  Our family enjoyed the privelege of staying at the Rock Street Retreat for a memorable holiday. There were 11 of us, ages 73 to 5 and each one had something special to say about the experience. We often go different places for holidays and this is the first time everyone wants to go back. A truly great experience. The house is charming, the yard unbelieveable and every amenity is available.

  When I am looking for a quick getaway, somewhere not too far from my home in Dallas but far enough to feel like I have really "gotten away"...this is where I will come! New Braunfels, nestled in the TX Hll Country, offers the perfect escape with a little something for everyone. It's outdoorsy with plenty of nature to enjoy but there is also plenty of shopping and restaurants and night life nearby. I chose the Gruene Estate on the recommendation of a friend for a quick weekend girls' getaway. It was exactly what we were looking for. It's an old/historical home and has been outfitted and decorated accordingly. It was comfortable and provided all the interior space need for 4 moms and 2 infants. The beds were AMAZING...so comfortable and all the linens were fresh & soft. Heaven. The house was incredibly clean which I didn't expect from an older home...I walked around barefoot which I don't even do in my own house. The outside space is large with several areas for breakfast coffee under the giant tress or evening cocktails by the horseshoe pits. It was spring and perfect weather so we spent most of our time outside which was wonderful. The scene is pastoral and beautiful with TONS of deer to watch in the evenings and the resident longhorns & horses looming ever-present. It was relaxing, stress-free, comfortable, convenient, welcoming and entirely pleasant. I HIGHLY recommend GE for a weekend getaway with or without children. And while I haven't attended an event there, the space provided for weddings & parties looks incredible and I wouldn't hesitate to put it on my must-see list for those looking to host a wedding or event in the heart of the hill country.

  Got together with my best girlfriends for a fun and relaxing weekend at the Gruene Estate. It couldn't have been more perfect! The house was clean, comfortable and accomodating. I got two wonderful nights of sleep on a super comfy bed. The kitchen had everything we needed for semi prepared meals, and very close to town for eating out! The weather was perfect so we very much enjoyed all the outdoor sitting areas, especially when gazing out on the longhorns! I highly recommend this property, seems hard to beat for the location, size and comfort!

  Our stay at Gruene Estate could not have been better. We take a girls trip once a year, and have been to some really nice and exciting destinations, but never in the 12 years that we have been doing this, can I remember such an all-around fantastic experience. We arrived Friday afternoon to the gorgeous grounds of Gruene Estate, and it was IMMACULATE. Several of us commented that we usually prefer not to walk around sans shoes because of all the junk that gets on your feet, but Gruene Estate was so clean that we kicked off our shoes and made ourselves at home! The decor of the cottages, the multiple patios and porches, the pavilion, the beautiful wedding chapel - all of it is stunning! They have done such an amazing job of mixing Texas Hill Country ambiance with comfortably elegant decor. It feels as though you've entered a really high-end photo shoot for "the perfect weekend getaway", complete with grazing deer and Longhorns in a sprawling field of grass and wildflowers. We loved exploring the open-air chapel and all agreed that we wish we could get married again at Gruene Estate! The staff was courteous, friendly, and made it clear that they were available to accommodate any needs we might have without being pushy or TOO present. And to top it all off, that bed was probably the most comfortable one I have ever slept in. They obviously spared no expense on linens, pillows, etc. I would go back just for the sleep alone! Gruene Estate provides tons of activity options, yard games such as washers and horseshoes, beautiful grounds to walk, lots of nearby attractions - but we opted to stay in our pajamas and lounge on the porches all weekend. Maybe we'll be more motivated to be active next time! Either way, I highly recommend and will definitely be back!

  This place does not disappoint! I was initially concerned because it sits closer to the road than I realized but it's not a busy road and the entire property is well fenced so my concerns were quickly gone. We came with our pups and they had so much fun in the huge yard. The home is cozy, the beds are so comfy, and the kitchen is stocked with all utensils and cookware you could possibly need. The multiple seating areas were great for lots of people. We had campfires every night. The horseshoe pit was a huge hit with teenagers and the horse, deer and longhorns visiting every night was so cool. It's so close to everything you might want to do in New Braunfels. I would stay at this place again and again. It is very well maintained and the caretakers are very warm and friendly. This place is suitable for all ages and you will not regret staying there. I can't recommend it enough, we loved it!! Pictures do not do the property justice!

  My family and I truly enjoyed our experience at the Gruene Estates. The host were incredible friendly and accommodating. The location is great with easy access to Gruene and downtown New Braunsfels. This place is definitely a little piece of Texas history.

  The place is beautiful. A 150 year old home, perfectly upkept, decorated with antiques, and with all modernities added, sits on a large lot shaded by huge 200 year old oaks. Guadalupe River tubing and Gruene Historic District for shopping, dining, and great live music is five minutes away. – Jimbeaux, Monroe, LA

  We absolutely had a fabulous time, and your generosity in allowing us to stay throughout Saturday meant so much for our sister weekend. We would definitely stay there again. Our only complaint would be the train whistle! And unless you plan to become an engineer, I am sure you can’t control that ;).

  Beautiful old home to celebrate a holiday family reunion. We rented the sweet little cottage next door as well. A son rented ( for one night ) an open air shed turned into a little love nest. He didn't care for the all night trains but he enjoyed the outdoorsy feeling it provided. We had planned day trips into the surrounding area but enjoyed the property so much that we never left. Initially I was thrown off by the proximity of the owner and property caretakers but that turned out to be a blessing. Great care and service was provided. We will return again
