Awesome Cabin in Great Location

We stayed at this property 12/24/11-1/1/12 and really enjoyed our stay. The cabin was exactly as described on the VRBO site but was actually much nicer than the pictures showed. The property was very clean, well maintained and the kitchen was well equipped. The view was awesome and the location is very convenient for trips to Boone, Sugar Mountain, Hawksnest, Grandfather Mountain etc. We have stayed at many VRBO rentals but I have to say that the owner Bill was one of the most helpful and considerate that I have encountered. We truly enjoyed our stay and would defiantly recommend this property for both summer and winter rental.

We love this cabin so much we've rented it for the last five years in a row. We have a touring motorcycle and enjoy its close proximity to the Blue Ridge Parkway and other scenic, winding roads. The eastern view means pleasant morning sun with the mountain shading you in the evenings. Being high on the mountain there always seems to be a breeze. We've never encountered flies, gnats, or mosquitoes. The winding road leading to the cabin is well paved. The community is very quiet and has its own police force. Its a rustic log cabin yet has all the amenities of a well equipped home (with the exception of a garbage disposal). Everything always works...yet if there is a issue, the owner is two doors over and takes care of it immediately.

I stayed at Eagles Nest for 2 months this past year (July & September) and had a great time. The cabin was large but also cozy. It has all the amenities of being at home (washer & dryer, a full kitchen with dishwasher, cable tv and internet) but a true getaway from the hustle & bustle of life. You can be as active or as quiet as you want. The mountain of Seven Devils is very peaceful. There is very little traffic so you can enjoy a peaceful walk down the road or investigate the natural beauty of the undeveloped mountain area. Not far from the base of the mountain there are multiple activities available (gem mining, trout fishing, golf, hiking, outlet shopping and much more). You are only about 15 minutes from Grandfather Mountain and a world of activities. You are also about 20 minutes from the Blue Ridge Parkway which offers breathtaking views and small towns with the feel of a Norman Rockwell hometown. A great area for families of all ages.

We spent a month at the cabin last year and it was great in every respect. Loved the "rustic" feel blended with modern conveniences. It was close to restaurants, shopping and outdoor activities, and the views were spectacular. We spent a a day white water rafting, and we still talk about the experience. The owner met us when we arrived to explain everything and was just 2 houses away when we had a question. The cabin was "spic & span" and did not have that lingering odor that other vacation homes we've rented in the past have had. It was exactly as represented and more. We plan on recommending this getaway to friends and will visit again soon. As we left my wife said: "Best vacation we've had in years." I agree!
Owner response:We have tried to keep that new cedar cabin aroma and feel with mostly monthly and by-week rentals plus cleanup done by a personal friend, not company, so the cabin does not get that "beat" look so many mountain cabins & condos have from too many short term rentals. Bill & Elaine

My wife and I had the honor of staying in this best kept secret for almost a week. It was the honeymoon we never got to have. There is so much to see and enjoy minutes from the cabin's location, but foremost the peace and quiet of the cabin itself was well worth the trip out there. We enjoyed coffee on the front deck in the early mornings and watched the clouds roll over us and down the mountain as the sun rose. Being a combat veteran, it was the perfect place to relax, unwind, and get back in touch with my wife after a year's tour. The area is incredibly military friendly all around with much to see, do, and simply enjoy with close family or on your own. You are treated almost like family by everyone you meet if you go out to meet anyone at all and just stay in and enjoy the clean fresh air, the quiet, and views from atop the mountain... I strongly encourage anyone to share in this awesome location and serenity found there unlike anywhere else I have ever been. It is well worth the trip.

Great Mountain Vacation

We have enjoyed this home for family vacations in the high country over the last few years. The house is near the top of the small town Seven Devils, just outside of Boone but closest to Banner Elk, and nestled among the peaks of Grandfather, Sugar and Beech Mountain. The view from the front deck faces east and is great for morning sunrises and afternoon views of the mountains going out for what seems like 50 miles. The log cabin house still feels brand new, has the log cabin feel throughout including wood beams over the main living area and wood covered ceilings in all the bedrooms. The two bedrooms in the top level have plenty of room, lots of window space, and share a bathroom with a window. The main level is mostly wood-floored, has a large living room with floor-ceiling stone fireplace, dining area, half-bath, kitchen, pantry with washer-dryer, and a large bedroom with private bath. The house is very clean and open, good for small or large groups. The location is well centered to local towns, attractions, and restaurants. Since it rests at the top of the mountain with other residences, it also affords lots of quiet and lightly travelled roads which make it great for taking walks which can lead through the woods or along the top ridgeline to get mountaintop views in all directions. We have always had a great experience!

We loved this cabin. It was quiet, quaint, and was decorated so neat. The big windows in front let in the beautiful sunshine in the mornings and the front poarch is so big, making it the perfect place for morning coffee. The views from the front poarch are very nice any time of day. With a cozy fireplace you can really curl up on the comfy couch and read a book or watch a movie with the family. We enjoyed everything about it. The cabin has two levels, with plenty of room for a family to spread out. With a washer and dryer and complete kitchen, you are really able to make yourself at home. I would recommend this to anyone who is looking for a beautiful escape to the quiet mountains of North Carolina. It is not to far from shopping and walmart, and even fun vacation destinations. Just a few miles from Grandfather Mountain, I must see. Thanks to the kind folks who own this cabin for making it a real nice retreat for our family!
Owner response:We bought this cabin in 05 because it had the cedar wood smell, felt so comfy and remote, just below the ridgeline with great long valley views. Yet it is only a 30 minute drive to Boone and even less to Beech, Sugar, and Grandfather mountains for activities, great restaurants and shopping. Glad to hear you enjoyed your stay. Bill & Elaine
