Dancing Aspen Cabin
- Minimum stay:2-4 nights
- Internet:Yes
- Pets allowed:No
- Wheel chair accessible:No
Beautiful log cabin nestled in the woods with dramatic views of Continental Divide (four-wheel drive a must in the winter). Private deck with large hot tub and gas grill. You'll marvel at the warmth your family/group feels around the river stone fireplace. Fourteen people can crowd around the handcrafted wood dining room table playing games while the cooks listen in from the gourmet kitchen. Every inch of this cabin was crafted by top rated finish carpenters. You'll marvel at the unique touches throughout. Each bathroom has its own Kohler fixtures (like a two-person jetted tub and old fashioned claw foot one) creating a distinct environment. The most frequent comment we hear from guests, 'Your pictures don't do it justice.' All manner of mountain sports are nearby. We're walking distance from the Arapaho National Forest and just a short drive to Winter Park Ski Area. A perfect setting for romance (we've had many small weddings) or family reunions and group get-togethers.

Our family (five adults, five kids) recently stayed in the Dancing Aspen cabin for a mini family reunion and we really had a wonderful time. The pictures of the cabin are accurate but really don't show how spacious it actually is inside. The cabin was very clean and was well-stocked with everything we needed (towels, dishes, appliances, etc). The hot tub was hot and ready to be used when we checked in, and we had no trouble using any of the cabin's amenities. We really appreciated all of the little touches that made the cabin family friendly, including a trunk full of board games, children's books on the shelves, DVDs to rent, and easy wi-fi access. We had five kids with us ranging in age from 2 to 12, and they were all really sad to leave at the end of our trip. The kids LOVED the unique pullman car beds and the adults really enjoyed the large tubs. I was also pleasantly surprised that the cabin had so many bathrooms (4), which was crucial for our large group. The setting for this cabin is really beautiful (only 10-15 minutes outside of town) and we had a lovely time relaxing together as a family. We have already talked about coming back to Dancing Aspen as an annual family tradition. Thanks for a really great trip!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers.

Dancing Aspen Cabin is a great place to stay. I happen to know the owner and spent ten days there--in July, so really can’t comment on snow conditions. My program was 1) do a bit of writing and 2) do a lot of mountain biking. This is the perfect spot for both, a peaceful retreat with no distractions except the awesome outdoors. Three of us spent our time writing in the mornings and riding in the afternoons. The log cabin itself has a lovely rough-hewn, handcrafted look. One simple morning pleasure is just having a cup of coffee and looking at the woodwork. The decoration is what I’d call Early American style--pillows, quilts, & comforters. Downstairs is mostly open space with a large dining room next to a smaller lounging area, separated from the kitchen by a counter. There’s wifi, a BBQ, deck with hot tub. We never used the stone fireplace--more fine construction--though we could have. Even in July Colorado nights can be chilly. This is not some remote location in the wilderness. Down the road are a couple of pleasant little towns, Fraser and Winter Park. Both are bike friendly, with rentals, repair shops, paths, and a culture respectful of two-wheeling. Resort areas bring tourists and seasonal workers so there’s more commercial development than is typical of smallish towns. Plenty of shops, cafes, restaurants, even entertainment. Winter Park offered a jazz festival and a couple of open-air concerts while we were there. If you’re a flatlander like me, remember that Colorado is not Kansas. It’s mountain country and the elevation here is 8500’ plus. After getting acclimated we worked up to 20+ miles a day. Serious riders won’t find that impressive but it’s way better than my average back home. (That hot tub helps ease the aches.) Most of the trails we rode had relatively forgiving grades. On our last day we took the Winter Park Resort ski lift up the mountain then biked back down. Down means down and the descent was challenging. If you’re worried about injuries, body armor is available for rent. At the very least wear long pants, NOT shorts like I did. After ten days I returned from the mountains a bit scraped up yet energized and feeling a sense of accomplishment. Definitely worth another visit.Recommended for: Age 55+, adventure seekers.

I have stayed here several times. I have enjoyed everything about it so much that we decided to get married there on the deck. It could not have been a better setting for our special day! Truly, Steve and Sherry took care of everything and accomodated our every wish. What a truly joyous occasion. I love to ski, and that was the reason for my first visit to the cabin. But going in July for this wedding was special as well. If you haven't gone here in the summer you should. There are a hundred things to do from hiking to golf, trout fishing, and touring the parks.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway, adventure seekers.

My family and friends have stayed at this awesome cabin on three seperate ocasions. The pictures and description of the place hardly do it justice. It is spacious and extremely comfortable. We always had large groups when we were there and the gourmet kitchen is fabulous for feeding larger numbers. Sitting in the hot tub, star gazing, after a long day on the slopes can only be described as "blissfull." I would highly, highly recommend The Dancing Aspen! Can't wait till we get to go back.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, pet owners, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, adventure seekers.

My family and I enjoyed seven fabulous days at this lovely rental. We loved the feel of the home. It was very comfortable and full of charm. The hot tub was very nice after the long days of skiing. The house is the perfect distance from town and it is surrounded by beautiful scenery. My wife and I have stayed at the Dancing Aspen several times, and are eager to go back. This is THE perfect cabin for staying with a group of family and friends in the Winter Park - Fraser area The location is idyllic... a quiet wooded setting with great mountain views, but still just a short drive to the shops and ski slopes at Winter Park. (Which are fantastic for mountain biking in the summer, btw.) You can take off from the cabin on snowshoes or nordic skis and quickly get into miles of open meadows with unmarked powder. Compared to some of the less-than-charming "condo" style rentals in the area, this one is a real find! I echo everything "SqueakyMom" said in her review... the huge kitchen, the hot tub, the easy-going staff and owners all make this spacious and friendly cabin delightfully special. We would recommend it in a heartbeat (and we have)!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, adventure seekers.

Wow, what a beautiful house, so roomy and just perfect for our needs. We had a big family vacation with 11 people (our Parents, my sister's family - husband and 3 children 7-15 yr, my family - husband and 2 children ages 2 and 5) and this house was perfect! Not only was it just beautiful being a log cabin, but it was so well stocked we just couldn't believe it. Gourmet Viking stove, tons of dishes, utensils, cooking stuff, spices - it was all arranged in a beautiful kitchen! Plenty of room to spread out and enjoy and each couple got their own room! The kids absolutely loved the pullman car beds with curtains they could close for privacy. Each space had a real full size mattress (which I had worried about before arriving but the kids said they were every comfortable)! Plenty of bathrooms, showers and tubs for all (shampoos/soaps kleenex in all the bathrooms!). They provided and set up a toddler bed for our 2 yr old. We couldn't have asked for more! An unexpected bonus, the caretakers live below in a basement apartment so they were available to give us access to the washer dryer and even loaned us a broom! They were super nice and friendly! The views of Co mountains and the forest were breathtaking (we saw owls, deer, chipmunks, hummingbirds and a woodpecker). The hot tub was a big hit with everyone and worked great. Plenty of linens, beautifully decorated, stocked with games, puzzles and dvds! I've never rented a house before, but this one sets the bar high for any place else I go! Can't say enough good things about it!! The beds were very comfortable! We spent the whole time oohing and ahhing over how great it was. Just minutes from town (Frazier) with nice Safeway grocery store and a great seafood restaurant down the road. Even closer to the Rodeo - a must see and fun evening. Very close to Winter Park and all the fun there! I hope to get back to stay at this house again some time! Would recommend this house to EVERYONE! The owners were super nice, easy to work with and available to ask questions through email or phone. If you are considering this house, rent it fast! You won't be disappointed. It's even better than the photos show!!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, adventure seekers.
