We stayed in Deer Ridge Cabin from Dec 26 thru Jan 1st and love it there. The cabin has a great rustic look on the outside and the inside is beautifully decorated and kept. Everything was clean and the appliances working properly. The cabin is spacious enough and we were a large two family group, bedrooms are big and beds comfortable. The bunk beds are a little uncomfortable though; they need like a plywood sheet under mattress. The cabin has a great location secluded enough and easily accessible at the same time; also close to multiple attractions and towns. We really had a great stay in the cabin, we had recommended to friends and family, and we would go back. Thank you. The Perez and the Negrin.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with young children, sightseeing.

Our family had a wonderful time exploring Helen and hiking to see Anna Ruby Falls. The cabin we stayed in was acceptable but not perfect. The first floor was comfortable as well as the bed in the loft upstairs but the bunk beds downstairs were not comfortable at all, even for our young children. While the listing was accurate listing all the beds in the house I do not believe that the bunk beds should be included in the number of beds that are useful for sleeping. All of the bedding was not as clean as I would expect. I realize that it is not always so cold outside but we were forced to go and buy a space heater because the basement was too cold. The basement was not properly cleaned or well maintained. We cooked several meals at the cabin and it would have been helpful to have a larger grill. Otherwise the kitchen was well equipped although we did choose to wash several pots and pans before using them because they didn't appear clean. The first night there was a major wind storm in the area and we were without power for a couple of hours in the middle of the night! We were so grateful when the power was restored. Our family had a good experience staying in the house but a few improvements would have made our stay even better.Recommended for: Sightseeing.

Smaller Family Cabin

The cabin was much smaller than we thought . It is listed as 4 bedrooms but it actually has 2 bedroom a basement with 2 beds and a very small closet type room with bunk beds. I would say it would be better for a family of 6-8. The bunk beds are very uncomforable and we could not use them also the basement is very cold, luckily we had a blow up bed that we used. The seating at the dining table and the den is for 6 with no extra chairs in the cabin that could be used. The cabin was clean and the loacation is good for visiting local attractions. I would not return and would only reccommend to a family of 6 to be comfortable,Recommended for: Sightseeing.
Owner response: We advertise that the cabin sleeps 10 max, since that is how many we can sleep in beds. The bunks are definitely for kids and are advertised that way. We find that the cabin works best for 2 families - the adults take the top 2 bedrooms and kids take the big basement bedroom and the bunk room. Most people have commented that the cabin seems very spacious, as there are 3 levels and 2 porches and everyone can spread out.

This was a really nice cabin-plenty of room, beautiful location, close to everything! Only complaints were the scorpion type bugs, but i know that is probably to be expected being as this cabin is in a woodsy area.. and the cleanliness.. floors and carpets dirty, spider webs and dust on fixtures and walls.. and I do not thing the upstairs loft sheets were clean, as well as kind of dingy bedspreads.... everything else was very clean. All in all very nice cabin!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, adventure seekers, girls getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Glad you enjoyed the cabin, and would like to address some of your comments. The cabin is sprayed for pests, but as it is in the woods, sometimes they do get in. We have a great cleaning service and after each renter they mop the floors, vacuum, dust, clean all the dishes and counters and bathrooms, as well as wash all the linens, so everything is definitely clean for each new renter.

We had a very nice time at this home. Our family had six of us staying here and there was more than enough room for us all with space left over. The location of the home was okay also. We used the home as our center point and went into South Carolina and Tennessee. We visited the national and state parks. The town of Helen was a dirty town but by the house, on the corner of the road about 1 1/2-2miles away, there is an ice cream and breakfast store that was very nice. This home was a great home for a nice, relaxing get-a-way. I would recommend this home.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, adventure seekers, families with young children, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thanks, glad you enjoyed the cabin. It's a great location, central to many activities. The Old Sautee Store does serve a great breakfast, and a great lunch too!

Play a round of golf, shop for German treasures, tube a mountain stream, brave the rapids on a kayak or raft, take on the hike down to Tallulah Gorge, tackle the climb to Anna Ruby Falls, or just relax on one of the multiple porches. Deer Ridge Cabin has a something for everyone! This clean, well-appointed cabin has everything you need and the perfect location for a relaxing visit to the North GA Mountains. This was our second wonderful visit, and we can't wait to come back!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, families with young children, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thank you for the nice review, we agree that there is so much to do in the area! We are glad your family enjoyed themselves, and we look forward to your next visit!

Great Family Reunion
Great Family Reunion

There were 10 of us attending a family reunion, and we really enjoyed staying at the Deer Ridge Cabin. We encountered several deer and turkeys nearby. The weather was unbearably hot and humid (set records for several days while we were there), but the cabin was able to keep all of us cool. The cabin's proximity to Sautee Nacoochee Community Center made it ideal for our activities. The owners had taken specific measures to make sure the decor was modern and tasteful. Some of the challenges we faced were with a faulty coffee maker (it cycled on/off and took well over 30 minutes to make a pot of coffee) and one of the downstair's queen beds needs a new frame or mattress, as it appears to be "caved in" in the middle (unsuitable for 2 adults). The stairs to the upper and lower levels were quite steep and not suitable for those with mobility challenges, but that had no impact to our gang. The owners were really easy to contact and quick to respond. If the coffee maker and downstairs queen bed got replaced, I would definitely stay there again.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, romantic getaway, girls getaway.
Owner response: Thank you, we are glad our cabin worked out well for your family reunion. And thanks for letting us know what we can do to make our cabin even better, we are always looking to improve! We have already replaced the coffee maker, and will look into replacing the mattress when we are there in a few weeks. update 8/12/12: the mattress has been replaced.

The owner was easy to work with and flexible. She kept all her promises and there were no issues. I'm not a"look-at-the-pretty-flowers" kind of guy, but even I was struck by the beauty of the outside landscaping. The long, wooded driveway gave us just the sense of seclusion we were looking for. The place itself was comfortable. The cabin was well equipped and the beds comfortable. All went off without a hitch, and I would rent this cabin again.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thanks, we love the cabin and the property too, close to everything but seems like a world away when you are sitting out on the back porch!
