What a wonderful little apartment. Just perfect. We stayed there for 5 weeks and didn't want to leave. Carmela has it set up perfectly and you couldn't find a more helpful and gracious landlady. The location is outstanding. A few minutes walk to the number 8 tram into town or the number 3 bus to Pyramide and on to the Colosseo, or an easy walk into town too. The daily markets in Piazza San Cosimato are just around the corner and the marvelous Santa Maria in Trastevere and it's piazza is 5 minutes walk. There are myriad terrific restaurants and several supermercatos and all kinds of shops in very easy reach. It is a short walk up the Gianicolo or the 115 bus goes up the street and on to the Vatican. The Tempietto is a stones throw away. We plan to stay here again!

My wife and I just spent the month of January, 2012 at this apartment and were completely satisfied. It's well equipped and best of all, very safe and quiet. You can find an open market very close to the building, a bar/cafe on the corner, and many other excellent restaurants within five minutes of the apt. There is a hospital also located very close and the emergency room is available to foreigners. We used the tram to take us to Argentina station and from there it's an easy walk to most of the sites you will want to see. Excellent bus service is also close at hand. I highly recommend this apartment to anyone visiting Rome. The location is perfect and Carmella is a big help. If needed, she can provide you with transportation from/to the airport or Termini station.

We spent two weeks in this apartment and wish we could have spent two more. The location couldn't be better and the apartment itself was clean, quiet, well equipped and spacious. Bring an alarm clock if you want to get up early, though, because the windows face inner courtyards and sun doesn't shine directly into any of the rooms. Carmela is helpful and gracious. She says you can call on her for assistance in making restaurant reservations, arranging transportation to and from the airport, etc., and she means it. Trastevere, in our opinion, is the only place in Rome to stay and we can highly recommend Iliara House. Restaurants, shops, transportation, the Tiber and many "must see" sites are within walking distance. We chose this place in part because of all the favorable reviews, and are happy to add ours to them,

My husband, daughter and I had the pleasure of staying in this lovely apartment from October 4th to October 7th 2011. Everything written in reviews about this apartment is true. Great location( central to everything in Rome. Trastevere, the most interesting and best area in Rome in my opinion) safe and very quiet and most comfortable. It's the extra touches Carmela and David do that sets this apartment apart from the rest. Carmela so lovely, friendly and helpful, from the bottle of wine on arrival, to the offer to book us Dinner reservations( had we wanted them) . When we arrived after we got settled in, she was off to help one of her other apartment tennants get to a doctor when they developed a pain problem. Our stay in this apartment was one of the highlights of our month in Italy and Greece. My husband is still raving about the coffee provided! Carmela and David own a couple of other apartments in Rome as well so you might want to check out their other listings as well:) Hopefully we will return some day.:) Thanks for letting us stay Carmela and David we enjoyed every minute!

I picked this place because of all of the positive reviews. I am glad because they were accurate. Carmela and David were great to deal with and also helped us get to our terribly early flight out of Rome. The place is clean and comfortable. It feels quite secure as it is within huge outside locking doors that lead to the apartment, then the actual apartment door is about as secure as you can get. The location is a nice area. A good pick for your Rome stay!

We loved the apartment and its location and would definitely come back and stay again. Fully equipped, handy to supermarket and fresh food market. We walked to many of the major tourist destinations easily. A lovely vibrant area which felt safe, and just far enough away from the main tourist spots to feel like you were in Rome with the locals. Thanks David for meeting us and Ilenia for taking us to the airport.

This was a wonderful apartment in the old city in Roma (Trastevere) that was central to the main tourist sites without being right in them. Easy access to the metro system and a short walk to river. It was clean and well maintained and IIaria was a gracious host. I would highly recommend to anyone visiting Rome.

My husband and I stayed one week in this apartment and it was perfect - perfect location, perfect accommodations, perfect contacts to take us to and from the airport and aquaint us with the area. All of the positive reviews are accurate. We couldn't have asked for a better place to unwind after a hectic day of sightseeing and Trastevere was a great, safe, non-touristy area to find a late night dinner or wander around after the "must see" signts of Rome had been seen. Very easy to get to everything to visit - this apartment is quiet and off the beatan path, but well connected. We walked so many places and took the tram and busses other times. Take the 115 bus up to Gianicolo hill for a wonderful view of the city. We would stay here again any time! Use the pick up and drop off service to the airport - quite a deal for the service and peace of mind it brought.

We just returned from our trip to Itay and this apartment was a favorite of ours. Location was great easy to catch bus/train within in walking distance of many places. Carmela was so easy to work with and answered all our questions. She offered to have someone pick us up at the airport (small fee) which we took her up on and so glad we did. Floriana also should us around the immediate area which was a huge help. We loved Rome if we get a chance to come back we will definetly inquire about using this apartment again.

Just returned from our trip to Italy and our stay in Rome was the highlight of this trip. We were able to walk to most attractions, the open air market on the next street offered high quality ingredients and the kitchen had everything needed to cook amazing meals. The beds are very comfortable and the sleep was restful due to the coutyards. The airport pick up was most appreciated after a long flight plus the helpful tips provided by the driver made our stay more interesting.

My husband and I recently returned from our weeklong mid-March stay in this wonderfully located apartment. Carmela and her son responded quickly to any issue that arose. The bed is probably the most comfortable one we've had on our travels. Public transportation is close by as well as shopping for groceries. We would not hesitate to return to this apartment on a future trip to Rome.

Everything I read in the reviews about this place and owners was true! Very nice people to deal with, honest, and helpful. I rented the apartment for 2 weeks in February 2011. The listing and photos are very representative of the apartment and when I arrived it was clean and well maintained. I have already recommended this rental to my friends and family as it was a great deal and an easy, comfortable place to use as a base for a vacation. The location of the apartment is wonderful as it's quiet, close to 4 grocery stores, an open air market, restaurants, cafes, and transportation. I was picked up at the airport by Leonardo who is a cheerful, enthusiastic young man who answers all your questions and has helpful hints about where to go, what transportation to take and restaurants to go to. Carmella is great to deal with when putting your deposit down on the apartment, have any questions about how something operates, what bus or train to take if you need to get somewhere or have any other questions. The apartment is well furnished, quiet, mattress is very comfortable, kitchen is easy to cook in - and with all the markets and fresh food so close it's a great deal and fun to make some really quick and easy, great tasting pasta meals! This was the first time I have used VRBO so I was not quite sure how it would turn out - I based my choice on the reviews of the apartment and they all turned out to be very accurate and helpful. I intend on returning to Rome and using it as a base for travel in Italy and will rent the apartment again as its location is excellent, quiet, a good price and the owners are great to deal with. Thanks!!!

My wife and I stayed in this apartment for 10 days, including Christmas and the new year. We both really liked the apartment as well as the location. The apartment itself was in a nice building, quiet, pleasant and well equipped. The owner (Carmela) and the representatives we met (Leonardo and Davide, her son) were very nice to deal with and we had clear communication and everything went as planned. The apartment felt like home we were happy to come back to. The neighborhood is nice. We walked a lot and this was a nice location to do it. Even in Trastevere, it was well located - close to the center and the area where a lot of restaurants are, but not in it (as it would have been noisy). We would definitely recommend a stay there.

The apartment in Trastevere was perfect - clean, quiet, efficient and conveniently located. And the owners were extremely helpful in getting us settled, recommending restaurants and making reservations for us. It was nice to stay in a neighborhood, away from the tourist crowds, yet a quick tram or bus ride away from all the sites. And, there is much to see and do nearby in Trastevere, like the open air market on the other side of the block where we bought fresh fruits and vegetables. Nearby there were wonderful food shops for pastries, meats, cheese, bread, as well as a supermarket for the basics. In addition, you don't have to walk far to find excellent pizza, gelato, trattorias and other places to eat. All in all, it was a wonderful 10 days and the apartment was great to come back to at the end of each day.

Just want to say how pleased we were with the apartment in the Trastevere! We spent eight nights and enjoyed every minute of our trip. The apartment more than met our expectations. It had all the comforts we hoped for. The transportation from the airport was excellent, we wished we had used David for the return trip as well. The location is excllent, we walked and used public transportation to visit all points in the city. The next time we travel to Rome we intend to use the apartment again.

It was nice living in an actual Italian neighborhood to get the flavor of the lifestyle in Rome. The people were very friendly too--we really enjoyed the Mamelli's Cafe across the street! We took our son for his first visit to Italy and were very happy we chose to rent the apartment. The entrance was under some major construction which both David and his mom warned us about. I am sorry we did not get to see the beautiful courtyard. Even with the construction once we stepped inside the apartment we never heard any construction going on . The apartment looks exactly as it did in the pictures. The location of the apartment is wonderful. There is a very safe and very neighborhood feeling about it. Would recommend it to anyone and would stay again if I return. David picked us up at the aiport and that was a great way to get to know the area.

We stayed at the apartment for five days in early June. It is located in a really great part of Rome. We loved the fact that it was out of the heavily touristy areas, and that even within Trastevere it wasnt in the really crowded noisy part nearer the river. The area felt authentic and Roman. The apartment had everything we could possibly need, and was spotlessly clean. Customer care from the owner and family was excellent. We would recommend the place most highly

The apt is complete with all necessary(maybe more) appliences. The location is almost at the heart of the city. Connected to many sightseeing locations with frequent buses and trams. Lively parts of Trastevere, namely Gianicolo and Santa Maria Piazza are very close to the apt and can be reached in 5 minutes with safe and short walking routes. There is an open market just behind the apt, a hairdresser and many cafes and restaurants. The owners are generous and thoughtful enough to leave a bottle of champagne to celebrate our wedding. Me and my wife enjoyed every second that we spent at the apt during our honeymoon. After walking and sightseeing all day, it was a relief to know that we can easily return home by a public transport and there is a comfortable couch waiting at home. Definitely would like to stay again next time we come to Rome.

We stayed at this apartment for our honeymoon, and absolutely fell in love with the area. It is very conveniently located near shops, restaurants, and short walking distance from most of the major attractions in Rome. It is also very close to public transportation, making it very easy to get around. The apartment was very clean, and the bed was quite comfortable. Having the washing machine was very convenient so we could do laundry every couple of days. Carmela was very helpful with any questions we had prior to our visit, as well those that we had during our time there. We were sad to leave, and would stay here again in a heartbeat!

My father-in-law and I stayed here for 4 nights in March of 2010. It was my second visit to Rome and his first. The apartment could not have been better. I love Trastavere so this is my ideal place in this great city. It is nice to go out and do the sightseeing during the day and then come back to this part of town where there are fewer tourists and just relax and find a great restaurant. And, there are plenty of great choices in the area. For anyone with a small group that is traveling to Rome, stop your search. You have found the place you need to stay.

This apartment was exactly what was stated in the advertisement. Our family of 5 was very comfortable for a week this spring. Davide waited for us at the apartment to show us around and even taught me how to make espresso the Italian way! It is a great locale, a bus ride away from all the historic parts of Rome, yet in a quite neighborhood with vegetable market in the morning and meat and bread shops just around the corner. It gave us a real experience of how people in Rome live. Clean, comfortable, and yes the Wifi kept the teenagers in touch with home! I'd definitaly stay here again.
Owner response:Dear Pam, Thank you very much for your beautiful comment. I'm so happy to have satisfied you and your family. I hope to have you again as guests

We were very pleased with the apartment in Trastevere. It was very centrally located without being noisy and busy. We appreciated having a washing machine and enjoyed making coffee and dinner in the well-equipped kitchen. The apartment looked just like the featured photos. Construction was going on in the courtyard while we were there, but our apartment was still surprisingly quiet. Leonardo was helpful to us and we did like the service from the airport. Would recommend the il bacocco restaurant just next door--very good food, nice people, and an upbeat spot for food and drink. We would recommend the apartment to friends and relatives alike.

We stayed at this apartment in March 2010. The comments from previous guests and the photos are accurate. The owners were interested in making sure we had the right information and enjoyed ourselves. They even emailed during the week to see if we needed anything and if all was OK. The apartment was very quiet, but still very close to public transit - the transit system has an English website and is easy to use. We found the bed quite comfortable and the newly remodeled bathroom to be both nice and a reasonable size. The kitchen worked fine and it was a really nice touch to have tour books, coffee, oil, a bottle of water, a bottle of wine, laundry soap and dishwasher soap in the apartment. We used the internet with our computers and had no trouble with speed. We use the aiport pick-up/drop off service and were very glad we did - a reasonable price plus we got guidance on what to see and where to eat during the trip. Overall, a really wonderful week and somewhere we would like to return.

Together with my wife I have lived at the Ilaria House for forty days in August/September 2009. I highly recommend it to everybody! It has been an excellent Roman experience, and when I come back to Rome I will definitely try it again. This is a wonderful apartment with all the facilities mentioned on its website. There are two air-conditioning units (one in the living room and another one in the bedroom). Both of them were doing a very good job. In fact I have been using only one at a time. The WiFi connection was excellent (54 Mbps) and worked without any interruption all the time. The kitchen has all needed appliances including all sorts of staples (e.g., coffee, oil, salt, etc.). Moreover, when I came, as a welcome sign, there was an excellent bottle of white wine and mineral water. Davide and Ilaria have been very nice and helpful. The bed linen and all towels have been changed on a regular basis. Davide went out of his way both to wait at the airport when we came, and to take us back to the airport when we left (at 05:30 AM !). Moreover, Davide helped me with a cellular phone.

Back from a week in Rome where we stayed in a few hotels as well as this apartment. The apartment was far and above our best experience. The location is tremendous. It is very close to all the sites, but even better, the area of Trastevere it is located in is just perfect for a traveller in Rome. It is around the corner from endless piazzas, full of locals and tourists of all ages. We barely saw a car the entire time. We had countless places to eat and drink, as well as two big outdoor markets. The apartment is right around the corner from a great, eccentric, un- touristy and unlicensed outdoor trattoria that the New York Times recently profiled as one of their favorites in all Rome: Da I 2 Ciccioni (Vicolo del Cedra) [Google "Best Trattoria in Rome? Let the Debate Begin" for the article ] The apartment is also right at the base of the steps to Giancarlo Hill, which offers the highest viewpoints in the city, and boasts a Botanic gardens. The apartment itself was much more spacious than the 3+ star hotels we stayed in. It is in a lovely quiet courtyard. We made our own Italian coffee each morning, were able to clean some clothes in the washing machine. Everything was spotless and as promised. Our host Davide was friendly and helpful and drove even us to the airport at 6am for a good price. If you prefer public transport, the local tram takes you a short distance to the Trastevere train station which takes you all the way to the airport. I highly recommend this place. If we return to Rome we will rent this place again for certain!

The apartment is located in Trastevere which is a wonderful neighborhood near the major sights. We felt at home the minute we walked into the apartment. It is very comfortable and David and Ilaria provide a well stocked apartment. It was quiet at night with the courtyard setting. They both speak excellent English. Ilaria is efficient in her email responses and arranged for Davide to provide transportation from the airport. He checked us into the apartment and gave us information about the area which helped us transition into busy Rome. The benches in little San Cosimato square around the corner were great in the morning to have our local pastry or in the evening to rest a bit and enjoy watching the local families and couples. We loved that we were in the hub of fantastic local restaurants with reasonable prices, and could be be home in a 5-10 minute walk. Thanks for a wonderful stay!

The apartment in Trastevere is located on a lovely block in a wonderful Rome neighborhood, just a few steps from a small local farmer's market, and only a few blocks from the most beautiful church in Rome (Santa Maria di Trastevere) and many wonderful restaurants, bars, coffee houses. The small kitchen is very well equipped (stove, oven, washing machine, dishwasher, coffee maker, etc.) Heat, air conditioning, hot water all work very well. The owners, Ilaria and David, brother and sister, are very accommodating. The price is quite reasonable. There is a tram just a block away that runs every 5 minutes to Largo Argentina...very convenient. Overall, a wonderful experience.

My husband & I stayed here 10 days while visiting our daughter who is studying at John Cabot Unniversity. The location was perfect - easy to walk everywhere and the Trastevere area is charming filled with many restaurants and shops. The apartment was well equiped with pots, pans, spices, extra sheets, washer, blow dryer, cd player etc. - we loved making our own expresso every morning. Internet worked perfectly. The bed was very comfortable and the apartment very quiet. Communication was very efficient. Airport transporation - to & from was wonderful - same cost as a taxi but better with Davide introducing us to the area and explaining everyting in the apartment. I highly recommend staying here and cannot wait to visit again.

We stayed for 1 week and found the apartment to great. The location is superb with many wonderful restaurants in this authentic neighborhood. The owners were able to arrange pick up from the airport which was the same cost as a taxi. Everything the owners promised was provided. The apartment was very quiet and we would recommend it to friends.

We loved our stay in Trastavere! Davide was really helpful, welcoming us at the airport and sharing some restaurant recommendations and tips for sightseeing. I highly recommend using the nearby buses and electric tram...and definitely don't miss the Piazza at Santa Maria in Trastevere.

I travel a lot and this is the second time that I have stayed at this apartment in Rome. I love the location, close to Piazza Cosimato and Gianicolo Hill in Trastevere. The apartment is well equipped with easy to use internet access and charming. The family that owns it is most hospitable and willing to accomodate any of your needs. Plus, they speak fluent English. I feel as though this apartment has become my second home as I have lived here for months at a time.

My 16 year old son and I stayed at this apartment three nights in mid July. It was just as advertised and photographed, very comfortable and superbly appointed with furniture and kitchen supplies. It was in the low 90s each day yet the air conditioning unit cooled the bedroom well and even the other living areas were comfortable with just the main window (onto a very quiet courtyard) open in the evening and night. The location in Trastevere is wonderful; we felt like we were in the "real" Rome, surrounded by real Romans rather than by other tourists. Ilaria was very thorough and professional to deal with in making the booking over the internet and Davide was completely reliable and very friendly in opening the apartment, orienting us and providing a ride for us the airport. I highly recommend this apartment for parties of 1-4 for those planning a stay in Rome.

We loved this apartment - we stayed there for a week June 14-20 with myself, daughter, grandaughter, and son and it was perfect. We loved the homey neighborhood and felt so safet walking around to restaurants, etc. Would definitely stay here again and recommend it highly. Exactly like the website indicated. David was wonderful - picked us up at the Termini and took us to the airport.

We stayed here for a week and the apt was superb. Very close to tram lines and a short walk to weekend markets and great non-touristy restaurants. During summer, sleeping in the family room might be a little hot as the A/C was only in the bedroom. We'd stay here again for sure.

We spent two weeks in this charming apartment and absolutely loved it. It is nicely decorated, has an extremely comfortable bed, great electrical connections, and is very functional. The most fabulous part of this apartment is its location!!! It is superb!! It is in very easy walking distance to stores, bars, restaurants, trattorias, Santa Maria of Trastevere, Gianocolo Hill, etc., etc. If you stay here, do request that they pick you up at the airport. Our driver, Davide, was very pleasant, helpful, and competent. We would stay in this apartment again in a heartbeat.
