Location: Camden, Mid-Coast & Islands, Maine, USA
Accommodations: Cottages, 4 Bedrooms, 3 Baths (Sleeps 8)
"The Sisters," two cottages that sleep a combined total of eight, are located on a quiet cove of Lake Megunticook, just 2.2 miles from Camden harbor.
The Lower House, sitting at water's edge, is a century old camp with its original, open-stud construction in the true camp style, rustic yet charming. Enter into small galley kitchen with yesteryear feel. Open living/dining room with wood stove, comfortable camp furnishings and door to deck. Small bunk room off the living room; second bedroom with queen bed and full bath (clawfoot tub w/shower). Enjoy the beach and ramp to deep-water float, and explore the lake in the provided canoe, rowboat, kayak or punt. For afternoon picnics, there is a dining table on the deck as well as picnic table and grill on the lawn; perfect for enjoying full afternoon sunshine and scenic views of the Camden Hills. In the evenings you can listen to the loons as you enjoy the serenity of this cozy, peaceful setting.
After a day enjoying the lake and town, the Upper Lake House is the perfect location for evening gatherings. Perched across the road on a wooded slope, this three-season cottage with all the modern amenities has a large living/dining/kitchen area with a cozy ambiance enhanced by a fireplace. Skylights and well-equipped kitchen, large island opening to living room with antique wicker furnishings, dining table which expands to seat 10, and daybed in nook. Two bedrooms: one with a queen bed and adjoining bath (shower), the second with two singles and door to second full bath (tub/shower) also accessible from hallway. With a spacious deck for grilling, this is a great place to meet at night. While it's not on the edge of the water, it has lovely views of the lake and feels more "woodsy" than the Lower Lake House, and includes a fenced back yard for the family pet.
"The Sisters" rent for a one week minimum and are pet-friendly, although there is a small "fur fee." Please no smoking.
