The La Jolla Haus is a private,clean two-bedroom,one-bath(+ outdoor hot/cold shower)cottage. Our guest house has a one-car attached garage(guaranteed parking)just a few feet from the front door for easy unloading and fast unpacking. The "haus" is a single level(no stairs)spacious 1100 square foot cottage with new porcelain tile floors through out. It is fully equipped with linens,beach chairs, washer and dryer and everything you need to prepare meals in the kitchen. The patio has a sunny southern exposure and is surrounded with tropical plants,a bubbling fountain,and comfortable inviting padded lounges. There are two outdoor dining areas, one covered with a new twinkle-lit pergola, the other under an patio umbrella, all nestled in a quiet residential neighborhood.
It is within walking distance to La Jolla's picturesque beaches and village attractions. You will be just two blocks from the Marine Street beach and only a short walk to the Sunday Farmers Market and the famous village which features a variety of stylish boutiques, world-class galleries, and fine restaurants.
Beyond La Jolla, the world-famous San Diego Zoo, Balboa Park, Sea World, historical downtown Gas Lamp District, and other attractions are just a short drive away. Or, just keep it simple... spend a day at the beach,pick up fresh fish from the local fish market,start the BBQ and then retreat to the comfort of La Jolla Haus for a relaxing evening at your home-away-from-home.

Why the Owner Chose Village of La Jolla
Living by the beach and raising their two children was a dream come true for these southern Californians. When their son went to college in 2000, they turned their yearly rental into a vacation rental and have had guests from around the world visit their "haus".
The Unique Benefits at this House
Besides having the owners there on the property to assist with any travel questions or details you might have, they are there to greet you and make you feel at home. They are ready to help with any special requests you might have to make your stay more enjoyable.
From La Jolla Haus to the beach is 500 walking steps. Between two oceanfront mansions is a public walkway to the sand.
La Jolla Elementary School every Sunday has a Farmer's Market from 9am-1pm. Fruits, vegetables, and many wonderful handmade items and giftware are available. Playground area for the kids and cooking all around for tasty treats. Voted the best in San Diego!
Located within walking distance is Sammy's Woodfire Pizza, Pescadero Fresh Fish Market, Ortega's Mexican Food and Marrakesh Restaurant. The local surf shop, Mitch's, and Chedi Thai Bistro are also located at this active intersection of the village.
Drug store located for any items you might have forgotten or need for your vacation stay.
Big chain grocery store with food items, Starbucks, juice bar, and bank all located inside. Across the street is Rubio's Taco Shop and Bernini's

The High School has a heated olympic size pool with hours for the public. They have hours of open play time and hours for lane swimming.
Fresh fish market to take home and BBQ or eat there. Wonderful fish sandwiches and soup,ceviche and smoked fish,all delicious.
Quick take out or eat there in your bathing suit. #44 is four chicken taquitos with quac. Yumm.
Wonderful food. Diane the owner and her husband take pride in all they serve. He makes the whimsical cookies in the window. Eat there or take home and reheat.
This community building on the Scripps Park entertains Bridge clubs, Weddings Receptions, Yoga Classes, etc.
This is the La Jolla Cove Beach. Many local swimmers take off from here and swim to the La Jolla Shores Beach. Many divers set off here and it is home to the La Jolla Fourth of July Fireworks display.

Bill and Diane have owned their home and their vacation rental since 1984. Diane is a native San Diegan, born and raised, and was a flight attendant for an airline based in San Diego for 15 years. She now is the full time manager for the rental and she and her husband live on the property.

We stayed here for 3 nights with our 2 year old twin daughters. The "Haus" was cozy, comfortable, and clean. Diane was warm and welcoming when we arrived, she made sure all our questions were answered. The kids loved walking around the beautifully decorated patio and exploring everything there. It is also conveniently located near restaurants and stores, as well as close to downtown San Diego and other attractions (Birch Aquarium, San Diego Zoo, Sea World). We would love to stay here again on our next trip to San Diego.

My family and I spent the Fourth of July week with Bill and Diane at their beautiful beach home and loved it. The experience was just like visiting with family. Bill and Diane have a wonderful home and think of everything to make your visit easy and enjoyable. We would definitely recommend staying at the "Haus" whether it's a weekend away for a couple or a longer stay with the kids!

This is a very cute place, comfortable within walking distance to the beaches and the village. Sunday the market at La Jolla Elementary was more than we could ask for-fresh produce, music, food, smoothies, hand made and art of all genres were for sale. Never being to California before, I drove from LA to La Jolla on the Pacific Coast Highway, it was beautiful. Everything you could ask for was at this place, welcoming owners and available when needed to answer any questions. The place was very clean and had everything. DVD's, Stereo, TV, Books, Games...All you needed was your clothes. Even the outdoor shower was fab. If you want an affordable way to see La Jolla and the San Diego Bay area this is the place to stay. I hope to return. You will not be disappointed.

I first came to the "Haus" about five years ago with my girlfriends on a week-long trip. I loved my experience then, so I came back this weekend with my husband, and we absolutely loved it! Pros: 1. Close to the beach (about five minute walk) 2. Very friendly management, warm hospitality 3. Walking distance to restaurants and GREAT shopping 4. A working kitchen with everything you need 5. CLEAN! CLEAN! CLEAN! 6. Wireless 7. Tons of clean towels and beach towels 8. Tons of books on NY Times Best Seller List (I had forgotten mine, and it was here!) 9. Beautiful outside patio and lounges (we had lunch outside and it was gorgeous) 10. Garage 11. Farmer's Market on Sunday Cons: There really weren't any. The lady who owned this place really goes out of her way to make you feel at home. It was like staying at a friend's house and that really added to the whole experience. The house was beautiful. The location was perfect. The price was just right. It was just perfect! I had a great time, and would definitely recommend it to anyone!

The owner thought of everything to make our stay so comfortable in this darling, inviting house that's walking distance to a great beach and the town center. Our family thoroughly enjoyed our recent 8-night stay at La Jolla Haus. We would highly recommend it! The entire house was exceptionally clean and well-maintained. It is clear that the owners, Diane and Bill, take great pride in maintaining their guest "haus." They are gracious, motivated and professional. With two young children, it was tremendously helpful to find that Diane had detailed information on the location of local restaurants, playgrounds and beaches ready and waiting our arrival. The location, a few blocks from the center of La Jolla, was perfect for our family. We could walk to the beach, shops, restaurants, and the playground. But my favorite part was the beautiful, private, patio that Diane has decorated with many tropical potted plants. With all the fantastic plants and a bubbling fountain, the patio felt like your own tropical retreat....especially during our visit in February when our own home was covered in snow! Thanks for providing such a terrific, clean, family guest house. We will be back.

The La Jolla Haus was great for our family of five. The place was very clean, comfortable and in a great location. The pictures and property descriptions don't do the place justice. Diane was great to work with and was there to make sure every aspect of our stay was wonderful. The kids had a great time with all the games and movies. I look forward to staying here again the next time we are in the San Diego area.

We truly enjoyed our stay at the La Jolla Haus...aside from the abundance of necessities as well as the extras, the special welcoming from the owners made it that much better. The pictures don't do the "haus" as much justice as it deserves. Our two children spent much of their time playing with the games and toys provided if we weren't on walks, bike rides or exploring La Jolla. We visited the amazing farmer's market nearby on Sunday, walked to local restaurants, enjoyed the plentiful shops and visited Burch Aquarium. The "haus" is perfectly located. We plan to return again as our stay wasn't quite long enough and we hope to take full advantage of the tropical patio.

My husband and two adult children spent the week at La Jolla "haus". We were very happy with our stay, as the "haus" offered both all the amenities of home and just the right things to make our vacation complete. Great location in the heart of many San Diego famous attractions, surfing, kayaking, shopping, restaurants, etc. I heard the best Sushi is found in California and I would agree it is the best I've had yet!! Diane and Bill were great and most personable and flexible to our needs. I couldn't have asked for a cleaner and most adorable place to stay. I would definitely recommend La Jolla "haus" as a vacation retreat and home away from home!!
