Casa Puesta Del Sol is a modern custom built in Spanish Colonial style home perched on a hilltop in Ojo De Aqua surrounded by pastel color villas which some say is reminiscent of Florence, Italy. The casa accommodates up to 8 persons and has 3 baths. There are sweeping panoramic views of the city from daybreak to sunset into star studded evening skies over flickering city lights. The home is 2,400 sf or 260 meters.
This special home has an “old world" charm and all modern conveniences including: water purification system, radiant heat, 4 gas fireplaces (one on rooftop), custom kitchen w/oak cabinets and state of the art GE Profile stainless steel appliances, convection oven w/warmer drawer, wine captain, 6 burner gas cook top w/griddle, dishwasher, side by side refrig/freezer w/ice and water in the door and a Saeco cappuccino and espresso machine, There is a large double copper sink w/pull out water/spray faucet. For security an intercom system has been installed near front door w/2 phones one up and downstairs. The house has a local telephone and vonage, cable TV and WIFI internet access. There is off street pkg w/remote operated double doors.
The casa is tastefully decorated w/faux painted walls of various colors and textures and interesting details including soaring ceilings ranging from boveda to tile w/wood beamed and woven bamboo ceilings w/recessed lighting w/dimmer controls for atmosphere. There are two custom fountains and numerous plantings and gardens throughout the entrance and rear of the home and up onto the second floor balcony. There are twohand painted tile murals. The outdoors literally come into the villa through triple double atrium doors, a giant atrium entranceway w/fountain and huge palm tree and other large windows and skylights well placed throughout the villa. There is a large rooftop terrace with conversation area seating as well as dining area for 8 and 3 lounge chairs to “soak” up the pleasant san Miguel sun! The furniture, lamps, chandeliers, bedding, drapes and other window coverings have all been personally chosen and custom made locally. Some of the artwork and all of the photography is original and depicts beautiful local scenery.
There are two king mstr bedroom suites have w/romantic decor and fireplaces. They are located on the second floor of the home which have expansive views and including the rear garden and fountain. The king size beds have pillow top mattresses, rooms have soaring ceilings one king has a boveda ceiling bth cable tv/dvd players. There are ceiling fans w/lighting in each bedroom. The bathrooms are custom tiled and have artistic and interesting features including “waterfall” shower, faux clouds on ceiling and double hand painted sinks. There are more than ample built in closets in both bedrooms. The casa sleeps 4-8 persons comfortably w/guests having a sense of their “own” space. Special feature like boveda ceilings in the queen suite!
Between the two bedrooms there is a “salon” area w/double pull out couch, LCD TV and DVD player. There is an ipod docking station connected to the stereo TV so you can listen to all your favorite music also, vonage phone and wireless router. This is a perfect area for a couple or children.
You enter the casa through double antique doors accented from above by a stained glass “sunset” arc. The doors enter into the foyer that is a garden accented by a fountain and soaring 30’atrium which allows sunlight to stream in for the numerous plantings including a 20’ palm tree. The first floor bath is to the right and features a step in shower fully custom tiled w/matching sink. This serves the “studio” bedroom located on the first floor as well as any house guests. The “studio” is accessed through double arched doors which can be closed for privacy and used as a third bedroom or left “open” in order to serve as a media room for the first floor. This is ideal or physically challenged persons or children. The room has built in closets and cable tv/w/dvd player.
The large living room centers around a custom built stone gas fireplace w/leather couch and matching lounge chair seating. There are numerous large stone arches that give flow from room to room affording an “open airy” feeling. The round dining table has seating for 8 persons and rear wall has 3 sets of double atrium doors with sidelights and transoms literally bringing the outside garden and fountain inside the home. Atrium doors open to a bistro table shaded by a market umbrella with seating for 6 which allows for extra dinner guests. Or enjoy your coffee or margarita to the sound of the cascading fountain in the garden which include the fragrances of gardenia, lavender and jasmine or pick your limes and oranges for margaritas! The aromas from the garden come through the open windows of the villa. The oversized kitchen has cabinets and counters on three sides. There is a 6 burner cook top glass shelves with wine/champagne/margarita and cappuccino cups for morning coffee and entertaining. Off the kitchen through double doors is the washer/dryer and pantry area which leads out to a garden w/custom stone work which also acts as secure carport w/remote dbl doors to driveway area. There is a gas grill with easy access to the kitchen.
There is an atrium door on the second floor that leads up well lit steps to large rooftop w/expansive views in all directions. On a cool night you may want to light the gas fire pit located near the cushioned banquette conversation area w/built in seating for up to 12 persons.
Travel and Leisure Magazine August 2006 lists San Miguel as the 3rd BEST city to visit in South America, Mexico and Central America and San Miguel is named as one of the Top Ten destinations in the world by Conde Nast Traveler magazine. San Miguel accepted in Unesco World Heritage Centre 2008.

I enjoyed my stay at Puesta del Sol and would recomend it to everyone. From the moment I walked in I felt right at home. If you want to cook the kitchen has everything you'd need but I can not say I used it much because San Miguel offers so many food choices. I loved the master bedroom/ bath and the guest room is beautiful too. All in all this is a wonderful vacation rental.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

With many choices to choose from, WE LUCKED OUT!!! We had the best week. We went to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. I had visited San Miguel while in college, 27 years earlier and had always wanted to take my husband. The home is in mint condition with every amenity. No expenses were spared in the construction, design and furnishings. We were spoiled with maid and garderner service! The walk to El Centro was so pleasant, not any trouble at all, even with me recuperating from a back and nerve injury. Taxis are affordable and easily accessible to get back to the house. The rooftop patio is an added bonus with beautiful sunsets and views! Having a Vonage US phone and high speed internet was also a blessing. I spent a week in San Miguel earlier this month and stayed in this beautiful house. The most memorable thing about San Miguel was the gorgeous views from the rooftop. I was literally up in the rooftop every single day I was there, whether early in the morning, or around sunset, or while enjoying a glass of wine under the stars. The house itself is incredibly well designed. I always love houses with lots of natural light so I knew I'd like this house immediately. The colors are warm and fitting for Mexico and so are all the little decorative details. The rooms are spacious and the living area on the ground floor will easily accommodate a family or a group of friends traveling together. The kitchen is great as well. If you're looking to cook instead of eating out every night then this is the kitchen for you. There's also a little garden where you can choose to have brunch or of course the rooftop. I can't be effusive enough about the rooftop! San Miguel itself is a charming little town and the center of town is within walking distance. I'd recommend walking into town then taking a cab back since those hills can be quite a challenge. Spend your day exploring the multiple churches and staring at the wood and iron work of old homes or inside the different private galleries in town. For excursions outside of the city Guanajuato, another UNESCO heritage site is only an hour and 15 mins by bus. And the Canada de la Virgen, half an hour from San Miguel, is worth seeing. There's also the hot springs at La Gruta. For shopping I recommend stopping by at the Artisans Market. All in all my week at San Miguel was a wonderful one and Casa Puesta del Sol was a great house to stay at.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

My wife and I recently spent 3 weeks at Puesta Del Sol at the start of our extended stay in San Miguel and found it hard to leave when it was time to move on. We were enchanted with the unparalleled views from the rooftop, enamored with the kitchen facilities (having reverse osmosis treated water is so convenient too), and simply delighted with the light and space of the home. And then there were the staff, Jorge the gardener and Azucena the maid/cook-- they were so discreet yet personable and really catered to our personalities and needs as if we were long lost family friends. Sound too good to be true? It almost was. Of course, there is one other small "benefit" I should mention-- the hill leading up to the house provided mandatory exercise each day to help work off the calories of living the good life in SMA but you can cheat and simply catch a cab back home too). It's not often that a place delivers on everything it is represented to be, but this home certainly did, and provided us with a sensational start to our extended holiday.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

We sppent a long weekend at Puesta del Sol. The house was beautifully furnished and had a complete kitchen with everything we needed. We enjoyed the stay and would return again.Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway.

We stayed here for a week in January 2010. There were six of us, two couples and two teens. The house is as beautiful as it appears in the photos, even more so.. The setup is perfect for two couples-both get to have master suites with bathrooms. We were thrilled with the rooftop terrace and enjoyed it nightly. The house was spotlessly clean and the maid came while we were there. The real estate agent met us upon arrival and showed us everything about the house. She provided phone numbers and was available 24/7. San Miguel is a spectacular place to visit. Taxis are a phone call away, there is a big grocery store nearby. Visit the mercardo, downtown jardin, and enjoy the local foods. Owner is great to work with-no problems. Don't miss this house if you go to SMA. Hope to return next year.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

We stayed here for a week in January, 2010. The house is absolutely gorgeous. It is decorated to the "T" with true Mexican flavor and local treasures. I came home and had to have a copper sink like the one in the kitchen and several Lupita dolls like the ones used to decorate in the house.There were six of us and we were all very comfortable. The rooftop view is stunning, you can see the entire city. One of the best things about the house is that it has two master suites, so two couples can both be very comfortable. We were met by a local realtor who explained everything to us upon arrival. It was hard to go home! The atrium entrance is beautiful as well as the courtyard. No problems-great to deal with. We used a taxi to get about this spectacular city with no problems. House has all the amenities of home-we could even call home-don't miss it!!!!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

WOW-We spent almost 2 weeks in this wonderful home. We loved the roof top for the views of the city with the fire pit/ cozy seating, and dining. The out door garden area was another special spot for us. With the atrium doors opening from the living and dining rooms, we enjoyed our morning coffee. The kitchen has every thing we needed and more, from expresso machine to beautiful dishes. Full washer and dryer just off the kitchen area. There was no fighting over who would get the better bedroom because on the second floor was two wonderful master bedroom suites. We felt very safe in this area and did alot for walking. We walked to town/ the shops on the cobble stone streets and I took pictures of the "Doors of San Miguel", what fun I had. I could go on and on but want to thank the owner for opening this wonderful home to us. We will be back and can not think of any other place to stay but here.Did you find this review helpful? About the owner: Hello, my name is Lynn. I am the former owner of a very successful Commercial Real Estate Company in New Jersey which I recently sold. I have over 25 years of Commercial Real Estate experience and over 200 million dollars in personal sales. My expertise was in listing, contract negotiations, marketing and property development. I was all about business, however, I wanted to do something more creative and fun. Back in 1998 while traveling from Kauai I had a conversation with a woman who was in the high end home vacation rental business. She had homes all over the world and this intrigued me. I started to research information and bought my first property in Goodyear, Az., Estrella Mountain Ranch; it is a custom home with a pool and spa with great views and privacy! I went on and purchased Poipu Villa Vista in Kauai, Hawaii with ocean, golf course, mountain and crater views and an international vacation home in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, with a rooftop deck and views of the entire city. Our latest purchase was in Lake Como, New Jersey it is a seaside community just a half block from the lake and eight blocks from the ocean. Owning vacation properties gives me a chance to be creative in renovating and decorating these custom homes to correspond with thier locations. Our goal is to have the stay for our guests become a special and unique experience and create memories for them that they will cherish forever. Why the Owner Chose Ojo de Agua:
San Miguel de Allende is a very unique and quaint town. It's architecture is amazing with homes dating back to the 15th century when Spanish Conquistadors dominated the area. It is consistentley rated by assorted travel magazines as a "top must see" destination. It was accepted by Unesco World Heritage Centre in 2008.
The art and culture this area offers is incredible! The property has proximity to several hot spring locations and is near other popular destinations.

Location and views! This property is located in a neighborhood with other high end vacation and private homes. The veiws from all the rooms are just incredible! The rooftop terrace is huge and offers our guests incredible views and sitting area including a gas firepit! The dream kitchen has all high end appliances for our guests. The house also features gas fire places in the living room and both master suites. There is also a private walled in garden area with a fountain and tiled scene of san miguel in the backround!
