This was an amazing experience. This house was perfect - huge, with a lot of room and beds, amazing kitchen, great sound system, hot tubs, & lots of space for lounging around. The location was perfect, very close Squaw and Alpine and easy to park at as well. The owner of the rental was very friendly and helpful - easy to do business with. I'd gladly rent this place again!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

My company has rented this lodge twice in the last two years. The house is beautiful and spacious, and we particularly appreciated the two hot tubs. We will be coming back next year, and I couldn't recommend this place more.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with young children, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing, age 55+.

The main lodge is incredibly spacious with lots of beautiful art decorating the walls. Lots of space for sleeping and entertaining. The kitchen is huge and was able to accommodate meals for our large group. The hot tub is amazing...nestled outside on it's own deck with a view of the mountains. To top it off, it's just minutes from Squaw Valley Ski Resort. It's a perfect getaway for a group retreat.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with young children, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thanks Mike, nice meeting you -- Glad Mitchell Manor worked out so well for your re-union. See you next year.

We recently rented just the main house for a group of 14 people. Yes, that's right, the main house sleeps 14 comfortably (more would be a little cramped--I recommend getting both houses for larger groups). Including the 2 pull-out sofas, everyone had a bed. For our group, there was no need for additional air mattresses, sleeping bags, etc. Adequate parking. Great bathrooms. The house is located just outside Squaw Valley Village/Resort on Squaw Valley road, and the eastern slopes of Squaw can be seen from the house. Directly across the street is the valley, bordered by an excellent running/biking trail which parallels Squaw Valley Road. My wife, not much into snow sports, made frequent use of this trail for her daily runs and dog walks. We stayed over President's Day Weekend and the privacy of the house allowed for a nice break from the crowded resort(s). The location is perfect for groups looking to visit several ski resorts and other area attractions. We skied/snowboarded at Squaw Valley, Northstar, and Homewood Resorts (Drives: 2 min, 20 min, 20 min, respectively). The house also accommodates the non-skiers with the cozy and comfortable living room w/ large windows, gas fireplace (easy!, no firewood or maintenance necessary), great couches. Perfect for lounging and reading a book while the others are on the slopes. The house design and layout is unique, open, but ultimately cozy and comfortable. The hydraulic heating system makes getting out of bed in the morning a pleasure--despite snow everywhere outside, the heating system keeps the floors nice and warm. Both the upper deck hot-tub and master suite Jacuzzi tub were perfect for relaxing after a hard day on the slopes. Cooking for the large group was a breeze in the open kitchen, and the big gas grill was used heavily during our stay. Plenty of kitchen utensils, dishes, and cookware--even a fancy Krups coffee/espresso machine. Oh, and I never thought having 2 dishwashers would be so handy. Can't say enough good things about this property, our particular trip, AND the owner Steve. Steve was very easy to work with; from initial booking, to our departure, communication and interaction with Steve was excellent. The only thing we didn't like was that we couldn't stay longer. Potential renters LOOK NO FURTHER, this is the house you want if you are staying in the North Lake Tahoe area. If you don't believe me, check out all the other 5 star reviews!Recommended for: Pet owners, adventure seekers, families with young children, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+.

I rented out this beautiful house for my friends birthday, and let me tell you, it was PERFECT. The house is absolutely stunning and spacious enough to fit our large group of 20, extremely comfortably. The guest house and main house both have kitchens, bedrooms and bathrooms so if you take up the whole house, everyone will be happy and comfortable. Did I also mention there are two hot tubs? They both sit up on two different balconies and this feature was really amazing, especially after a day of skiing. The location is impeccable since it sits about a 8-10 minute drive from Squaw, maybe quicker in the summer season. You have restaurants, shopping and other activities within a 10-20 minute drive from the house and I would recommend this rental to any party large or small. The owner of the house really tops it off as he was so nice and a pleasure to rent from. Conclusion: House = Beautiful, Location = Perfect, Comfort/Homey Vibe = YES.Recommended for: Pet owners, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, families with young children, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+.
Owner response: Hi Kat, Thank you for your kind words- glad a good time was had by all. Just a minor correction: it's only a 2 mins to the resort and about 10 to Tahoe City. Hope we can be of service for your next Bday bash ;-)

Wow, we had an excellent Experiance at Squaw, the house and especially Steve. Thanks for a wonderful weekend. Everyone loved the place. Short drive to everything. Even 7/11 is down the street. We will definitely rent again. This was our first time renting a house instead of hotel and it will not be our last. The master bedroom's hot tub was just as relaxing as the jacuzzi upstairs.Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+.

A group of 10 friends and I stayed in the guest house while we were in Tahoe for the Tough Mudder competition. Steve was so kind and made sure we had everything we needed (even the things we had forgotten to bring ourselves)! What we enjoyed must were the spectacular views, the hot tub on the deck, and the fire pit out back. There was so much room that even in the guest house we didn't feel crammed (which is saying a lot coming from a group of muddy twenty year olds)! This house is really perfect for a weekend getaway and we felt so lucky to be able to make it our home away from home during the Tough Mudder weekend. Loved Steve! Loved the house! Couldn't have asked for a better experience!Recommended for: Pet owners, adventure seekers, girls getaway.

We recently stayed in this house for a weekend birthday celebration for my husband. We had a great time and I highly recommend this house for large groups. We were a group of 20 adults and rented both the main and guest houses. The houses are extremely comfortable and it is nice to have extra space with the two kitchens and two hot tubs. The location can’t be beat. It is a short (less than 5 minute) drive to Squaw which was nice because our group was split between skiers and non-skiiers and this location allowed us all to meet up for happy hour in the Village at the end of the day. Steve is very professional and easy to work with. He answered all of our pre-stay questions and afterwards got the security deposit back to us quickly. I hope to have another opportunity to stay here!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, tourists without a car, families with young children, families with teenagers, girls getaway, age 55+.

We recently stayed in this home and had a wonderful week. The accommodations were very nice, comfortable, and the listing and photos are accurate. The property was clean and nicely maintained and the owner addressed the few issues we did have in a very timely fashion. There were 12 adults and 11 children, ages ranging from 9 months to 12 years. There was plenty of room for everyone to sleep, eat, play, rest, etc. I would definitely recommend this home to a friend or relative.Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers.
Owner response: Thanks Guys, It was nice meeting the whole family. Next time we'll take you on the boat for a cruise on Lake Tahoe.

This property is absolutely gorgeous! I came up with a large group for a birthday celebration and it was perfect. Everyone had their own space, which was great and the common areas are fantastic for hanging out. Great location for skiing at squaw. Steve was great to deal with, which made it that much more of an enjoyable experience. We will most definitely be back.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: Thanks Camile, glad all had a great time, and you are always welcome back. What an amazing winter...And this summer we will have a power boat available to renters as well...hope to see you up in Tahoe Again soon.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2006
About the owner: Mitchell Manor was designed and build by Steve Mitchell an adventure travel cinematographer for PBS, Travel, and NBC. The property and furnishings reflect an international flaire, from Africa to Thailand to Australia.
Why the Owner Chose Squaw Valley (Olympic Valley):
This property is very unique in that is two house connected at the hip. This allows large groups to settle in and still have the elbow room to disperse into intimate spaces. The two houses integrate seemlessly, but also provide noise and visual privacy.
The Unique Benefits at this Chalet:
Close to Both Truckee and Lake Tahoe: Squaw Valley USA has it's own recreation and night life. In winter, the avalanche control bombs summon you up early to enjoy a fresh dump of Tahoe Powder. The bustling energy of Tahoe's best ski resort is contrasted by the calm serenity of summertime....But the Village at Squaw is always hosting Music, Brewfests, and other events to keep it fun and interesting for all.
