Where to start! My friend and I needed to get away and relax, and Beach Bum Inn was absolutely the most perfect place to take a break. The first thing I did upon arrival was jump in the hot tub. Everything was in working order and really well kept. The fireplace was cracking hot and quickly warmed up the whole cabin. Patti & Jim gave us the heads up that the fridge is a half size (additional space available in their personal garage fridge only if needed) and that the nearest full service grocery store was about a half hour drive away. We were right on the beach- nothing but sand and water in front of us. The big windows in the living room and bedroom meant that we were always looking at the water. The bed was very comfortable to the point where I literally melted into it! My friend said the sleeper sofa was plenty comfortable. I really cannot say enough about how much we enjoyed the quiet scenery and exquisite comfort. Could not have been any happier with our stay. Patti and Jim rock!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: So glad you two had a good time. We enjoyed having you here!

If you are looking for a place where you can decompress from the daily grind and rush go to the Beach Bum Inn. If you are looking for a high energy, fast paced envioronment, look elsewhere! Your cell phone won't work in Moclips, and you won't even think to turn on the TV because the 2 main windows of the apartment offer an unobstrictived panaramic view of the ocean, beach and dunes. The path to the beach starts from the patio and leads directly to a seemingly endless sandy beach. Careful where you step because there are more sanddollars on this beach then you can carry home in your sand pail!. You can ride bikes on the beach (it is a blast) build massive sand castles, have a fire, search for treasures and watch for sealife. The grill, hottub and fire pit are wonderful perks and the apartment is clean, so cozy and comfortable, with all the basic amineties you could need that you will not want to leave. Jim and Patti are terrific and will make you feel very welcome and ensure you have the peace, quite and privacy you are looking for. We have come 3 years in a row - LOVE IT SO MUCH! Can't wait to go back next year. Enjoy!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway.
Owner response: Having the two of you here is always welcome! Our repeat customers are a joy to have over and over again. We are remote, but if you have Verizon you do have cell service. Otherwise, you are best off going up to the top of the hill to make phone calls. But you are here to get away from it all, right? Even if you are not, we do have WiFi, TV, stereo and all the other electronics to keep you entertained. Although, you two truly know how to amuse yourselves here; sandcastles, bikes, fireworks, long beach walks and much more. Hope to see you again soon. Thanks, Jim and Patti

We loved staying here. Have used VRBO for our trips and this was one of our best experiences. The location was great. The quiet beach, the proximity to it with a private trail, the hot tub to climb into, afterwards and a firepit outside with wood provided. The shower outside to rinse off the beach sand was very helpful!! The size of the rental was perfect and had everything we needed. The rental is well represented in the pictures, except that they cannot do it justice.....we loved it and would return when we are next in the area!!!! The owners were very helpful, yet allowed for privacy and were just great. The house is less than an hour to Quinault lake/rainforest and Ruby Beach, both worth the drive, but frankly, we''d have been just fine going nowhere and hanging out there. You can hear the ocean with the windows open and the views are lovely. We had our 9 year old son with us and he had a great time just running back and forth to the beach and on the beach....He declared it was the BEST part of the trip and I'd have to agree. Worth the stay!!!!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: We so enjoy sharing the Beach Bum Inn with others. When they are suffering from the Texas heat, it is even better! Having been on this beach since I was a child, I really try to go the extra mile to have everything you will need to make your stay with us a memorable one. Seeing how much our guests are delighted with the Beach Bum Inn and how sad they are to leave is a pleasure. If you haven't made the trip to see us, what is keeping you? The Beach Bum Inn is a wonderful place to collect life long memories and wind down. Hope to see you soon!

We so much enjoyed the opportunity to once again roam the beaches, watch the breakers crash and relax in this wonderful seaside (its only 100 ft. away) condo. The most vigorous and relaxing times occurred doing the hot tub. The wind was gusting at 60 mph and 39 degrees chilly, with the snow blowing sideways while we read our books sitting in the covered hot tub. To get in and out was the challenge even tho the front door is a mere 5 feet away. A polar walk in the wind and then a soothing 104 degree hot tub to warm us back up. Then to the fireplace to watch the sun go down over the stormy seas. This place will turn anyone into a poet. Thank you for your warm and gracious hospitality. We will enjoy returning again.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, romantic getaway.
Owner response: Mel and Margie, We love having you two here. I am getting a kick out of the two of you enjoying the hot tub even in the snow. Jim and I look forward to your next visit. Patti

We just spent five nights at the Beach Bum and had a great time. The property is right on the beach and the ocean is just over the dunes. You'll love watching the sun set while relaxing in the hot tub....its a great way to end the day. The Inn is fully equipped and we enjoyed grilling steaks and salmon on the outdoor grill. In the summer we can only imagine how nice it would be to sit around the fire pit, watching the stars and listening to the waves crash on the shore (the nights were too cool in mid-October!) Your hosts, Patti and Jim are very friendly and helpful. Be sure to ask Patti about the local vegetable market and meat shop in Aberdeen. We bought all of our fresh food at these two locations and they are highly recommened. The Beach Bum is ideally situated for day trips into Olympic National Park as Ruby Beach, Kalaloch and Lake Quinault are just 60 minutes away. Forks, La Push and the Hoh Rain Forest can also be accessed from the Inn but it means getting going earlier and getting back later. Ocean Shores, Aberbeen and Westport also make interesting day trips and are within 90 minutes of the Beach Bum. If you want to see some other interesting beaches purchase a beach pass from the Quinault Indian Nation in Taholah and explore Point Grenville and the beaches to the south. For the really adventuresome plan on visiting Elephant Rock. This is way off the beaten path and is up a 7-8 mile very primitive and very rough road. Travel should be restricted to 4x4 vehicles. Take a saw and axe as you may have to chop a few trees down to clear the way! The views and scenery do make the trip worthwhile. All in all the Beach Bum Inn has a lot to offer and is great place to relax or use as a base for day trips. Its a very well equipped and clean vacation spot with miles of wide sandy beaches right outside the door. We will certainly be recommending the Inn to friends and family heading to the west coast of Washington State.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children.
Owner response: I am tickled that the two of you enjoyed your stay. It is always exciting to hear that our guests got out and really explored the area. We have so much to offer here in Moclips. Besides being right here on the beach with lots of beachcombing, kite flying, fishing, surfing, hottubbing, etc.,We have pristine forests (including the rain forest) to hike and explore. The Quinault Indian Nation, just north of us, has some of the most beautiful beaches on the West Coast; with huge rock formations and tide pools. You can venture farther north too and be in Forks with the Vampires or out at LaPush or Lake Ozette. All incredibly beautiful country! Thanks again for choosing the Beach Bum Inn. We enjoyed having you here.

3 nights was too short a time to fully enjoy this fantastic place. Thank you for such a special, cozy beach house to relax in. Fantastic views, a sheltered hot tub to watch the clouds and moon go by, spacious living room, a complete kitchen, and the beach 100 feet away to walk on, made our long weekend one of our most memorable, relaxing, and inspiring visits to the ocean. We will have to enjoy this place again in the future. Thanks so much!Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, romantic getaway.
Owner response: Nothing makes us happier than to know that our guests enjoyed their stay here on the beach in Moclips. When you have such a treasure as living on the beach, it only makes it better to be able to share it with others. We too spent many years working and raising a family in the city. When we made our visits to the ocean here at Moclips it gave our lives new wings! I hope it does the same for our guests.

Having visited for a 3-day weekend in February, the Beach Bum Inn was the first place that came to mind when we wanted to get away for an entire week. The listing is accurate to the last detail about all the amenities. The property was clean and ready upon our arrival, and the owners are so gracious and accommodating. Not only WOULD I recommend this property to friends, I HAVE, and continue to recommend it to everyone I know; friends, family, and business associates alike. The quiet cozy location is within reasonable driving distance to resort attractions, but distant enough to be away from tourist traffic. It is safe to say that we plan on returning over and over again! Dan & JoyRecommended for: Age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

We absolutely loved our stay at the Beach Bum Inn. The accomodations are very clean, comfortable and thoughtfully layed out. And with the easy access to the beach (right off the patio) it made for a perfect weekend. All the windows hold expansive and unobstructed views of the ocean. Patti and Jim are terrific hosts and a wealth of information about the area. We rode our bikes on the beach at low tide - very fun. If you like beachcombing - this is the ideal location - it is at a premium in this area! We made good use of the grill, the hottub and firepit and stack of kindling - the stargazing was even better than the beach combing! It was so peaceful, relaxing and beautiful. We are already planning our visit for next summer. Steve & Anne Maria - SeattleRecommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

We have stayed at a lot of beach front properties and the Beach Bum Inn is now at the top of our list. The pictures do not do this place justice. It is clean, quaint and comfortable. Jim and Patty are exceptional hosts ... very considerate of your privacy but also extremely hospitable. We can't say enough good things about our stay. If you are looking for a relaxing and inviting beach getaway, this is the place.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

Owner info
About the owner: We moved to the beach from Federal Way when we were in our 40's and the next thing we knew we are in our 60's! Time flies when you're having fun. I have been coming to this beautiful ocean location since I was a little girl and due to our careers, we were able to make our dream come true of living here after our children were raised. We built our guest apartment and home next door to my family's cabin. Living here with the ocean right in front of us has been amazing. The wonderful guests we have had only make it richer.
The Unique Benefits at this Apartment:
Waking up to the pristine ocean with eagles, seagulls, pelicans, deer, fishing boats and activities on the beach with a cup of coffee will fill up your senses. Lounge in the living room, on the patio or in the hot tub or take a beach walk and enjoy the outdoor heated shower when you come off the beach. Walk to the nearby town of Pacific Beach for an espresso and shopping, head north to the Moclips River or head east to the unspoiled forests. Did I mention the incredible winter storms?
