This vintage home has six bedrooms on the second floor and sleeps up to 12 people. Large eat in kitchen with two seating areas. There is a half bath off the kitchen, and a bathroom with a tub on the second floor. The walk out lower level has a newer bath with shower and laundry. You may swim from the property or enjoy the community float a few houses away. Bring your canoes, row boats, kayaks, flippers, mask and snorkel and get ready for a fabulous vacation

The house is situated up high, some of us (older folks)simply enjoy sitting on the deck to talk and talk and talk while watching the activities on the river.Other guests might swim, kayak or just enjoy water activities. There is plenty to do locally. Whale watching, boating, great beaches, night life, museums, shops, and great restaurants.

Great rental for a large family

When we rented this house we had twelve people staying with us--five adults and seven children. The view from the balcony and two of the bedrooms is absolutely amazing. The house overlooks the Annisquam River and has access to a dock. My four boys range in age from 5 to 12 years old and they absolutely LOVED the river. Each morning at low tide they were able to go down to the water and collect hermit crabs by the hundreds. (Catch and release, of course!) At night, the adults were able to sit outside on the balcony and see millions of stars. It was very peaceful and relaxing. The house is also located about 8 minutes from Good Harbor beach, which is very clean and has an absolutely gorgeous view of the rocky coast. If you choose to go to the beach, go at low tide so you can walk to a nearby rocky island while the sandbar is still exposed. The house has pretty much everything a family might need in order to have a comfortable stay-- lobster pots, a martini shaker, beach towels, lounge chairs, wireless internet, TV/DVD, and fully-stocked kitchen with every cooking gadget imaginable. Other guests had left behind useful items such as paper plates and cups, laundry detergent, coolers, and shampoo. Initially, we were a little worried because the advertisement did not show the bedrooms. We were pleasantly surprised to find all the rooms to be small, but comfortable. As I mentioned before, two of the rooms overlook the river. My husband and I fell asleep each night to the sound of the loons and bullfrogs. The one thing that kept me from rating this house as "Excellent" is the fact that there is only one bathroom with a shower. (And it happens to be in the basement) The upstairs bathroom is nice, and it has a claw-foot tub. The washroom on the main level is a half-bath, off the kitchen. The bathroom in the basement is very clean and modern but not convenient to the upstairs bedrooms. The only time the shower situation became an issue for us was the day we all went to the beach...and everyone wanted to shower all at the same time when we came home. Other than that, we were able to work around each other for shower time. If you are looking for a brand new vacation rental with stainless steel appliances, this is not the house for you. This home is not fancy. However, if you like an older place with lots of charm--this place is perfect. The owner was easy to work with and we would definitely recommend this rental to a friend.
Owner response:There is an outside shower with hot and cold water that could be used. We also have free parking availabe close to the Goodharbor Beach foot bridge off Nautilas Road.
