Why the Owner Chose Private Homes, Unspecified
I fell in love with the area when I was a boy hunting deer and elk in the mountains north of town. Although the area is developing, it still remains a more laid-back resort spot with great hunting, fishing and skiing.
The Unique Benefits at this House
Deer and elk are seen in the hay meadow in front of the cabin almost daily. We can bike to town or up Rabbit Ears Pass for a more challenging road-ride. Public land and the Emerald Mountain State Wildlife Area lie two miles north.

Nancy and I grew up in Colorado. We love backpacking, biking, and hiking. I spend most of my spare time hunting, fishing and getting the cabin ready for guests.

Great Escape!

The cabin is exactly what we had in mind and is exactly as described. I really enjoyed making a fire in the little wood stove, though it was not required due to baseboard heat. The kitchen is fully set up and even has a dishwasher! Our college aged daughter enjoyed having the loft with all of the windows for her own. With the 2 bedrooms downstairs we (me and hubby) and grandma all had our own space. This is the cabin of my dreams. The logs are huge and it's well positioned with big windows and big views! We turned out the lights and sat each night and watched the full moon rise over Steamboat ski area. It was so beautiful to watch it move across the sky. The snow would glow in the moonlight. Before the moonrise we watched the stars. It was amazing how many could be seen without city lights! Awoke one morning to see the moon set and found the elk heard bedded down in the aspen grove behind the cabin! We watched as they all slowly got up to start the day. There is a DVD player if you want to watch a movie and town is an easy drive for restaurants etc. Our thanks to Nancy and Bob for renting this wonderful cabin. We are looking forward to a return trip.

This beautiful cabin exceeded our expectations of a relaxing Thanksgiving get-away for 4 adults and to celebrate an anniversary and birthday! It is apparent upon entering this quaint cabin of the owners' pride. It was very clean, well stocked, and a warm place. The snow and sledding on the hill just outside the cabin was an added plus! First sight of the cabin had WELCOME written all over it. I can't wait to return again. Thank you, Bob and Nancy, for sharing your cabin with us.

The pictures don't even do this cabin justice. The layout is great for a larger group. The owners have thought of everything and then come up with more. There are movies, games, binoculars, all the kitchen extras you can think of, wood already sitting by the woodstove, sleds and a view to die for! The balcony is cozy and great for bringing the dogs outside with you and not having to keep an eye on them. I could go on and on but suffice it to say....above and beyond. We planned our next visit while we were still there!
Owner response:Thank you! And it's all true. Even the windows are clean.

We stayed at the Haller Hideaway for four days over President's weekend. From the beautiful views to the quiet serenity, this cabin offers a great retreat from the the paces of everyday life. The wood-burning stove is truly unique, and does an amazing job to heat the cabin. The loft upstairs is perfect for the children. Our golden retrievers loved the open land and had so much fun running through the deep snow. We'll definitely consider this cabin again for our next trip to Steamboat Springs!
Owner response:Thank you C and K. I also loved it when you emailed that the Hideaway "...exceeded all our expectations." --Nancy

We just came back from our Steamboat Springs vacation and our stay at Haller Hideaway. It was wonderful. We couldn't have been more comfortable. Everything was exactly as described. It wasn't too big for just my husband and I, yet it could have easily accommocated 4+ more people. Convenient location for our hikes to Devil's Causeway, Hahn's Peak, town of Steamboat, and various hikes into Zirkel Wilderness Area. Thanks for sharing your wonderful cabin with us - we LOVED it!

This cabin is totally modern with every convenience and totally spic and span. Setting couldn't be more beautiful and serene. Looks right at Mt. Werner. Highly recommended if you are looking for something different than a condo or hotel - and you can bring the pups! Plenty of room to roam for the dogs. Also great spot for mountain biking or cycling, as the roads have few cars on them. Fish the Yampa or Stagecoach Reservoir 0 ten minutes away. Fifteen minutes to town or the ski hill. We will be back! Thanks!

We loved the cabin! The cabin was immaculately clean and wonderfully maintained. And it was wonderful to be able to include our dogs in the family vacation. For us, the highlight was the marvelous sled hills right out the front door. We had a wonderful time spending our days sledding. It's an incredibly comfortable cabin with wonderful views of the resort. We'll definitely be back!
