Welcome to the Galveston Victorian House, a full service luxury rental in the heart of Galveston's East End Historic District! All the comforts of a B&B but with complete privacy and much more space.
Ornately constructed 135 years ago, the house survived the Great Storm of 1900 as well as Hurricane Ike. Original hardwood floors from 1871 remain upstairs, and it is beautifully appointed with comfortable period compatible furnishings throughout to make your stay feel both timeless and memorable!
We are situated in the middle of the charming East End National Historic District and placed on one of the most architecturally significant and visually pleasing streets in Galveston. Ball Street is often visited by horse-drawn carriages whose tours are conducted by local guides.
Tastefully landscaped with colorful flowers and plants, the front lawn is well manicured while the back deck is surrounded by a fountain and gardens. The house itself has over 1,800 sq. ft. which include 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, a living room, dining room and kitchen. The TV/sitting room is convertible to a third bedroom (with a new queen sleeper sofa + additional 2" memory foam)to accommodate an additional 2 guests for a total of 6 guests. Another full bath with deep tub (and shower) is adjacent to the TV/sitting room.
A well lit "Great Room" has two large plush sofas and fine period compatible furniture making it perfect for relaxation and entertainment. The dining room is part of the living/dining area and features a Queen Anne table with six chairs, an additional leaf and padding. A china cabinet, side board, and bureau full of linen tablecloths and napkins is near the dining table. A silver tea and coffee service is also included. Wonderful art is present throughout the house and adds immeasurable pleasure to all guests.
A spacious, cheery kitchen has been completely remodeled with Thomasville cabinets and granite counter tops. There are two sets of china (8 place settings each). The silverware is a silver plated service for 12. Our kitchen is well stocked - we supply quality pots and pans, a Cuisinart food processor, electric knife, electric ice cream maker, toaster, microwave, coffee maker and electric coffee grinder. A host of different coffees, teas, spices, filters, paper towels, dishwasher detergent and other sundry items have been added for your convenience. The kitchen table comfortably seats four adults.
There are 2 gorgeous full bedrooms upstairs, each with queen-sized beds and a large bathroom with another deep tub (with shower).
We have a book about the house and the neighborhood that includes a guide to favorite shops, restaurants, attractions, walking tours and beaches with directions and recommendations. The East End is absolutely charming and you will love to walk in the evenings and mornings to look at all the wonderful historic homes in our neighborhood. It's magical!

Galveston Victorian House - Only 8 Short Blocks to Beach!
Year Purchased: 2006
Why the Owner Chose East End Historic District
If you love the beach, island magic, beautiful historical homes, long walks and sultry evenings, you will love visiting Galveston and love staying at the house. Galveston is the perfect sized town, easy to get around, so much to do, and yet so relaxing. Your eyes never get tired of taking in the historic sites and beautiful homes. Our home is right in the center of it all - 5 minutes to downtown, 3 minutes to the beach, restaurants and shops just around the corner. We can walk almost anywhere.
The Unique Benefits at this House
That first cup of coffee and morning newspaper on the back porch, taking the dog for a long morning walk to the Gulf; walking to pick up pastries from the best local bakery in Texas; elegant small parties in the spring; long conversations late into the evening on the back deck with the magic of those island breezes swaying the trees in the background, and sleeping in such a quiet historic home on the most comfortable beds in America.
The most historically significant home on the island. Tours available on the hour.
We think this is the best Mexican restaurant in the state!
Owner's Map of East End Historic District
We absolutely adore our Victorian home and use it every opportunity we have. We vacationed in Galveston for many years prior to buying the home in 2006, and bought it because it represents our vision of historic Galveston. We never get tired of having our family reunions there and many other families and wedding parties seek us out for the same reason.

Galveston gem

We've stayed at the house twice now, once for Thanksgiving and once for July 4. Both times were wonderful. House is well-appointed, convenient, comfortable, with charming historic details. Owner Elizabeth is gracious, thoughtful hostess. Our children (ages 7, 11, 14) think of it as their personal beach house now, though I'm thrilled it's a lot more than just a beach house. Within walking distance to all sorts of interesting historical sites, convenient to downtown dining on the Strand, and landscaped backyard to enjoy the ocean breezes. Washer/dryer a wonderful asset when you're spending so much time in sand and surf, and the kitchen has everything you need to make and serve all meals. Even Thanksgiving dinner--china, crystal, the works! Thank you, Elizabeth, for sharing your wonderful Galveston gem. We will be back!

Well, it’s a cliché, but “home is where the heart is,” and your home captured our hearts this Christmas. From early morning jogs along the Seawall, to Christmas Eve dinner at Guido’s, we truly enjoyed our stay. Highlights: Benno’s gumbo, the Elissa, the Bishop’s Palace, horse drawn carriage, carollers and Dad’s potato soup with foccaccia from Sunflower Bakery. Thank you!!

You have done an amazing job of making your Victorian house a home for all....it feels so intimate and looks so inviting, lovely, and classic. Your talent is remarkable, for your taste with furnishings, decor, and colors could not be more perfect. We know the energy and dedication it has taken to renovate after Ike. Thank you so much for sharing your romantic home on the coast.

This house was perfect! We had family stay with us for our son's wedding and we all found it comfortable and well equipped. It's so convenient to everything - liked it so much more than the West End. We had a BBQ Party here the night before the wedding and had a great time. We even stayed an extra day!
