Northern Lights Condos is a privately owned and operated nine-unit condominium complex situated on the edge of the ocean on Grand Cayman's quiet north coast. The beauty and comfort of these units are only matched by their natural surroundings; 240 feet of sandy beach, a coral reef teeming with marine life only 75 feet from the shore, five of the island's most virgin dive sites within swimming distance, and a panoramic view of 10 miles of coastline.

The buildings are tucked away amongst the native palms, sea-grape and almond trees, which often provide a home for the Cayman parrot (a protected species). Each unit has a view of the ocean, pool, dock and cabana. The level of comfort and tranquility found at Northern Lights makes this the perfect place to perfect the art of "relaxation".

Owner's Map of Old Man

Hello,
My name is Bo Miller and I'd like to
welcome you to Northern Lights condos on Cayman's north-coast.
I am the developer of Nothern Lights condos. I designed, built and decorated the units in which you will enjoy your vacation.
I was born just 1 mile down the street in Old Man Bay where my great grandfather was one of the original settlers of the area 300+years ago. My father, grandfather and great grand father were all builders of both sailing vessels and homes. These boats were built on the Miller's beach (Jackey's bay). just a few hundred yards from Northern lights.
After a career in the financial services business I diversified and returned home to do a small development in the early 1990s. I live on property and it is my pleasure to greet my guests and explain the history, present and future plans of this area and the country. There are very few if any native Caymanians who are hosts in the tourism business today as the dynamics of labour have changed profoundly in the past 20 years.
I look forward to welcoming you and enjoying a conversation.

Awesome 10 days

Date of Stay: 07/26/11 Review Submitted: 08/12/11

Northern Lights is exactly what we were hoping it would be. Very laid back, no crowds, we were the only ones there for our first 7 days, and the condo is as described in the VRBO pictures. Bo, the owner, is a great host, fun and interesting to talk to, and available to help you out with any of your needs or questions. As others have mentioned, Bo can provide some great stories about growing up on the island, and how he sees it evolving in the future. Besides relaxing, one of our key interests in our vacation was snorkeling, and we were not disappointed. From the first day, hitting the reef right out the back door, we were impressed with the health of the reef and variety of life on it. Further snorkeling explorations around the island, including Cemetery Beach, Eden Rock, the Devil’s Grotto, the Wreck of the Cali, and the gotta-do Stingray City tour, were all great. We were lucky to have great weather and clear water our entire stay. For dinners out, we enjoyed Over the Edge for fresh seafood cooked Caribbean style, Kaibo for the Tues night all-you-can-eat BBQ, and Tukka for a little more extravagance. We even hit Vivine’s, which is a very local restaurant, attached to Vivine’s house/kitchen. Talk about authentic local food – just like mom would have made if she was Cayman. Wouldn’t recommend it for all, but if you want to try something a little of the wall, this is it. If you get a windy day, the Blow Holes is worth a stop. Alan, a local Obama look-alike, sets up shop across the street and can give you an informative tour of the blow-holes and surrounding area, for whatever amount you feel you want to tip him. I’m looking forward to the next time we can visit Grand Cayman, and we’ll definitely try to use Northern Lights as our home away from home.

Wonderful accomodations and hospitality found at Northern Lights Condo

Paradise awaits you in this cool, clean, well stocked gem located away from the hustle and bustle. The owner and housekeeper are just a phone call away if you need anything. Our family of four found this condo to be everything we had read about on VRBO. We will recommend this condo to friends and family. Thank you to the owner for your hospitality and for sharing your slice of paradise with us. :) Recommendations to those who stay at Northern Lights Condo- Over the Edge Restaurant, located in Old Man (about 5 min from the condo) has great food and friendly staff. Snorkeling in Georgetown at the Paradise Restaurant on S. Church St.- we spotted 4 foot Tarpon, an Octopus and gorgeous reef and reef fish in this spot.

Our goal is simple- to provide our guests with a real island experience on the last unspoiled part of Grand Cayman. The privacy and peace of this area is unmatched on the island and the interaction between the local Caymanians and our guests is mutually beneficial. Quiet, comfortable, great view, great snorkeling, great host. What more could you ask for?

Northern Lights is everything we had imagined. The view is beautiful morning, noon and night and personally I think our unit has the best view of all. The beds are comfortable and the sound of the ocean lulled us to sleep every night. The kitchen is very convenient and easy to clean up. The grounds are beautifully landscaped and well maintained. The snorkeling right off the dock was fantastic and as good as anywhere else on the Island that we snorkeled. When not dining out, we enjoyed eating every meal in the screened porch. During one breakfast we were entertained by the gardeners harvesting the coconuts a few feet away. You really need a car to take in all that Cayman has to offer. There is a perfect little grocery store 10 minutes down the road and a few other shops as well. We drove around Cayman several times and enjoyed great meals at the Portofino Wreckview Restaurant in Colliers, the Ristorante Pappagallo over in Conch Point and at Over the Edge in nearby Old Man Bay. We loved our two excursions with Red Sail Sports at Rum Point. On our trip to Stingray City there was a 93 year old lady who got into the water with the rest of us to experience the thrill of holding and feeding the stingrays. The highlight of our 17 year old daughter's trip was our Waverunner Safari. We each drove our own Waverunner over to and into a mangrove forest, visited a beach populated with huge colorful starfish and snorkeled at a beautiful coral garden. That same day we enjoyed a very tasty and relaxing lunch right on the beach at Rum Point. The Botanical Garden was beautiful but I was disappointed the orchids weren't in bloom. Bo is a perfect host for such a peaceful location away from the the busyness of Seven Mile Beach. We were amazed by some of his stories about what it was like growing up on the island and impressed by how successfully the island recovered from Ivan and flourishes today. Every Caymanian we met was friendly, gentle and eager to share their views on their beautiful "little rock". After 10 days of perfect weather, wonderfully fresh seafood, great snorkeling, and just enough diversions for us, we returned home well rested and happy. If we return to Grand Cayman we will definitely try to rent the exact same unit we enjoyed so much on this trip.
