AMAZING VALUE

Date of Stay: 04/19/12 Review Submitted: 05/08/12

Kurt and I stayed in this unit with our grown children and grandaughter. This unit is GREAT and would be a great condo for two couples to share. There is a bedroom on each end of the unit giving totally privacy. The unit is so roomy and cheerful and THE VIEW IS AMAZING. The unit is clean and the swimming pool area is just beautiful. I take my coffee down each morning and sit at the pool and can watch dolphins spin!! I love it!! We will definitely book this unit again if we have more than 2 people. Glen and Ginny also have the 1 bedroom unit downstairs and we have stayed in that unit for many years. It is awesome also and located right across from the laundry room...Kona Shores is a complex that is very conveniently located to town. You can take morning walks in either direction and be feel the ALOHA.......Kurt and I will definitely rent the 2bedroom and/or the 1 bedroom again.

Loved it ! Well equipped, large unit with awesome Master Suite, four sliding door to the wraparound lanai ! Condo is quiet, Sunset views, central to shops and restaurants (10 min.walk)Pool beside the ocean is lovely, snorkel entry is right there, easy enough if the winds aren't too high. Would have loved to BBQ, (as Canadians, we like our propane)-briiquetes needed. Highlights of our trip were exploring the many snorkel sights and swimming with the turtles. Thanks Glen and Ginny and resident geckos. We will recommend this Kona Shores Condo to our friends for sure ! ps COSTCO has the cheapest gas - don't forget your card and SAFEWAY easiest for food and drink.

Lost in Paradise

Date of Stay: 02/02/12 Review Submitted: 04/23/12

This was our "third" visit to Kona Shores in this large spacious 2 bedroom 2 bath condo. This is the best unit in the entire complex. We were there for the entire month of February and found it to be ideal for two couples to share and still maintain a lot of privacy. Each bedroom is located far apart with their own en- suite batthroom. Both bedrooms have sliding glass doors that open onto the large wrap around balcony. There are an additional two more sliding doors from the living room that provide easy access to the lanai. Air conditioners are available but for the month of February ceilings are only required for a restful sleep. The glass table dinette on the lanai is perfect for a morning Kona coffee. You have a partial view of the ocean to admire as you sit and listen to the local songbirds (Red Cardinal, Northern cardinal, and Saffron finches) singing in the trees of the tropical garden just below you. The two parking spots very close to the unit and the coin operated laundry room is located on the main floor below you. The huge covered balcony provides lots of shade and it is an ideal place to do yoga in the morning or some acrylic painting in the afternoon. The pool is located directly on the ocean and this makes it ideal to whale watch, work on your sun tan, or just relax under a shady umbrella. The new flagstones and water fountain are a recent improvement.. The covered picnic area and BBQ section are positioned so you can enjoy a beautiful sunset. Charcoal is required but you can stroll right down to the ocean edge to watch the surf come up to the black lava rocky coastline. Recyling is available for aluminum cans, glass bottles and plastic containers. This place is like a second home to us and we prefer this style of accomadation over a resort hotel room. Located next door is Aloha Nails for the ladies and there is the Green Flash bistro for a morning brew or light lunch. Centrally located you are close to everything and this makes it an great place to use as an home base and explore the rest of the island. The maid service is very thorough and everything was found to be very clean and tidy upon our arrival. This place is great for a family of four, two couples, or as a romantic getaway for two. The master ensuite is very large and the rainwater shower head was very enjoyable. It's just a great place to relax, reflect and reconnect with the surrounding tropical beauty around you....Aloha from Chris & Shelley

Owner response:Shelley & Chris: Great review--thank you. You caught the wonderful ambiance of this unit and the BBQ and pool area. Glen

Best condo on Island!!

Beautiful condo, unique design, huge balcony and bathroom, very nice and quiet place, but close to all the beach and tourists attractions! We found inside all we need for living for the beach and more. Very clean and well maintained house. Great communication with owners, the maps and other information provided was very useful and sufficient to find all we need on Island. Definitely come again to the same place if vacation again in Hawaii. Thank you very much!

What a wonderful place to stay with a toddler. We have a 2 year old and wanted to stay in Kona, but not in the thick of Ali'i. This place had it all. A spacious wrap-around lanai, a master bedroom that was not smack next to the second bedroom, a large Jacuzzi tub, a kitchen that was well-stocked with pots, pans, and other utensils, and wonderfully cool A/C. The condo itself is about a 5 minute drive from the busy portion of Ali'i, so it's easy to get into the thick of things if you want, but you're not surrounded by it in case you need a break. Kona's many beaches are a short drive away. There are plenty of beach mats, umbrellas, and other items you'll need at the beach, meaning you don't have to get your own. Our daughter was thrilled with being able to run around on the lanai and check out the geckos that would frequently poke their heads over the rail. My wife and I cooked most of our meals and ate them on the lanai, enjoying the cool breeze. Basically, we couldn't have picked a better place. We'll rent this place again without hesitation.

Everything was as pictured and described. More spacious than we expected. We stayed for nine days. We had previously stayed five days with friends at a well known time share. Kona Shores was much more comfortable and relaxing. Well stocked with kitchen equipment and other things needed for a beach experience. The huge deck with view was a real bonus. Our trip was last minute due to a family situation and the owner worked with us to fit us in to available dates.

Another great visit to Kona

Date of Stay: 12/27/10 Review Submitted: 01/06/11

Just returned home from our *third* stay at the 2BR/2BA condo at Kona Shores. The condo is cool, quiet, clean, and attractive. Convenient parking and very spacious lanai with partial ocean view (see the photo). The kitchen, pantry, and closets are well stocked with everything my family needs during our visit, including beach towels, beach chairs, umbrellas, boogey boards, kids sand toys, etc. Also includes TV, DVD, boom box stereo, and wireless web access. The swimming pool overlooking the ocean is very nice and has recently been repaved with attractive stones and a fountain is being added. The condo is just about a mile south of the center of Kona and thus is out of the worst of the downtown congestion. Easy drive (or walk) to local beaches, restaurants, stores, and attractions. All of that is why my family keeps going back to Kona every other winter.

We spent our Christmas 2010 vacation in this condo and truly enjoyed it! There's lots of space and all the conveniences we wanted. We loved the local artwork on the walls. It's within easy walking distance of downtown Kailua. We were out sightseeing or snorkeling or shopping every day, but in the evenings we'd come back to the condo to cook a nice meal and relax for the night...

Best Stocked Condo in the Islands

We stayed for five nights and found ourselves discovering things avaiable to us every day. We used all the water & beach items...snorkel masks & flippers, boggie boards, water shoes, beach chairs & umbrellas, coolers, etc. The spacious accomodations were very clean and well maintained and everything you need is in either in a draw, a cabinet or a closet. We had not counted on saving so much money by using the things supplied in the condo. We loved sitting on the huge lanai intop the evening with our fu fu drinks watching the ocean and loving every second in Paradise. We will be back and we will recommend this condo to all our friends. Thank you for thinking of everything...all we needed to bring was our clothes.

Pam and I returned a few hours ago from Kona. We had a wonderful time and the condo was more than we could have hoped for. We would not hesitate to rent it again, or to recommend it to family and friends. In fact, we enjoyed it so much that we went the extra mile to ensure its cleanliness.

Thanks for another wonderful two week stay at your condo (#216). We arrived Nov 28/09 and were pleasantly surprised with all the "beach" amenities (more than we remembered). For the enjoyment of others, we added a couple of small items to the assortment of supplies when we left. This was our second stay at this condo, and we would definately love to stay here again on our next Hawaii trip. Thanks again.

We enjoyed our stay in your condo very much. Although we spent time in Waikiki afterwards, I enjoyed Kailua-Kona much more. The condo was comfortable and perfectly located. We paarticularly enjoyed the selection of books on the fish, birds and flowers of the big island. It was so nice to be ale to identify what we were seeing. This was my first visit to the state of Hawaii, but I hope it won't be my last. I would not hesitate to book your condo again if I ever have the chance to return to Kailua-Kona.

Greg and Ginny, I just wanted to thank you for letting us stay in your condo in Kailua-Kona. It exceeded our expectations; the condo came equipped with everything we needed for laying on the beach and travelling. We had a wonderful time on the island and appreciate all the maps and local info you gave us--it really came in handy. If we ever stay on the Big Island again we'll know who to call! Thanks.

Thank you so much for letting us rent your condos (Kona Shores #215 & #216) in Kona, Hawaii. This was by far the best vacation we have ever taken as a family, and by far the best accommodations we've ever had.

This will be our family's 5th visit in as many years to Glenn and Ginny's condo. We've been coming to Kona for 10 years now, but since finding their treasure we've looked no further. It's ideal for kids, there are boogie boards, masks, flippers, beach mats, chilly bins (I don't think American's call them this though), a heap of towels: beach and bathroom, the pool at the complex is lovely, especially being right on the water's edge. It's walking distance to town and the lanai is just wonderful. This is the BEST condo at Kona Shores and we will continue returning year after year! Jenny

Aloha from your condo--We've felt like "locals" as REAL residents rather than a "hotel tourist". It was a wonderful perspective & helped in "getting away from it all!" "Mahalo" for making sure that our stay was MOST enjoyable. We will NEVER forget this experience. We took all your advice in touring the island & got involved in a couple of local festivals.

#216 was like entering someone's home--not just any condo. What a place! It was so well laid out and inviting right from the start. The photos I had didn't do it true justice! Some neighbors later told us that we had the "Penthouse Suite" of Kona Shores! We swam at the pool every a.m. first thing, Lorranine enjoyed running down Alii while I made the coffee! --We also enjoyed the huge Lanai everyday and ate out there most times.

We really enjoyed your Condo. We were very pleasantly surprised to find out how spacious and well furnished it is. You thought of everything from 3 boogie boards(for 3 teen aged boys) to beach towels, ice chests and games. We sincerely enjoyed them all along with the beautiful sunrises & sunsets, geckos, birds & flowers.
