INTRODUCTION AND HISTORY: The first document regarding the convent dates back to August 1400. From the 15th century onwards, the convent has had mixed fortunes that have seen it depopulated during the Napoleonic repressions of 1798 and 1860 bent on eliminating the monasteries in Umbria and Le Marche and transferring their possessions, including the convents, to the state.

It was not until 1877, thanks to the Prior of Preggio, Don Luigi Vecchi, that the convent was redeemed and became once more a place of worship. During the 20th century, it gradually fell into a state of neglect until it was bought by a group of people who carefully renovated it and restored it to its former splendor.

Today the Antico Convento is a splendid place where art, mysticism and culture combined with the romantic atmosphere, antique furniture and ultramodern accessories have turned it into one of the most fascinating and unique properties of central Italy. The property is in 17 acres of parkland and is divided into two main parts. Moreover you’ll find a consecrated church and a fitness centre with Turkish bath, sauna and Jacuzzi tub, swimming pool and a fascinatingly romantic glass apartment.

PARK: fifteen acres of parkland divided into large garden area, olive groves, vineyard, all well kept in perfect condition by a gardener under the direction of the owner. Besides the swimming pool there is an enchanting long and narrow pool, flowing from the woods to the convent, as if it were a water path leading from nature to religion.

SWIMMING POOL AND FITNESS AREA: there are two pools, a fully equipped outdoor pool open from April 28th to October 6th, 20 x 9 sqm with maximum depth 2,4 m, on a higher level in respect to the convent, and an indoor circular Jacuzzi tub (diameter 4 m) as well as a sauna and a Turkish bath in the fitness area on the ground floor of the second house which also has separate bathrooms and dressing rooms for men and women.

BUILDINGS AND INTERIOR LAYOUT: the property is composed of three parts, the convent itself and an independent farmhouse very close by, for a total area of about 1500 square meters. The main part is reached through a beautiful water garden located inside the cloister leading to the church of the convent and to the main house. The house is divided into the main residence and five independent apartments, tea room, bar and various other areas. The three-story main residence is accessed from the cloister and from the large back lawn.

The ground floor is composed of a beautiful living room which leads to the kitchen, dining room and bathroom. An internal staircase leads up to the first floor with a double bedroom with bathroom and wardrobe room, one children room with four beds and another bathroom. On the same floor, but on the opposite site, there is another double mansard bedroom with bathroom, a kitchen corner and a living room. A characteristic staircase leads from this floor to the second floor composed of a suite with double bed, bathroom and small cooking area. A laundry room is located in the basement.

In the same building, but with separate entrances from the cloister and the reception area, there are five apartments. The two-floor apartment Gabriella is composed of kitchen corner, living room, double bed room and bathroom. The other four apartments, (all with women’s name) are composed of living room, kitchen, double bedroom and bathroom. An area used as tea room and bar is inside the main house which looks on to the garden and terraces where guests can relax during warm evenings and enjoy the beautiful view of the surrounding countryside and the Trasimeno Lake.

The two-story independent farmhouse is about 50 metres from the main house and convent. The fitness centre takes up most of the ground floor and there is a large, 100 sq. mm two-floor multi-purpose room which can be used as a meeting or events centre.
