You have driven 20 minutes south of Tucson past the Desert Diamond Casino and arrived at Green Valley, the nationally acclaimed retirement and vacation community. If you would have stayed on I19 for 20 more minutes, you could have visited the famous artist community of Tubac, or you could chose to drive the 15 minutes it takes to enter Madera Canyon, one of the premier bird watching sights on the North American continent. As you arrive at your vacation retreat home, you glance to the east at the majestic Santa Rita Mountains.
As you enter your vacation retreat, your first impression is how the eight skylights give the home a light and airy feeling. Beyond the foyer you see the elegant dining table which will seat eight for entertaining. You enter the stylish great room with its ample and very comfortable seating. You envision sitting by the beehive fireplace on a cool evening listening to music on the CD, or watching one of your three TV's in the home. You continue out the sliding door to the patio. What a spacious and comfortable setting to entertain guests, cooking them dinner on your new gas grill. You look down to Canoa Hills Golf Course's ninth fairway. You might see golfers or coyotes, or some of the bobcats which live in the tree areas across the fairway. And at all times you are entertained by the chorus of birds in your palm trees or in the mesquites lining the fairway; music accentuated by the soothing sound of your patio water fountain.
You enter your master bedroom through the sliding door from the patio, and get your workout clothes from the walk-in closet. You stop at the den/office. This multipurpose room gets a lot of use watching TV, working at the computer desk, or even sleeping additional guests on the comfortable sleeper sofa, when there are more guests than just the guest room can accommodate.
Next you pass through the kitchen, which is very well provisioned, and can be used for casual dining in the bistro alcove. You enter the garage, which houses both of your cars, with ample room to spare, but choose to walk the short three blocks to the Canoa Hills Rec Center. Lots of workout choices: an Olympic sized pool, fully stocked exercise room, bocce ball courts, and the choices expand if you choose to go to one of the other 11 Centers that you have access to. Or, if you had gotten a little earlier start, you could have had a round of golf at one of Green Valley's five reasonably priced golf courses.
Oh yah, it's a great time in paradise.

This property is relaxing from the curved walk to the private entrance to the fountain bubbling on the back patio. The host and hostess welcomed us warmly and assured that every thing was in place for us from the moment we contacted them until we reluctantly packed the car to return to our 'real' life. They were also available to answer our questions about the community and what to do and see while we were there. Our favorite pasttime, though, was sitting in the chaise lounges, listening to the fountain, watching birds and golfers - and in between, we'd read a few paragraphs of our books!
Recommended for:Sightseeing, age 55+, romantic getaway.
