Our favorite Japanese restaurant and sushi bar ~ The first Japanese restaurant in town, Kamehachi established itself as a Chicagoland regional favorite on Wells Street in 1967 ~ down the street and around the corner. Late night dining.
Dinotto ~ Ristorante & Trattoria: Dinotto. A local and our sentimental Italian favorite, Dinotto opened a second location in the neighborhood in November 2001. Ristorante, 215 W. North Avenue, Trattoria, 163 W. North Avenue. Up the street and right around the corner. Our European guests rave about the wine list, reporting wines not found outside of Italy, and, of course, the food. Intimate and romantic, while family friendly, especially at the newer Ristorante.

Uncle Julio's Hacienda ~ 855 W. North Avenue (at Halsted Street). Great food, capacious dining rooms, if you have car, there's free parking, it's a short cab ride, and a longish walk (6 blocks). Reservations recommended. This place is usually jammed.
Las Pinatas ~ 1552 N. Wells Street. Chow down time. Two blocks east, a neighborhood favorite. Adobo Grill ~ 1610 N. Wells Street. Two blocks to the north in Piper's Alley, next door to Second City. Mexican haute cuisine. Guacamole mixed at your table to your specifications. Very good reviews. Salpicon ~ 1252 N. Wells Street. Two blocks to the south. Mexican haute cuisine. Very good reviews. The Fireplace Inn ~ 1448 N. Wells Street. A Wells Street institution. Ribs, fried chicken, BLTs and other sandwiches, fries, slaw, and on and on. Two blocks east.
Twin Anchors ~ 1655 N. Sedgwick Street. Another Old Town Chicago institution. Great ribs for over 40 years. Two blocks west and a block north. Flat Top Grill ~ 319 W. North Avenue. Mix your own grill, all you can eat. We always get confused and make a mess of it, but most folks love it. Two blocks west.
