Enjoy your own bit of Paradise in the lovely Smoky Mountains on the Western edge of North Carolina with lots of cool fresh air and complete privacy. The house was tastefully designed and built by the owners 3 years ago. The furnishings are new and were chosen for comfort and entertaining guests. Eat all meals on your own deck, outdoors, under a canopy of majestic trees infused with the song of birds. You can purchase all your necessities in Franklin or for a change of pace, visit the posh restaurants and unique boutiques in Highlands. Both are just a few miles down the road.
If you are a motorcycle enthusiast, then you'll love driving your cycle over the many miles of scenic and winding roads that transverse this area - just minutes from the house.
For all water sports, "Lake Glenville" is close by, and within an hour's drive, you may visit the famous "Blue Ridge" mountains or "The Smoky Mountain National Park" and Cherokee Resort.
Our home sits on a 2 acre wooded parcel seated for enjoyment of the full mountain range. Elevation is above 3400 feet. Once the sun sets and night begins to whisper cooler breezes, move indoors and enjoy a comfortable leather couch and recliners in front of a cozy, gas-heated fireplace. The chances are that you will not want to leave, but you are always welcomed back. "Caide Mille Failte," Gaelic meaning one hundred thousand welcomes.

Why the Owner Chose Franklin
The Appalachian mountains are mesmerizing, and each day/season paints a new landscape. We could spend hours sitting on the balcony watching the wisps of clouds circle around the hills. The hiking trails are endless, and just when we think we've seen it all, someone directs us to a new site. The four seasons are played out by script here, each one being just as beautiful as the next. We have done considerable traveling, but coming home to the "Smokies" is by far the best.
The Unique Benefits at this House
We like to hike and motor around on our BMW motorcycle. The weather is suitable most of the year, and the winding roads are a biker's paradise. Glenville Lake is a short drive away where we like to canoe/kayak, exploring all the nooks. Mike likes to do fly fishing, and has discovered some good fishing holes.
Sometimes we just take a picnic lunch and hike to a look off where we sit and bask in the Nantahala sun.
But best of all, we like to relax and unwind in the privacy of our balcony overlooking hills.
Here you can launch a boat or rent a boat or canoe. About a five mile drive up Walnut Creek Rd. which turns into Pine Creek Rd when you enter Jackson Co. Turn left onto Walnut Creek Road at the end o
Beautiful town at the end of a scenic drive on Rte 64. Fine dining and unique boutiques. Turn left onto Rte. 64 (highlands Rd) You will twist and turn through the Nantahala forest and pass many sites
Town for supplies and shopping, movie theater, gem museums, antiques and dining. "Stomping on the Square" every Saturday night during the summer.
Owner's Map of Franklin
Mike and I(Nan) were both city-grown, but moved to the country shortly after our marriage. We owned and operated a modern dairy farm for 25 years where we raised beef cattle, pigs, chickens, turkeys, vegetables, and most importantly, our four children.
Later we both embarked on new careers: Mike ventured into construction and Nan into teaching high school science. Our house in the mountains was designed and built by us with a great deal of help from our children, so all attention was focused on comfort and family enjoyment.
