This cabin is located on the most pristine and beautiful lake in Northern Minnesota. Bluewater Lake is one of the few Clearwater lakes in the area. Located 15 miles North of Grand Rapids, Bluewater borders the Chippewa National Forest. Bluewater is an aqua marine colored lake with a depth of 120 feet. It is a vista of beauty that is one quarter of a mile wide and one and one half miles long.
Crystal clear Bluewater Lake is on the end of a chain of five lakes. During your stay, make plans to pack a picnic lunch for your loved ones before you take a leisurely day trip through the breathtakingly beautiful chain-of-lakes. On the meandering trip you will pass by Beaumont’s Island;the father on Leave It To Beaver owned this island. On your trip keep a keen eye out for Eagles, Loons, Ducks, and Beavers you may even see a Moose! Take your picnic lunch to the remains of a Land Baron’s Estate (now a part of the Chippewa Forest). This is where it is said the Who’s Who of Society were flown in by sea plane and wined and dined.
Imagine, in your mind, going back in time to the 1920’s and 1930’s, to a place where you are mingling with the Rockefellers, Kennedys, and Vanderbilts, on the infamous Joyce Estate. You can reach the estate by boat or by land, if you choose to hike there (approximately six miles there and back). Bluewater Lake is an Environmentalist’s dream that has been preserved with deliberate care. Access to the cabin is deep into the back woods of northern Minnesota. Wildlife abounds. As you casually make your way down the back roads, keep a close eye out for deer and other wildlife. Access to the cabin is over a rustic, wooden bridge that was first built in the early 1900’s. Enjoy your peaceful stay ... it is one you will not soon forget.
Please note : Boating and fishing are the main attractions at Bluewater Lake. Bluewater and its sister chain of lakes boasts the best Walleye, Northern, Bass, Trout, Crappie, Perch and Sunfish fishing in the area. You can even fish off of the dock for the sheer relaxation of it! There are also golf courses nearby for the avid golfer. In addition, there are great restaurants in the town of Grand Rapids or you can just grab a laid back meal at the Wilderness Pub, only five short minutes away. If you’d like to spend a day in town sightseeing, you can visit Judy Garland’s (Dorothy, in the Wizard of Oz) birthplace and museum. Grand Rapids also hosts the Judy Garland Festival each year, where you will have a chance to see some of the original Munchkins. For a little different twist you can visit Blandon Paper Mill. They offer daily tours of their facility. You can also visit the Forest History Center for a trip back in time. Best of all, if you would just like some R&R the Bluewater cabin is the place to be.
