!!

The apartment was great, had everything we needed. The owners, Charles and his wife, were extremely friendly and accommodating. There's more than one apartment, so it may not look exactly like what's in the picture, but not in a bad way. Cell phone reception is minimal, but still available... just makes it easier to relax if you ask me! The lake access was wonderful, we spent time beach combing for glass (plenty there!) I would definitely recommend this rental for both summer and winter use.
