Artwork lines a stairway that leads to a guest sleeping loft. Our home is pleasingly furnished with many new, comfortable pieces that include a queen-size bed, a double-size bed, and two full-size sleeping futons in the livingroom. We provide the firewood for the wood-burning stove. The home has central heating, central air conditioning, ceiling fans, and many windows for natural air circulation. There is plenty of private parking on this spacious property.

You can use the front deck for outside dining and bird-watching. You may also be visited by our local wildlife families of turkeys, deer, raccoons, bobcats, and foxes. Bring your cameras!
Located at an elevation of 4,450 feet above sea level, the historic gold mining town of Julian is located one hour east of coastal San Diego. San Diegans and out-of-town visitors enjoy its unique proximity to state, national and county parks with plentiful hiking and riding trails. The picturesque Anza Borrego Desert is situated just to the east of us. Beautiful Lake Cuyamaca, available for fishing enthusiasts, lies twenty minutes south. You can use your Julian location to take day trips to these nearby attractions throughout the year.
Situated within areas of apple orchards, Julian is well-known for its delicious apple pies, wine-tasting, sense of history, romantic surroundings, and old goldmine. The township has maintained its historic buildings, that now house good restaurants, boutiques, and old-time melodrama entertainment.

Such a nice Cabin! The owner was such a nice lady, who worked with us and made the entire process extremely easy. Very clean and nice cabin! The owner even went up before we got there and turned the heater on, so when we got there the cabin was warm! Now that is something I've never experienced! I highly, highly recommend using this cabin for both the amenities and wonderful owner!Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

I give the Lovely Julian Mountain Retreat a 2 thumbs up! The place was great. From the charcoal for the grill to the fresh towels and linens, the renters really did think of everything! There is plenty of space and our family of eight was very comfortable. I have to say the price is great too! I shopped around looking for the perfect place for our family' s vacation and this was a great deal, with no hidden fees. We will definitely use this rental again, hopefully for a longer period of time. Thank you Nada, your place really is a lovely retreat :)Recommended for: Families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children.

The Lovely Julian Mountain Retreat is perfectly named. My husband and I stayed two nights and didn't want to leave, it was so wonderful. The cabin is charming, cozy yet spacious and has all the amenities you could need. Nestled in the woods in a quiet neighborhood about 2 miles to town, it was convenient but quiet. We saw deer in the side yard! We took a short walk to the end of the road to discover a breathtaking view. We were especially happy that we could bring our dog (we plan our vacations around her) and she loved it too. We drove about 9 miles to Lake Cuyamaca and rented a little motor boat, took our dog out for a spin, fed the ducks. In town we sampled 3 different bakeries, hands down the best is the Candied Apple Pastries, you must go there! Nada the owner is very gracious. Also the value of what you get for the rental fee is unbeatable, really great. Highly reccomend this gem for a little romantic getaway!Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway, pet owners.
Owner response: Dear Misha, Thank you for your review that gives a clear picture of The Lovely Julian Mountain Retreat and surrounding neighborhood. The natural beauty of the area, and wildlife, present many photo opportunities for visiting guests. I look forward to your return in the future, Nada

As we pulled into the driveway, we knew this was going to be a special experience. It is the definition of the word “charm” - a mountain home nestled amongst oak and pine trees. The interior - natural wood paneling - gives it a rustic cabin look. And, the outside deck, where we spent many a late afternoon, added to the enjoyment of our Julian adventure. The property is very well taken care of, clean and nicely decorated. The kitchen has all the pots, pans and utensils that a cook needs. My husband, who is a columnist for a regional publication and has been looking for a “writer’s retreat” for the past 20 years, exclaimed: “This is it, I’ve found it!" We look forward to returning to the Lovely Mountain Retreat. Owner response: Thank you for your thoughtful review! I find that each of our guests enjoys different aspects of the Lovely Julian Mountain Retreat home and property. This house is within two miles of a bustling, touristy town and yet it is very quiet and rural. It is nestled on a gorgious mountain with beautiful trees surrounding all. Our landlady was very accommodating and very informative and her "cleaning gal Friday" went out of her way to procure a few items for us. We hope to utilize "lovely Julian" as our home away from home to escape our Tucson heat again! No air conditioning needed here ( for us).Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, adventure seekers, girls getaway, pet owners, age 55+.
Owner response: Thank you for your informative review. Our Lovely Julian Mountain Retreat is well-suited for extended stays, with its well-equipped kitchen and laundry. We go out of our way to help our guests feel comfortable and at home. The beautiful Julian area provides many sight-seeing opportunities, with its bountiful hiking trails and wildlife. We encourage guests to bring their cameras, to capture pictures of migrating birds and deer.

A group of 3 coworkers and myself stayed at The Lovely Julian Mountain Retreat from May 3-7, 2012. The house was extremely clean upon arrival and reflected the photos posted. The owner answered all of my question before I booked the rental. While we did not spend a lot of time there since we were attending a local seminar for work, 10-12 hours each day, it was very nice to come back to a home each night instead of a motel. The house was very close (5 min drive) to the main area of Julian. The price was very reasonable for 4 people and the house had more than enough space for all of us. The information packet provided upon arrival gave us all the info we needed for our evening dining in Julian. I will definitely stay here again for both work and personal trips and recommend it to others. We dined in several restaurants in Julian over the 5 days and had good experiences in all of them.Recommended for: People with disabilities, sightseeing, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, adventure seekers, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, age 55+.

This is a lovely cozy home in the woods in a nice quiet neighborhood less than 2 miles from the town of Julian. The wood burning stove keeps the place toasty warm and there is a stacked wood right outside the door. The owner, Nada, is very attentive and made sure all was well upon our arrival and addressed any of our concerns. My husband and I spent four nights here. We enjoyed visiting Julian and some of the local attractions.Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway, girls getaway, pet owners, age 55+.

It is in an excellent location, within five minutes of Julian's historic town site. We work hard to keep our rental guests comfortable and happy during their stay. My husband and I recently stayed at the Lovely Julian Mountain Retreat for a few days of our honeymoon. The property is very well taken care of, clean, and beautifully put together. We love how the place is decorated, and it felt very romantic. A very short walk up the street leads to an amazing view of the desert, and the atmosphere is very enjoyable with the fresh cool air, trees, and and lots of beautiful birds to watch. There are even apple trees in the yard with delicious apples! In the fall and winter are great times to be in Julian because of the wonderful apple pies and the classic holiday feel. This was the perfect getaway!Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway, girls getaway.
Owner response: The Lovely Julian Mountain Retreat is a romantic getaway in a beautiful country area of Julian. Thank you for your clear description, that describes the special qualities of this beautiful home.

After reading the previous guest reviews, my husband and I thought this would be a great place for our family, including our 3 young children. It is in a quiet and pretty neighborhood but the cabin needs a lot of work. We were disappointed to see lots of dust, pet hair, and crumbs on the floor and futons. The blankets and bath towels even had pet hair on them. The loft looked like a fun place to be but was VERY dusty and the stair banisters were very unsafe as our toddler easily fit through them and we had to be extra careful to watch her. If you don't mind that and paying a lot for a place like this, then go for it. It's in a great location, close to town and the Smith Ranch which we would highly recomend.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, adventure seekers, pet owners.
Owner response: The Lovely Julian Mountain Retreat is thoroughly and consistently cleaned between each vacation renters' stay. Blankets, mattress covers, and used linens are washed between each stay. All areas of the house are dusted. This is a beautiful home that is in good order. It is enjoyed and appreciated by our rental guests. This owner supervises and reviews each cleaning of the home. The owner believes that these statements are very misleading, malicious, and a deliberate attempt to discredit the owner and this vacation rental.
