Aloha. The KOA Resort is a beautiful 54 unit low density community. This resort is unique in having 5.7 acres of lush tropical landscaping. Most units are full time home owners and residents of the island of Maui. We are located across the street from over 6 miles of the most beautiful beaches in the world! Being on the leeward (drier side) side of the island provides warm dry days, cool evenings with intoxicating trade winds from the Northeast, and no insects!

Our town home is over 1200 square feet with a 300 square foot lanai (patio). We are very proud of our clean, comfortable home which we love. Three complete bedrooms, two baths, a large living and dining area including a washer & dryer will allow six guests to be very comfortable. There is one master bedroom with a king bed and private bath which is a loft area with privacy shoji screens and seating area while the other two bedrooms downstairs have queen beds. We have a pack-n-play (for infant) in addition to the three bedrooms and an inflatabile full bed for an extra guest. There are new ceiling fans in all rooms as well as air conditioning in the living dining area and the master bedroom. Most units on the island do not have air conditioning due to the trade winds and wonderful weather. Our unit is situated to take full advantage of the trade winds. Bring a sweater for the winter evenings. For those of you that have to work, we have high speed Internet in our home and wireless Internet in our Cabana just steps away by the two tennis courts. Just bring your laptop.

The KOA Resort has one of the largest heated pools on the south side of the island, a very nice hot tub spa right by the pool, and an outside shower. Two tennis courts, a large spacious cabana, gas grills, and shuffle board are all within steps of your front door. Shopping, dining, Safeway, Starbucks, Hilo Hattie’s, Stella Blues, Kihei Cafe and more are less than a mile to the east down Kihei Rd. Please look at our map.

Our townhome is very close to the best things to do in Maui. The Maui Ocean Center and Ma’alaea Harbor are a few miles to the west to include Humpback Whale watching with the Pacific Whale Foundation, snorkel trips or deep sea fishing excursions. Whale season is mid December through mid April. The beach is right across the street. Two blocks to the west is the Hawaiian Islands Humpback Whale National Marine Sanctuary. You can watch the sunset or whales from their deck, visit their education center, explore the ancient Hawaiian fishpond, or walk six uninterrupted miles on the white sand beach to Ma’alaea Harbor. The Kihei Canoe Club is one mile down Kihei Road right on the beach and welcomes guest paddlers on Tuesday and Thursday mornings with donations. Snorkel, swim, wind surf, paddle, or just sit on the beach. There is a bus service available right down on Kihei Rd. The bus schedule is available at 808-871-4838.

Lanai’s are made for sipping Mai Tai’s and you can definitely try that activity as well. For your Holiday on Maui our location, cleanliness and comfort should be your expectation in choosing the right lodging.

We can also have you met at the airport with Lei's, transport you to our home, or take you to Kihei Rental Car and then you may follow us to our home. This is for an additional fee. We offer services like this since you might be getting in late and not be familiar with the island. After a long flight sometimes it is just easier this way. Let us know in advance and we can accommodate you and your guests.

Mahalo for considering our home.

An AMAZING get away!!

Guest: jmac (colorado)
Date of Stay: 08/21/11 Review Submitted: 09/07/11

This property was everything I was looking for and more as well as being clean and in good working order. From the start the owners were very hands on in all aspects of my reservation. Anything and everything I needed and wanted to know was answered for me and taken care of immediately. Having stayed at various places all over the world I was more than impressed with the unit. The photos and amenities listed are spot on. The property had been upgraded and remodeled and it is obvious once you step in to the unit. The pool and hot tub that were onsite were also refreshing after a day on the beach. There was also a large covered area with grills which make for a great place to grill hang out and watch the sunset. Shopping was very close to the property and was more than accessible by foot. There are also numerous places to dine near by as well. I can not wait to make another trip to the island and plan on bringing friends and hope that this property is available the next time I arrive!! Thanks for making my trip memorable!!

Andrew and Phyllis went above and beyond with their graciousness! The home is so lovely and the views are breathtaking. We had a 10 and 12 year old boys with us who enjoyed all of the activities recommended to us by Andrew. There is shopping and restaurants within walking distance. I would highly recommend this warm and welcoming home as a vacation paradise!

TEXANS LOVE MAUI (San Antonio)

Guest: Bob (San Antonio, Texas, USA)
Date of Stay: 07/31/11 Review Submitted: 08/19/11

Aloha & Mahalo nui loa to Andrew & Phyllis. We had the opportunity to stay at their KOA home during the first week of August 2011. Their home was our home – it’s clean, spacious, and ever so comfortable. Mornings on the lanai with coffee, birds cooing and cool weather was a most wonderful change from hot Texas days and nights. We participated in building great memories: From Starlight cruises to Sailing on an America’s cup (America II) challenger in the 1987 cup to paddling an outrigger canoe (Hut, hut, ho) to a splendid visit upcountry to the beautiful lavender farm – what a wonderful week! The pictures on the website are great reflections of the property and the home. The word pristine comes to mind – not only for the pool, but for their home. The upstairs bathroom has been completely re-done with new tile and a fine shower. The Kihei location is perfect – providing easy access to Lahaina , great beaches in Wailea, Haleakala crater, Paia and its surfing beaches and many fine restaurants. I believe I ate the best sushi ever at a great place within a couple of miles of my home away from home (Sansei seafood restaurant and sushi bar). And Eskimo Candy and Mama’s Fish House were mighty fine as well. As Arnie once said, “I’ll be back.” Again, Andrew & Phyllis, thanks for your hospitality, for sharing your lovely home, for being so easy to work with, and for your recommendations about what to do.

Best Family Vacation!

Guest: c_maui (San Jose, CA)
Date of Stay: 08/06/11 Review Submitted: 08/15/11

My family and I just had the most amazing vacation ever! We have visited the island many times with our family, but this was the first time with our 8 month old son. We were worried because we have never traveled or gone on a trip with him before, but once we arrived at the rental my fears were laid to rest. The home is immaculate and the pool was a joy to have for Alex and the family. We enjoyed many days just playing in the pool, grilling, and going to the near by beaches. The home offered everything that we needed and more. It was centrally located to great beaches, shopping centers, and ammenities that you would not want to be without. Working with Andrew the owner was so seamless. He had everything we needed and was always available for any questions I had before and during our trip. I felt like he made it his mission to ensure that we had a wonderful experience. He embodied the "Aloha Spirit" that we have grown to love over the years of traveling to Hawaii. We are already thinking of when we can all go back! I highly reccomend this property. Colleen

Great location, clean and comfy, best pool and lanai for relaxing!

Guest: LKRider (Littleton, CO)
Date of Stay: 07/25/11 Review Submitted: 08/02/11

I was able to visit Maui with a couple of friends for a week in late July. We stayed in this lovely and affordable townhome in Kihei, and will return and recommend to others. We each had our own comfortable bedroom, and there is a roomy living area and fully stocked kitchen. The lanai is perfect for morning coffee (Kona, of course), cool and private, soooo relaxing! After our days of adventure, we would return to hang out at the amazing pool area- cool blue tiles, surrounded by green, uncrowded, as is the beach area across the street where we watched every sunset from the whale sanctuary place. Kihei is a good location for a base to explore all Maui has to offer, and because it is more 'local' it is quieter than the resort areas. Just down the road are great dining options, a slew of beach parks, Safeway is close- all you need for a 'home away from home' on beautiful Maui. Be sure to check out the Canoe Club close by (they let you come and paddle with them a couple of mornings a week!), and the lavender farm upcountry is the most beautiful place ever. Andrew (the unit's owner) is a wonderful resource for what to do and see on island. Mahalo!

The Fabulous Maui Adventure

Guest: Robie (VERMONT)
Date of Stay: 07/20/11 Review Submitted: 07/26/11

Phyllis and Andrew, ALOHA and MAHALO for allowing us to enjoy a true Hawaiian experience on the island of Maui - it was nothing short of spectacular! Because of your hospitality and willingness to share your piece of paradise, this was and always will be a truly memorable getaway. The property was spacious, comfortable and spotlessly clean. Everything we needed or wanted was right at out fingertips – felt like we were in our own home – away from home. We would strongly recommend your property to anyone looking to really enjoy the island of Maui as the locals do. Whether we chose to be lazy and lounge around the condo and huge pool area for the day or venture out around the island, the location was absolutely perfect. Being very close to town, quick trips to the post office, shopping and one-off errands to stock up on native fruits and vegetables took no time at all. The wonderful choice of OUTSTANDING restaurants to satisfy any craving nearby was fabulous. We especially appreciated your wealth of knowledge of the entire island and suggestions on where to go and what to see. For spectacular sunset dinners, our top 2 recommendations would be Mama’s Fish House on the north shore (make sure to order the ‘Relaxer’ at the bar before dinner) and the Four Seasons Hotel just a short drive from the condo. A breathtaking experience for the adventurous is the early get-up and drive to the summit at Haleakala National Park for a sunrise (dress warm) followed by the 6-hour horseback ride (lunch provided) down into the volcano’s crater – UNBELIEVABLE! The next morning we visited the Kihei Canoe Club just blocks up the street. We made a small donation and were welcomed to join in the launch of the outrigger canoes and to paddle out and observe close up (right next to the canoe) the large sea turtles in the sparkling clear South Pacific water. Thank you again Lady Deborah & Sir Robert

Owner response:Mahalo for your kind words. We are glad you and your wife had such a wonderful island experience. Your are welcome back anytime. Your kind comments reflect what we feel are the attributes of our home and the island of Maui. Andrew Anderson/Owner

The grounds a big plus, the unit a minus.

Guest: The ls (Calgary)
Date of Stay: 03/18/11 Review Submitted: 06/04/11

The grounds and pool area are very nice and well kept for an older development. The unit itself is showing it's age. Mid to late seventies. Floors, tiles, bathrooms and furniture all past treir prime. It is NOT a three bedroom unless you consider a loft with no privacy a bedroom. Everything except the Internet worked but there is wireless in the cabana. A dispute over the damage deposit tipped the scales to the negative.

Owner response:Yes our grounds are a low density property with only five buildings and are lush and tropical. We have the only heated pool on the leeward side of the island which is a draw to our property. Our unit has been upgraded with Hawaiian style furnishings, new master bath, all new ceiling fans in all rooms, new frig and dishwasher, new countertops. Each summer we do leasehold improvements to upgrade our home. Each room has a flat screen TV with all but one room with a DVD/CD player. Our Internet provider is Clearwire and works perfect. We also have wireless in our cabana area which can also be picked up due to our proximity to the cabana itself. We do have three bedrooms. The master as advertised is upstairs with it's own spiral staircase. There is an open area that has one four panel shoji screen and a three panel shoji screen for privacy. It is very private and extremely comfortable. This is a large master suite with it's own private updated bath, sitting area, A/C, and flat screen TV with a DVD/CD. Please disregard this rating. This rating was only given due to us keeping the damage deposit. After treating our home and property in a horrible manner these guests were told there deposit would be not returned. They told us if we didn't return their deposit while not denying the occrences they would give us a bad review. Essentially trying to hold us hostage! Some of the behaviors were their children did somethng to the pool that caused it to be shut down for three days. These guests were a distrubance to our neighbors. Their children used crayons on our walls and countertops. There was so much dirt, trash, food, and dirty diapers left on the floor we had to get the carpets cleaned prior to the next guests. Our housekeepers, whom we have had for four years, were appalled at the condition of our home. In four years with guests from all over the world we have never had anything but wonderful comments. We have a wonderful clean and comfortable home that we rent out to worldly travelers. Please view our video and pictures for the double truth. Please call if you have any questions about this review which is totally prevaricated.

Fantastic Townhome, Amazing Property, Great Location!

Guest: Di (Toronto, Ontario)
Date of Stay: 01/15/11 Review Submitted: 04/17/11

The listing doesn't do justice to how fantastic this townhome truly is! During our stay in Jan. 2011--our first visit--the place was clean, comfortable, and very well equipped for our 2 week stay on Maui. The townhome is bright, cheery, airy, well decorated, and has everything you need to relax and enjoy your stay on Maui. The tradewinds are luscious and keep everything cool and breezy in the townhome with the help of ceiling fans. Upstairs, there is a master suite with a super comfortable king bed and full bath. This is accessed via a circular stairway, so it may not be accesible to everyone. (The townhome itself is on the second floor, so there's some stairs there, too.) Downstairs, there are 2 bedrooms--each with very comfortable queen beds and ample closet space and shared bath. The living area/kitchen/dining room are the hub of activity and the Internet cable is there as well. There were 4 of us (1 couple and 2 singles) and everyone had plenty of room. The lanai is the most private on the property as the vegetation has grown up as high as the second story and is beautiful! The owner is super easy to work with and will accomodate you in every way possible. For example, all supplies are included so if you run out of toilet paper or luandry soap, you will be re-imbursed for re-stocking. If something is missing such as a hair dryer or beach towels, just buy it and leave it if you want to be re-imbursed. The owner is also very knowledgable about the area and had great recommendations such as Mama's Fish House, the Kihei Canoe Club outrigger ride (which is $25 donation, not free), Kihei Cafe, and Pacific Whale Foundation. He also provided very detailed, helpful instructions on everything about his unit and the Koa Resort. The property is very beautiful and we enjoyed the pool, ping pong, and grilling. Staff was very friendly and helpful. There is recycling on the property near garbage area and wireless in the cabana. Most of the owners at Koa Resort seem to live there, so not many units are rented out, which is nice. This was primarily an over 50 retired crowd, so they get up early but aren't that rowdy! The location is perfect to explore Maui--centrally located, very real, and out of the concrete and glass high-end resort area. Very easy to rent, learn about in advance, and enjoy once you make the trek to Maui. We would unequivocally recommend #105845 to friends and relatives and we cannot wait to return to this property. Mahalo!

3 Vacationing Couples Enjoyed This Property

Guest: Very satisfied customers! (New Mexico)
Date of Stay: 09/22/10 Review Submitted: 10/06/10

Our experience at this property was quite positive. The condo has everything you need, and the owner was particularly helpful during our stay. We found the beds quite comfortable. Even for three couples, there is plenty of room to spread out, with the living areas and the loft upstairs. The lanai is roomy and nice to sit out to enjoy the Maui mornings and evenings. We found it convenient to get to wherever we wanted to go on the island. We will strongly consider staying here again on our next visit to Maui!

Owner response:Our loft area upstairs is actually our master bedroom. There is a spiral staircase up to a large bedroom with a king size bed, a privacy screen with glass table and chair, ceiling fan, A/C, flat screen TV with DVD, private bathroom, and closet. This is the bedroom we use as owners when we are visiting our home. It is very private and comfortable.
